since the NBA is allowing a Steph vs Sabrina 3pt contest, the NBA should do DeMarcus Cousins vs Britney Griner 1v1 as well. Better yet, they should do a 5on5 exhibition match. Luka, Brunson, Iguodala, MPJ, and Cousins vs the best 5 woman squad that the WNBA can pull together. And even as more of an incentive, win or lose, ALL the ticket sales and earnings go to the WNBA. So the culture can finally settle this shit once and for all.

the question is not the players' attitudes, but who is in charge of the WNBA and what are their motivations? if you have Shaq, and every other male basketball fan in the world saying "I would watch the WNBA if women could dunk on each each other" that means that there are millions of potential viewers that could be converted into active fans -- immediately and at NO COST. If the top decision makers know this, and don't want to make the modification, that means that the WNBA is essentially a charity organization and not a real professional sports league. The issue of the players' attitudes would improve overnight if they were suddenly playing in full stadiums and bringing in real money.

One reason why the WNBA seen to not understand is because people are using sports to rationalize why they should not get paid more or why they should lower the rim. Using R&B music is the best way to help WNBA understand, such as, asking them which artist should be paid more Bobby Brown or Witney Houston. If they say WH than should WH pay BB for the short fall in ticket sales. Honestly, coming down to it, I think it’s very simple. People watch some sport for technicality spectacle, others for the physical spectacle. People watch the big 4 sports, football, basketball, baseball, and hockey for the _physical spectacle._ Seeing a player diving over a defender for a first down, a player dunk, a player slam a home run, and/or a slap shot from 30 feet right past the goalie, we love to see those physical feats of speed, strength, determination, fight.
But there are also sports where we enjoy seeing _technical spectacle_ and a good example of that is golf. Do people *LOVE* to see someone hit a massive drive 100s yards of yards? Yes, but that doesn’t win golf matches typically, people enjoy seeing when all the chips are on the line, and from like 90 feet out, someone measured the way the grass was affecting the ball that day, the slight dips and raises in the course, the wind, and accurately calculate that *SO MUCH* that they sink a putt from like 90 feet out with such precision. People love seeing that stuff so much, every gets quiet, watches holding their breath, and they see a prime Tiger Woods just drills putt so perfectly with such *_PERFECT_* precision and calculation, it’s insane to watch. Basketball is unfortunately not a sport that people watch for the technical greatness.
Is there _a lot_ of technical precision required in basketball? Yes, but people don’t watch it for Tim Duncan’s 15 foot bank shot and his consistent 24 points a game, they watched for Big Diesel drop step dunking some other center and a power forward who didn’t stand a chance and got absolutely posterize dunked by a prime Shaq or watching Kobe going against 3 other defenders on the last shot and raising up and sinking the shot while staring them down. Nobody was moved really with Kareem’s skyhook, but when Jordan took off and had his tongue sticking out while dunking on someone’s head, people tuned in for that. Hell, there’s so many great 3 point shooters throughout history, and they weren’t seen as spectacular players who warranted big money and being kids favorite player until Steph Curry. His quick release, his shimmy, his “nap time” celebration, taking shots, staring down other teams bench or looking away because he knew the shot was going in, taking shots form 40 feet out in stride and routinely sinking them. Hell, no shooter revolutionized the game like he did until he became popular.
No woman is sinking shots as deep as his and/or having his level of charisma so stop being in your egos and lower the damn rim. Hell, most of the time you see WNBA players talk, they’re so damn miserable sounding anyway too, it’s like they’re not having fun playing a children’s and getting paid for it. It’s always, “well, what can men do next for us, we deserve, actually we’re *_entitled_* to more for our boring ass layups, slow game, air balls, and inferior product.” I honestly believe that these women only don’t wanna lower the rim and get more dunks honestly because they simply don’t wanna have to face the reality that their game offers less while they keep *DEMANDING MORE.* If they lower the rims and start dunking more only to find it doesn’t move the needle for their game, then what’s next to complain about? It’s easier to constantly attack and blame, typically male fans, for not being better and doing more than just coming to the realization that their game is boring as watching paint dry.

WNBA also has a talent problem. They do not have any players that are destroying the competition like Jordan did back in the day. The only WNBA athlete I can name is the one that was arrested in Russia recently (Griner). Having recognizable players is important for brand recognition. Even non-sports fans can name players from NBA, NFL, UFC, etc.

Lower rims to 9 feet. The problem with the wnba is the product looks completely different then the nba. People will watch females fight because a punch still looks like a punch a head kick still looks like a head kick. A layup line will never look like a slam dunk. Lower the rim to 9 feet!

Do you really believe that enough people will come out and pay to see these players fight and dunk?

Can we adress the fact that a WNBA game looks like a highschool gym class? This is NOT basketball and its not because they're women. The low level regarding technique, skills and strategy is ridiculous. And how clumsy they are makes it look even worse. They should do better. No reason for women to not have a fast paced motion based game like how a good college or euro team plays

WNBA players complaining about equal pay is the same as the the g-league saying they deserve the same pay as the Superstars

Lowering the rims will NOT help their MASSIVE number of AIR BALLS!!

The thing is that to have that pay is impossible for the WNBA right now. If nobody watches, you can't be paid the same. I think they gotta focus on the more practical aspects of playing first.

I think women should tell the WNBA what they don't like about their league. These Wnba players wont take any advice from men.

In almost others sports, adjustments were made according to the sport men and women play professionally and in the olympics. Why is it so hard for these women to accept the same is needed in basketball?

The problem with lowering the rim is that you can drop it to 9' and 95% of the players still would not be able to dunk. The WNBA knows this and it is why they go so ballistic when it is mentioned. Women cannot jump. Like at all.

In elementary, junior high and highschool. We had tons of mixed pickup games. We played at the old elementary school yard. The rims were 9ft. It was so much fun. Especially when the girls dunked. None of us were good enough to play on the school teams. But after the second weekend of our games, lots of family started to show up and watch our mini tournaments. Loudest cheers came from the ladies dunking on other ladies. Really opens up the game when ladies can have more options than just layups or just taking shots away from the rim.

Smaller ball, shorter 3 point line, and shorter quarters..... How is lowering the rim offensive?! It can literally save their league...

The simplest question to the WNBA is....where is the money going to come from?
I'm sure they would argue that they want the revenue from the NBA but then that's not fair on the men's game.
Men's college basketball is leagues better than the WNBA

Lowering the rim and shorten the court might make them more watchable. Equal opportunities don’t have equal results !

Hating on the WNBA has become really low hanging fruit at this point. That being said, I don't understand why they get so offended at the suggestion of lowering the rims. They already have a smaller ball(despite having same size rim, giving an advantage in shooting) and the 3pt line is 3 and a half feet closer. Lowering the rim only seems logical, and would make up for the differences in height and athleticism that males have. It's not just about dunking either, one of the most frustrating things is seeing missed layups, it's like seeing missed chip field goals in football.
The real problem is just that someone else is getting more money, and people always want what someone else has. Most people would consider it a dream to make six figures doing something they love.

If they do not want the rims to be lower, then lower their shirt. Otherwise, their money will not go up.

They lowered the nets in women’s volleyball compared to men’s volleyball……… Now look at college women’s volleyball! Everyone watches that.
