    Venom - the symbiote with a taste for... well, people. Not only does Venom have a human host in Eddie Brock, but he chomps down on a few as well. Is that ACTUALLY good for him? You see, I think that Venom is being HURT by the humans he needs to survive! How? Let me show you!

    Venom’s species has to have a perfect host to be connected with for long periods of time. Eddie is one of those people for Venom specifically. Venom’s species can yes connect to anything but it can hurt them if they don’t find a compatible one they could die because of earth’s atmosphere and whatnot. They can’t survive on the planet so they’re forced to use humans as hosts even though it can hurt them big time

  • @ianhall7513
    @ianhall7513 Před 3 lety +13

    You had so much right. So much.
    But a symbiote, by definition, isnt a parasite. It's a mutually beneficial relationship between the two organisms. The human gets strength, agility, speed, deadly 'natual' weapons (spawned from the body) while the symbiote gets a host to provide sustenance and a base skeleton to work from.
    From a typical predator prey relationship, their partnership easily puts them on the top of a food chain.

  • @DanteSolablood
    @DanteSolablood Před 5 lety +1726

    Actually Venom is a victim for another reason - in the comics it's revealed that *Deadpool* actually wore the Venom symbiot shortly before Spider-Man found it during Secret Wars.. Deadpool realised that his mind would warp/corrupt Venom & returned it to the machine where Spider-Man took it from, literally stating that he hoped his psyche didn't drive it nuts. Depending on how you treat the recent Secret Wars comics, canonically *Deadpool* could be the reason that Venom is evil(ish).

      Well the other symbiotes killed their host because the human bodies isn't compatible somehow and that makes Eddie and the bad dude a special human if you could call them that. It would be interesting if matpat made a theory about what makes you compatible with a symbiote tho.

    • @testerwulf3357
      @testerwulf3357 Před 4 lety +4

      Gamer Brian Me and my dad talked about how maybe you have to be mentally compatible with them? The more willing you are to comply with the symbiote the better for them. Which difference mentally could lead to bad team work. Sort of like a “why settle for this when there’s better?” but once they find someone so compatible with them they refuse to leave as it’ll be hard to find another equal to or better than their current host! Eddie didn’t really comply in the beginning as he was scared and it was new; Venom proved he could read into Eddies mind, so he likely did so to read him and check their compatibility as well as find out more about his host. He found him to be compatible and knew he’d be more compliant with some time to settle, but why not just find another host that’ll settle faster? He was so compatible with Eddie that finding another to suit him and his needs would be very hard.
      But that’s just a theory! A symbiotic theory!

In keeping the symbiote, he would have had to accept that he himself has villainous characteristics (as all humans do). I can't say how much of this argument comes from comics themselves and how much just comes from the comic book community, but it's an argument I've heard many times and I still find it interesting.

    This Theory doesn't really even take into consideration that Venom is a freaking intelligent species, it's not just a mindless parasite like what we have on Earth. Venom and Eddie's "partnership" is symbiotic, crazy I know. Plus Venom's entire species is all about bonding with a perfect host and that's why (at least in the Comics) Venom and Eddie go after Spider-Man. Eddie wants revenge on Spider-Man for a dozen slights and Venom wants to bond back with Spider-Man because Venom believes him to be the perfect host.

The what if deadpool was venom comic basically made it self non cannon with a special retcon gun at the end of the comic it's a great read anyways I'm sure I got a few small details wrong it's been a while since I read the series and the what if comic

    This is a pretty good theory for someone who only had the trailer to go by, honestly. I would like to emphasize that the symbiote is not a parasite--it's called a symbiote for a reason. It's symbiosis, coexistence. Symbiotes do have to eat meat and brains to survive, sure, but in return, they basically give their hosts immortality. They can grow back limbs, halt cancer, and even keep their hosts alive in space. Anyone who's read the comics knows that a relationship between a symbiote and their main host is extremely special.

    Two little bugs with that theory of yours.
    One: Venom isn't a parasite.The movie makes it clear that it even hates being called that. No, Venom is what's called a "Mutualist" which is a creature that benefits off of a host, but gives something in return, a very common from of symbiotic relationship. Lungs that can breathe and a body to roam with, in exchange for super powers, that's mutually beneficial, not parasitic.
    Two: Symbiotes are sentient, intelligent creatures. Unlike tiny germs and bugs, they can strive for much more than just survival. Several times in the comics Venom chooses to chase after some desire or make decisions based on it's own consciousness. Once in the movie even, while by itself with no host, it makes the decision to track down Eddy because he "likes him", even though Eddy threw it away and left it alone. I don't think this thing is the victim.

      More over, in the original comics, Venom was an exile from his home world because he didn't want to completely dominate the psyche of this host. Symbiotes can just completely override the minds of the host and act as true parasites rather than mutualists. If Mat actually did research into the lore of his topics maybe he wouldn't have people get so pissed off at his theories.

Which is beifitional to both parties. The symbiote gets to live and reproduce while the host is given enhanced skills the reason that venom and carnage's symbiotes are crazy because there host were violent individuals. • @Abyzz_Knight

      @@boxerblake1 i'd say whether it's mutualistic or parasitic depends heavily on the mentality of the symbiote. The Venom symbiote had some bad hosts in the past and then found what it viewed as it's ideal host Spider-Man. The Venom symbiote is not mentally sound due to it's previous hosts and Spider-Man is negatively affected causing him to reject the symbiote. This causes intense anger towards Spider-Man to form in the Symbiote and when it bonds with Eddie who is also angry towards Spider-Man the anger within the both of them is increased even further to the point of wanting to kill Spider-Man.

There have been relatively recent studies showing that some minor parasites in human hosts can rapidly evolve to protect the host from more harmful infections in order to preserve its meal. So yes, Venom is a parasite, but enabled Eddie to protect them both, mainly for Venoms benefit of originally being able to consume him at a later date.

That's why they don't eat, attack, or most importantly, fend them off.

    I would like to point out that when a symbiote bonds with its host some traits are kept from each other. For instance when Eddie learned how to control the Venom symbiote and became a “hero” in the comics he would eat people’s faces and think that it was ok. Every person who is currently bonded with a symbiote is violent and crazy. Also Venom isn’t a parasite he is a SYMBIOTE because he will protect his host and keep him from dying.

Eddie was a great host because they were the same. And the mixture of the symbiote and Eddie became Venom to Spider-Man. I dont know why the Symbiote is ever called Venom. Without Eddie it's just a symbiote. That's why they say "We are Venom" not I am Venom. That's Carnage.

    If you think about it, the Eddie/Venom relationship is more acute towards true symbiosis (as the name, “Symbiote,” implies). The definition of symbiosis is a mutually beneficial relationship between two organisms.
    THIS IS THE SPOILER WARNING. I WILL BE TALKING ABOUT THE VENOM MOVIE THE REST OF THE WAY THROUGH. IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN IT YET JUST MOVE ALONG.
    In the movie, they mention how the symbiotes attach to a host and, assuming the host is physically, and maybe mentally, a close match, attempt to feed off of the host’s organs. Now this, in and of itself, is parasitic but think about this: when Eddie gets the symbiote and he just starts eating everything he sees, Venom continuously tells him, “Hungry,” edging and commanding Eddie to find more food. Later in the film, when Eddie finds out Venom was feeding on Eddie’s organs, Venom keeps saying, “I can fix it,” or “I’ll fix it”. It is my belief that when the symbiotes bond to a host, the host must not only be physically compatible, but also mentally compatible. As in, the two must have a reason to be together. The symbiote and the host must have the same goal or motivation in mind. The host must also be able to provide all the energy the symbiote needs, whilst also allowing the symbiote to, “take over”, every once and a while. The symbiote then in turn, lends the host their strength, knowledge, and skill in order to protect it. In the movie, Eddie and Venom have a reason to be together. They both hate Carlton Drake, they both hate the Life Foundation, and they both don’t want to be together. When Carlton bonds with Riot, Carlton believes that symbiotes we’re higher life forms and that humans should be merged with them. Riot hates humans, loves symbiotes, and wants his kind to come back and feed on the humans. Let’s also assume that they were physical matches for each other. If the host doesn’t provide the right nutrients and energy for the symbiote, it’s forced to eat the host in order to survive. That’s just my take on the symbiote/host relationship.

      There’s also the fact that Venom told Eddie at the end that he wants Chocolate, and this line is rather important. Venom feeds on phenethylamine, a chemical found in both the brain AND Chocolate. It’s a real chemical that affects your emotions (among other things) and Makes you feel happiness. Take it out and a human feels NO sense of joy~
      This was later taken out, but the writers seem to be bringing it back and making it a focus of the Symbiote’s biological function~
