i love at 52:56 when Nastia and Tim laugh at what Al is saying. At least they realize some of the bullshit one-liners he says. He always makes everything sound so profound. "The gymnasts are more.....than just gymnasts." Wtf does that mean Al?!
I know I've been watching too many elite gymnastics videos during this pandemic because last night my little 6lb dog jumped down from the sofa to the floor and I thought "great form on that Pac salto!". Not even kidding.
When Tim said Simone was not supposed to be the national champion in 2013 I was like who was then ? Kyla is great but doesn't have enough difficulty to win, never did. Madison was a good all arounder but only great on bars (also lacks the difficulty on the other events). The only person whi could've challenged her was Katelyn Ohashi and she didn't compete
Most all rounders aren't amazing at a single event they are just good on all events with maybe 1 weaker event, specialists are taken for a reason as they are amazing on 1 event maybe 2. Simone is the exception to the rule but she still is weaker at bars as she doesn't dominate.
Incorrect. Marta always created her team finals lineups based on how the gymnasts did/scored in qualifications. She almost always took the top 3 scores from qualifications and put them in the line up for finals, with a few exceptions over the years.

I know that MyKayla has hard tumbling and everything but the form on them. I know it has gotten better but still. And the turns are easy. I like her and all but still.
It's now 2020, and really the form is still not where it should be. It is so important for coaches to stress form from the very beginning cause that is difficult to fix once you train yourself to muscle through things rather than train yourself to use technique.
joyfuljaj so if you think about it, it’s not mykayla’s fault. It’s her coaches for not being so strict on it years ago. I really want her to move gym to WCC with Simone! Myk would be amazing after being at wcc. Look at Jordan Chiles for example. But mykayla’s form has gotten better significantly since 2014. It’s not perfect but it’s a lot better
@@nathanielhalls1893 It’s both their faults. Her coaches definitely need to be honest with her and let her know that her form is not good and it’s not okay to keep going year after year without correction. On the other hand, Makayla knows and has admitted that her form is not he best, so she’s not ignorant of this fact. If she wanted to improve her form, she needs to buckle down and do it. She can’t just wait for the coaches to do it for her. She’s an adult now. She can absolutely make it happen for herself.

@@dm-audioswaps9945 not really true. They will be deducted for the element missed, the arm movements and any bobbles AND the fall. So it is less deduction for just the fall.
Brook4ever that's what i was thinking too, but if she was training to compete this year, how could she be doing other things? i don't really get it. chow is responsible for a big part of her success, and it seems like she's kind of dismissing him and what he did for her in a way
Brook4ever Realistically, Gabby Douglas isn't exactly 'young' by gymnastics standards, she's about to turn 19. At 18 Nastia was the oldest Olympic AA champion since Shushunova, Amanar was 21 in 2000 but she didn't really "win" that competition, she was given gold because Raducan was disqualified. Honestly I would be surprised if we see her looking even remotely acceptable in US competition again, much less representing USA internationally.
skitzo429 I agree with your last comment. Frankly, though, that wouldn't be that unusual. And it would be better for her and for the team if she hangs it up, so to speak, to leave space for someone else. Her priorities have changed, her body won't be up to it, and her heart most likely won't be in it completely a second time. There weren't many repeaters from the Chinese Olympic team in the worlds, if at all--they were new faces, younger bodies, etc. Chow might be better off to concentrate on the new competitors. He now has his reputation of having trained a champion, and if she isn't dedicated, he really shouldn't waste his time unless she "shows up" and really throws herself right into training full time. But I wouldn't expect her to make a splash a second time.
I read her agent and Chow couldn't come up with a coaching fee agreement as well. Who knows what really went on but several coaches wouldn't take her out of respect to Chow. The whole thing seems pretty shady.
