A week clutch and or the Secondary glazes the belt and make the cart crawl up a hill. Replace possibley the primary engine clutch most cases it's the secondary clutch that has your issue.
I have not rebuilt top end. I did replace the belt and that made a world of difference... I have been driving almost daily now without any other issues.
2SlickNick Ah, K. Might wanna start to eyeball the motor mounts too. I have a 1990 EZGo at the campground in Indiana, and shes still going! But now its in need of a new drive clutch :-(
Quick question for anyone that knows the answer to this!!! I’ve just recently purchased an 89 ezgo with this same motor and it doesn’t have a reservoir for the oil that I can find anywhere on my cart. Did these carts not come with one? Did they require you to premix the fuel from the factory?
I think a lot of people rip those out of there golf cart engines. Due to the fact that the oil injection system failed often. I I know mine did not have and oil reservoir. But I could see where the vacuum line was on the crankcase that should have and the oil pump I think.
I found a eBay was a good place for parks. What I would do is get a manual or service bought that had parts numbers, and then I would enter that part number into an eBay description.
I believe my engine is a 2pg because the plug is tilted. It's an 89. I believe my 2nd clutch, the drive clutch is going bad. Does anyone have a line on one that is more reasonable than the $200 on line?
Do you know an easier way to "mess" with the timing? Otherwise you have to remove the motor and split it open to do anything to it. Just rebuilt my 89 Marathon 3pg and it's not easy to get to.

You need a new belt pretty bad my friend.it will help alot.
Okay, this may sound crazy but check your voltage regulator. If it's overcharging it will have no power. Ask me how I know!
What engine is it I have the save one
I sold that cart. I can’t remember- sorry.

Eddie Aki I ended up replacing the belt and so a slightly smaller one... it did help.
Timing has been messed with
