Gymnastics is a sport that I really wish was on tv on a more regular basis. Sports like soccer, football, basketball, volleyball; all of those you see on tv and in college compatition fairly often. (Dont get me wrong, I love watching all of them as well), but I feel like the only time I EVER see gymnastics on tv is summer olympics (trials and actual games). I love watching it so much. I wish I could more often.

We barely get any TV coverage here in Canada. However, last Olympics they actually had great coverage on CBC. That’s why I’ve become such a huge US gymnastics fan in addition to Canada.

I agree! I mean yeah she looks 9 but the "reward" should fit her age not look. Like seriously, instead of beads why not bracelets or earrings or something.
I get that people require different motivations but seriously if she needs daily token rewards for doing her sport maybe elite gymnastics isn't for her.

Maybe it's because it's just something their gym does. At my gym if everyone in your class goes without complaining the whole class, everyone gets a stamp, and their are 15 year olds at my gym who get excited about stamps. Maybe they make her happy when she gets them.

Madison Kocian should be the bars specialist. Ashton went to worlds and didn't even get on the podium. Kocian at least tied for first, plus she is decent in the other 3 apparatus. My team - Simone, Aly , Gabby , Laurie and Madison.
Kocian only wins when Ashton isn't there. Ashton has better lines and execution

Noone better come for Gabby! She was under a lot of pressure with the expectations being super high because she was the reigning all around Olympic champion. I think she did great to even be able to attend another Olympics. I was and still am very proud of her. Everything worked out just as I anticipated. She handed the reigns over to Simone and the title could not be in more capable hands now.
@@hazeleyees that's how it is whenever there's a new star sadly. I mean, carly patterson was great all the way up until she competed at the olympics and won all-around but people barely bring her up unless it's talking about her vault. Same with nastia. People thought shawn would dominate but when nastia won, all the focus was on her
I love watching beam when someone else's floor music plays and the gymnasts cadence in their beam routine matches up with it
Simone has so much pressure on her because she's so freaking good. I think she does amazing under pressure though.

I truly love Nastia. I loved her as a gymnast and love her as a commentator. She is now situated in a perfect position to make expert and unbiased comments on the gymnasts. What a gem. Hopefully, she would be in the Olympics as commentator. I wouldn't settle for anybody else.

KeelieNinja Nadia Comaneci was the best of her time, the scores don’t matter. The scores now are very different, and she is the best of all time. Compare her with Nadia and her skill level, and you will see how much better she actually is.

Love this so much! I'm not even a gymnast, but I idolize all of these girls. It takes so much time and commitment to train for elite gymnastics. I'm especially proud of Aly and Simone. I love all the other girls too, but you can tell that those two really brought the fire (along with Laurie Hernandez. Love her too!). Gabby may have seemed a little off to me though. She did a good job.
The Ranch... I Just watched Athlete A... So when You Hear the woman in the beginning(dont know her name sorry) about how great IT was.. I Just cant stop thinking about the documentary and Dr Nassar.. In my eyes IT would be hell..
The woman is Nastia and she's the daughter of one of the most important coaches in USA gymnastics (he's now working in Brazil though), but she's said that she was never harrassed by Nassar so for her IT really was great. Most people believe Nassar didn't harrass her or her friends because then she might have told her dad and her dad had the power to fire him.

Rewatching WAG meets has literally kept me alive through quarantine 🤣 love seeing how much all of these gorgeous girls have grown and evolved over the years-can’t WAIT to watch them in Tokyo next year!
SIDE NOTE: has anyone else ever noticed how Tim Daggett ALWAYS just completely butchers the word “stoic” as something like “stoyic” (~1:27:30)?? 🤣 lol I’ve heard him do it consistently in several commentaries now and it just drives me nuts that no one has obviously ever corrected the poor guy! 🙈🤦🏼♀️😂 lol

Watching this again before nationals this year and wow the top gymnasts in the 2016 quad are so solid and consistent especially on beam LOL. I don't like Marta but when she was the team coordinator, she does produce consistency.

Andrew Smith Aly would not have been the top qualifyer if Gabby didn't go out of bounds...Going into the last rotation she was leaps ahead of both...So therefore if not for that mishap she would have been the top qualifyer.

Ik! Nobody talks about aly when they are talking about the fierce five. It is always about how jordon was so unlucky to not make it to the all around or gabby winning the all- around or Maroney falling in the vault final. I get it they were all amazing things to happen but NOBODY talks about how Aly Raisman actually was the most successful American gymnast from that olympics!

Came back to the trials after watching Simone make her comeback at the 2018 US Classic. And she is absolute perfection. Without a shadow of doubt, the greatest of all time. I have the feeling, that she will dominate the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo just like she did in Rio two years ago. Just. Too. Good.

It's so sad watching this in 2022 knowing the hell that Larry Nassar was putting almost all of these girls through at this time, for years before and a few years after.

Watching this in March 2020 & loving it, bc I can’t get enough of gymnastics content, bc it’s just the best way to pass the time under “shelter-in-place” orders and the quarantine due to the Coronavirus. Also just recently learned the 2020 Olympics is officially postponed until 2021. ⚡️🤸♀️⚡️🇺🇸🏅

i cringed the entire time that lady explained the bead system that ragan was using. they're treating her like she's 7!! She's 16. I really don't think she needs some stupid bead incentive for doing well in the OLYMPIC TRIALS. Possibly going to the olympics is a good enough incentive for me at least.

I'm dying to see Aly finish the layout in her first pass and then go into a back tuck and do a pass backward, like the tuck, back handspring, whip, whip, back handspring, double layout. I don't know if she'd have time to get all of it in, but something like it would be so cool! But her routine now is so well executed, the judges shouldn't be able to find more than a point!

Gabrielle Brown back to back tumbling is actually band by fig :( it didn’t used to be though , if you watch gymnastics videos from around the 90s they do that kind of thing though it’s really cool !
I think it's interesting that NBC listed Laurie's strengths as bars and floor when she didn't compete bars and was the beam silver medalist!
If you meant that Beam Silver (Rio) at the Olympics then they didn't know she would be Silver medalist back then. The Rio Olympics didn't even start yet!

And time marches on. Kyla Ross has had a fabulous collegiate career at UCLA. She has something like 20 perfect 10's in her career. She's also the only female gymnast to win a world championship, Olympic championship, and an NCAA collegiate championship. Mykayla Skinner had a great career at Utah before she took off last year to try to get to Tokyo. Ragan Smith after her injuries is now competing for Oklahoma. Brenna Dowell also competes for OK and has a couple of NCAA championships. Leaving Maggie Nickels off the 2016 Rio team spurred her to a phenominal collegiate career at Oklahoma. She has a couple of championships and will probably win another in a few weeks. Madison Kocian has been injury plagued and is now in her senior year at UCLA. Melissa Baumann is doing very well at Florida and her strengths are beam and floor. Amelia Hundley is a senior and competes for Florida and she has had a very good collegiate career.
Simone was on FIRE here. She's always incredible, but this was just even more so.
They should just have a 2020 olympics with all American athletes because they’re THAT good this year.

Thank you Laurie Hernandez for your chin up and open eyes in your FX! I'd love to see her dance it even more and go for less commercial music and go for something more contemporary dancy - she has the ability for sure! Powerful tumbling and original choreo maybe something along the styles of Produnova or Afanaseyeva who both had power and quirky choreography. Maybe it won't suit her bubbly self but I'd love to see it because for me, she's the best dancer on the US team (my opinion only, so don't go tell me how many other girls there are who can dance great). All these girls are amazing!

I agree, except I think the specialist will probably be Ashton or Madison. I really feel for Maggie-- she was so strong and hitting so well before her injury-- but I don't think she's 100% back to where she was a few months ago. Also, Team US is more in need of a bars specialist, and Ashton can definitely edge her out there.

Simone Biles is amazing! I have to say she might be the greatest on the floor exercise and vault right now! But when McKayla Maroney was still in gymnastics, she was the best on vault! Period. I could even say she might be the greatest of all time!
