One man named Dr. Jerry Buss bought the Lakers and decided that basketball is a part of the SHOW BUSINESS as any other medium for entertainment (movies, music, etc). This transition to showmanship is what saved the NBA. The ABA, an old rival to the NBA, died for being too boring. Understand what market you are in!
To be fair though part of the reason it was on the verge of bankruptcy is because only two or three teams were ever good and they were in big cities so roughly 90% of the country knew their local team couldn't compete with the big city teams in New York, L.A or Boston. Once revenue sharing became a thing and every team had the money to spend on good players the league took off and more than just LA and Boston could afford good players

How come interviewers never point out their league loses $10-12 million a year.
Them asking for more pay is like a company bringing in 100k a year and employees asking to be paid 600k a year lol they do not bring in enough revenue to make that amount the top 10 nba players bring in more in 6 months than most of the wnba in a year so it makes sense that they get paid more… noone is buying wnba jerseys like that so if they gave anymore percentage on that they would not make any money on the jersey
I think Tracy had the best suggestion about lowering the rim. The basketball is already smaller than men’s basketball. There aren’t as many tall women in WNBA as NBA. The average vertical leap of women is no where near that of NBA players. Tracy was spot on with his suggestion. What does the WNBA have to lose if they try it? The league needs a jump start in entertainment valu and I think it’s the only way to get more viewership. Any thoughts?
My thought is that the owners/league should just do it and stop asking the women whether they like the idea or not. How would they like the idea of not getting paid until the league turns a profit?????
@@tonyberezowski7859 Absolutely makes sense. Great perspective with the pay. I want the WNBA to succeed. NBA has deep pockets and won’t let it fold. I also feel the marketing needs to shift to focus on marketing to the community most prevalent with players and those who attend the games currently. Merchandise, market the players. Engage the upcoming players early, high school and college women players.

That reminds me of when my friends and I, all white guys, played on a low rim. That was fun. I felt like Charles Barkley out there. I completely match the stereotype that white guys can't jump. So, lower the rim and the game will be more exciting.
Draymond and T-Mac are genuinely giving great ideas. Even Shaq with lowering the rim so they can all dunk, but sitting and complaining as Dray said will not fix the issue. Man sometimes I do question some of the decisions Draymond makes, but at the end of the day I respect him because he is educated and is very smart off the court.
No women should be treated less than. A woman with men like that better run. It's a reason they aren't married anymore. Draymond's wife will be gone soon. You heard it from me.

@@Muskogee if wnba players really wanted equality, then they would be getting paid by their own sponsorships and games rather than having the money be funneled from the NBA. Whether they like it or not, their value to a business is not nearly as valuable as the average NBA player. So as Draymond says, rather than looking for a handout, why not try to figure out ways to get more viewers so the wnba can stand on its own rather than just asking for more money from the NBA side.
Yep they gave some good ideas, those women want to be pandered. They need a system that works for them, these woman just want to do what the NBA does and blame the NBA when it's not received by the younger women well. Quit doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.. it's foolishness

One thing I never hear about this issue is that they never ask the fans what they want. They never ask bball fans what would make them watch the wnba. I’d watch it if there had a talent like steph in there. I don’t even care about the dunks but it would be nice get some more of that too.

every time i hear about the WNBA its never about the actual game, its just about complaining about their pay. whenever theyre on TV on one of the talk shows, its never an interview about the game they play, its just them talking about their money.
when youre at school or at work, youll see your buddy and talk about the game last night and how LeBron had 40 points and 2 chase down blocks. no one has ever talked about the WNBA game from last night.
