  • Hello and welcome to scale stuff, in this weeks video I show you how to build the 1:25 scale MPC country charger, a 69 dodge charger model kit.
    MPC | No. 878
    This kit was one of the hardest models that I have ever built despite it appearing simple from the box content
    In this video I go over the whole build process of this model kit and show you how to deal with all the problems that this kit will throw at you.
    The kit builds into a nice model but has many issues along the way, I decided to make my dodge charger kit up into the duke brothers dodge charger from the dukes of hazard but this model would look good painted in many different ways.
    As always I hope you find the video helpful and it gives you a good idea of what to expect if you choose to build this scale model kit at home

    Your build looks great, and I like it.
    I've built three of these kits. I need to sand and file plastic from where the grill and rear bumper goes to make it fit right.
    This kit was originally released in 1968. It's a very old mold.
    I built the General Lee kit in 1980 and don't remember the poor fitting issues of these Country Charger kits.

      @scalestuff1066  Před 9 měsíci

      Thanks mate, yeah this later version really needed a lot of work, saying that though I have built old airfix models made earlier and always find they go together better than some of the newer ones, so maybe its the same with this model? The tooling got old and didnt get any care or attention? Could also be that a different company makes the toolings for MPC as well

    • @randallrobbins4960
      @randallrobbins4960 Před 9 měsíci +1

      That could be. On the box it says where they're molded.
      Round2corp's headquarters is only about 30 minutes from me.
      Liked your video, it's helping me with my builds.

    This kit is a PITA haha -- I have THREE going at once for generals Washington, Grant and Patton. I'll be happy x3 to be done and when I do the General Lee i think I'll use the Revell kit instead. 😂

      @scalestuff1066 I haven't built the Revell kit but if it's anything like the Revell '68 Charger kit, it will have a few challenging bits but in the end it produces a terrific model.

  • @davidorr6627
    @davidorr6627 Před 10 měsíci +1

    TBH, if you look at the real General Lee's used in the series, they were pretty rough, so the MPC kit is actually quite accurate. The bumper bar in this kit is the narrow version that was only used in the early episodes. It's a shame they left out the CB radio and aerial that was in the Dukes of Hazzard branded version that they made. Despite being a crappy old tooling, I'm still going to get it and make a General Lee. Having spent many months building 50 year old Airfix Cutty Sark and Bentley kits, a few fit issues and abundant flash are not going to put me off. I intend to make as good a model as I possibly can given the limitations.

    • @scalestuff1066
      @scalestuff1066  Před 10 měsíci

      Yes that is true tbh, the show cars had a lot of bondo holding the sides together,and most they got from scrap yards to keep the costs down.
      I agree on the CB radio think that's one bit that should be added.
      I wish you all the best with your build,Least you know what you are getting yourself into,one thing I would say is lots of dry fitting the interior to the shell as its built.to be fair in this kit I think there was just to much of a learning curve at once for me,I build the odd car but mostly newer toolings so I had no idea what to expect from this kit

      @@scalestuff1066 I'm currently building a Tamiya Morgan 4/4, which is not a bad kit, but it has some issues as well, espcially some tiny parts that break easily, and assembly order that makes it difficult to paint if you do it as suggested, but difficult to assemble if you paint it frst. Even Tamiya make kits that aren't perfect.

      Appreciate the advice, my friend.
      I'm gonna try to find an orange that's slightly darker than the one you went with, but that's honestly the only criticism I have of your work and it's so minuscule it doesn't even matter.
      Just out of curiosity, where did you find the decals?

    • @scalestuff1066
      @scalestuff1066  Před 17 hodinami

      I think the proper orange was TNT orange, like the removal trucks? was watching a guy who made them for the show and they got a load of it cheap, but yeah could be slightly light, theres some odd "scale" effect to models, I can never remember which way round it is, think its the smaller the scale the slightly darker the color. The decals I had to ship in from the states I posted a link to the ebay sore on a comment on this video, there where two sets I ended up getting and the cheap ones where clear and I never ended up using them
