5 points cheaper than a kasrkin squad and gives you 2 orders, can't be shot further than 12 inches away. Can redeploy every turn to score tactical objectives and snipe characters. Not even mentioned stealth yet...

To be accurate to the books, the squad should include one or two other models with regular equipment and stats, and names you havent seen before, to soak up damage before you get to the main characters.

There's a second Gaunt in my kill team roster with the cadian upgrade sprue power sword swapped in. I can't wait to get them on the table as vet guard and kasrkin.
@@user-xs1tw5jx4o Must only be Pre-Necropolis Gaunt's Ghosts. Otherwise accuracy would also include a wooden foot and a couple Nalwood coffins.
the thing i kinda hate about this unit, is every troop has a different weapon, and has to be rolled individually because of the unique rules/str/ap

Entirely reasonable for Lord Militant Gaunt to be able issue two orders.
One order as a Commissar and one as a Colonel
Legit, you can take them as the best back field support command.
With the horrid first points update of 10th mortars and carriages actually better options for points, having the ghosts as un-targetable command support for counter batteries is pretty great.
Pop those Farseers with Larkins Long-Las. No more auto 6's on their fate dice. WOMP WOMP
knife ears live in fear of the long las, though I kinda like the idea of doing them in with ratlings for the inherent shame of it.

Don’t have the new models but getting to break out my old metal last chancers to go on another daring mission has been a blast! Scope, Ox, Hero, Demolition Man, Shiv, and the Colonel himself proxy quite well as the A team of the imperial guard!
I'm mildly surprised that they didn't get turned into a command squad option for a Tanith 1st and Only unit option, kinda like cadian command squads.
Need a full Tanith kit.

@@Wasemir3 I have almost 200 kit bashed guard troopers using bits from Victoria Miniatures and GW bits mostly for my Ghosts.
My Urdeshi are the standard GW guard models with the Urdeshi pattern puzzle camo! :3
If they bring back Tallarn and vostroyans as unique units, I really want them to be the las carbines and long las units respectively.

I was just writing up my first 2k list for a game next week and dropped Gaunt's Ghosts in there.
I'm convinced that their free re-deploy will be a game winner with how the new missions reward you for being flexible!

I think something else that's being overlooked is the Fights First. I missed it on my first couple of readthroughs and it looks like most other folks did, too; not only are Ibram and the boys going to hit and wound T3 opponents for for probably a good 8 or 9 damage, some of it with Dev, Precision, or -1 AP...but they're going to do it BEFORE the fight really starts. Whether charging or being charged -- talk about an upside, when facing like v. like. Put them up against other Guard troopers or similar, and they'll really gut the enemy before any attacks come back their way.
If you want a Catachan themed army....These Guys datasheets would be great 'Catachan Devils' (Elite Ambushes) stand ins..
alas, these are an epic hero unit. I could see Catachan devils as a unit though. We already have kasrkin.

you helped me better understand how to use them haha, in the last tournament in the last match I understood their real function, I always played in front and saw them die, I put them at the end and used them as a drip to do a secondary mission. Functional perfectly. Now seeing that they can come back and attack, it's much cooler, you shoot and no one shoots you! haha, Well, I could make a video on how to use the sentinel scouts.
First and only is the first thing I ever bought from GW 25 years ago, it was all I could afford and the guy said it was new and a good story so I went for it and loved the story as a kid. Now as an adult I would struggle to justify buying a 6 man guard squad for more money than a Russ, it's insane. Might stick with the old metal Gaunt I have painted up.

The take cover order would improve the save characteristic of Gaunt to 3+, starting in the command phase of you or your enemy's turn. Then, the benefit of cover would improve the saving throw by 1. It works the same way as take aim and heavy.
You would never get 2+ though, as you run into the "no cover against ap -" rule. Still, you get 3+ vs ap1.

I’m new to 40K minis, I didn’t know astra militarum had gaunts ghosts… I was going to collect space wolves.. this is a game changer for me.
I was thinking the same thing bout gaunts ghosts but figured I was missing something that would make them bad.
I can't see a situation, where this unit is useless... It feels like an autoinclude. Sure, each of the Ghosts have his own unique weapon and it can be a pain in the ass to remember all the different numbers, but it's totally worth it.

they should of added that psyker who knew when danger was coming.... but he got sent to the black ships... but now ya got milo who is a psyker and should be added as a adjacent. He can add ignore the first wound or something.

I'm currently Eldar, but Guard will be my next army. Gaunt lost his chainsword really early. He should now have a power sword that causes devastating hits. Bragg died early as well.
What is the tier list of officers for a mixed guard army?
One really sad thing is that they don't have the Regiment keyword, so they don't benefit from Fields of Fire :-(

Hi - I had a game on Monday. My opponent told me i could not improve my ballistics skills by more than 1+. I had a leeman russ with main battle cannon. Because he was standing still he can get a +1 on BS. If i give him a command - take aim from Lord Solar - does his BS improve by 1 to a 2+? or does it only improve by 1?
Hey. Being still ie heavy gives +1 hit, the order is improve BS by 1. Separate and stack. Another +1 to hit doesn't stack as max +1 to hit.
Your friend is half right. Under most circumstances you can’t improve a roll by more than +1
However the order “Take Aim” doesn’t give you a +1 to hit, it gives a +1 to your BS. So essentially you are modifying two different statistics that happen to slide together to have the same stacking effect.
Take Aim and +1 to hit modifiers (such as a heavy weapon staying still) stack
Take Aim improves the Datasheet
+1 to hit improves the Dice Roll

Gaunt is severely underpowered only having a Bolt Pistol & Chainsword... instead of the Plasma Pistol & Artificer Powersword.
It's because of when in the story these models are taken from.
Well he always has a bolt but he earns the sword of heronimo sondar. Not sure I have spelt that right

Can't use Fields of Fire on this unit. Only for Regiment or Squadron units of which Gaunts Ghosts is neither.

I legit just got them. I have wanted them for a few years now but everytime I went to get them they weren’t there and when they did have them I didn’t have money. What luck now 😂😂

entirely fair, but you're getting that on a unit with stealth and lone operative. You don't exactly live in fear of heavy bolters.
There really isn't any benefit to having 2 orders on a unit that only has a 6" order range, I don't think
It's a bit niche for sure. But I like the possibility of Gaunt barking an order at a nearby Scion or Kasrkin squad
There is one thing I haven't heard in a video. When you redeploy Gaunt's ghosts with their Covert Ops rule, they still benefit from Born Soldiers. Cause they are bein redeployed and not deployed from reserves.
They count as having made a Normal Move - see Rules Commentary page 11
A second order that is a waste. Shooting that is a massive pain in the ass. I'd rather 2 squads of scions to do missions + objectives.
Gaunt's Ghosts gave me ideas about how I wanted my home-brew Halo factions to operate (I have to do something special for Noble Team and Blue Team after all).
