When tanks often cover so much of what Guard, specifically, want to do, it is nice to get some talk of the infantry!
While I am looking forward to the elite infantry chat, I'm personally looking more forward to the HQs. I can't really say how happy I was when the Cadian Castellan got released; FINALLY a dedicated Guard officer, with decent assortment of kit, and it looked cool! Of course, most Guard weren't about kit; they took to the field barebones, and just slung orders, but then 10e made gear free, and you could take the useless power sword, and plasma pistol, and it was okay. Now, though, the named characters have taken the center, and seem just better then anything you might cobble together through the Castellan unit, or you'll take the Krieg version.
Yada yada, I'm looking forward to seeing what you recommend for when you do take a Castellan, or Marshall? If any Relics you still pay for, or other Enhancements, will feature, since we never see them past Leontus, Creed, and Straken.

There is an argument for giving the cadian shock troop sergeant a bolt pistol so they can still complete actions while in combat, a bit of an edge case but it's probably worth it ... and the autogun got nerfed since it's no longer rapid fire (should have been assault at least imho)

Generally I would agree with everything that Mordian says. But...
The infantry load out really depends on what you want them to do.
If they are in chimeras, I recommend equipping a flamer and heavy bolter.
Hear me out! The chimera has double heavy flamer and stubber, hunter killer and lasgun array.
On overwatch, that's 2 heavy flamers with an extra flamer and the heavy bolter has sustained hits. So 6s double.
Likewise, the chimera will always be moving, any heavy weapon will hit on 5s. But atleast the heavy bolter has sustained. So you have a decent chance of actually doing damage. Otherwise, any weapon hitting on 5s is very unreliable.
Or be really aggressive and take melta guns.
But, as a rule of thumb. Mordian is right.
Also, I personally think Bolters are better than plasma pistols.
At most, you will fire that once. Where as the bolter will fire all the time. Bearing in mind, the pistol will miss most of the time.
Bolters in a Drill commander squad/blob does serious work.
A plasma pistol won't save you if you are within that range.
    But that's my two cents.

I've been leaning regular infantry (plasma guns, sergeants with boltguns and chain/powerswords), since they're a bit more versatile, and let me hide some heavy weapons (usually missile launchers or lascannons) around, but when I run shock troops, my lean is toward 2 seargeants with autoguns (2 plasma, 2 grenades launchers or meltas, depends how I'm feeling/map setup) and 2 seargeants with chainswords and bolt pistols (the squad has 2 plasma, 2 melta) 2 squads charge forward, play objectives with tank support. Plasma and melta takes care of most targets, and if anyone closes, the chainswords help out a little. 2 squads keep back and protect the artillery, maybe support the other 2 squads depending how I feel. So far it's been working pretty well for me.

I think my two cents would be that taking at least one Vox in a 20 man squad of Krieg can be worth it and that I do not agree that a Plasma Pistol vs a Boltgun with Reg Infantry or Krieg is ever going to be worth it, unless you fully intend for that squad to potentially get into melee. I know modeling wise it’s going to take extra work but the Boltgun is going to do more work than the pistol just because of the range. But I also just love firing Boltguns at the enemy so I might be a little biased 😅 That being said they should’ve at least gave the Catachan Sergeant a Boltgun option!

I have a different opinion on Death Core or Krieg 20 man blocks. Let me say this first my play group knows they are strong. Instead of taking two plasma in the 20 man take one plasma and one vox caster. The reason behind that is the stratagem Inspired Command to give the order Take Cover. You get a chance at getting back the CP used on the squad with the vox caster. I've found that it's fairly obvious what squad will be targeted by my friends in the play group. Side note you can use the other stratagems on the squad that may make sense on your turn.

10 models without support will die very fast. in the end, they are stull just T3 1W 5+ models. but with a marshal and psyker (or take cover) they become quite durable. ofc the officers cost 60 pts a pop as well, so you want to maximize your DK unit to gain the most value out of the officers. ergo you take 20
the only thing that 10 DK can do a bit better, is some resistance to chip dmg but as soon as anything looks at them, they will die. but 20 of them with 3+/5+++ or 4++/5+++ can take a surprising amount of hurt
