I am ok with stevia, sea salt, and bicarb. I would love to do still do the best l can for my teeth. I have decay in a tooth and an appt for a filling in October. It would be so wonderful to know what to try with the options l have. Can you direct me to any specific resources? Thanks🙏

@@caitlin7325 I am afraid I do not know of any other way to reverse the damage done by infection in your mouth, outside of the use of the specific products in my complete mouth care system.
I have been a holistic supporter and follower of organic healthy, eating all my life since I was a teenager. I believe that plastic fillings are very toxic, and that without adequate support fillings, do not last well in the mouth and constantly need replacement - with the result that these filled teeth often require a root canal eventually.
The damage to health by the plastic, and the root canals is my concern for you.
This is why I encourage you to reconsider using Xylitol, especially my products Zellies in the correct way.
Xylitol is naturally occurring in our bodies and the people who struggle with Xylitol are often those with digestive imbalances. It’s ironic because Xylitol is actually a prebiotic that helps stabilize gut health.
Begin by taking one mint at the end of a meal. My suggestion would be a cherry berry mint , which is a soft and recommended flavor for children. Simply begin with one mint at the end of meals, and ensure you do not eat or drink afterwards for 1 to 2 hours - nothing not even a sip of water. The Xylitol will feed the good bacteria in your mouth and develop change.
When you have done this for a few months, perhaps try again with the Closys and the toothpaste that I recommend, and potentially with the entire complete mouth care system.
Consider that my rinses take only two minutes a day and you do not consume them. If they can save you from the need for a plastic filling that will be in your mouth for the rest of your life - this seems like a very simple option to avoid a filling I wish you the best.

@@sagedilts2594 SDF would not be my choice for adult teeth - because of the staining - but it is not a problem.
My system will help you develop a healthy biofilm to protect these areas, and with correct use of my system, an adequate toothbrush and gum massage etc - I expect you to find resolution in these receded areas.
You may like to explore some of the specific details on my website at my oral health bootcamp.
I explain why I suggest these specific products and that I know of no other system that has the power to create these healthy changes in your mouth.
Since Closys is clear, you will only be rinsing with "colored" products for a total of 2-4 minutes per day.
If you allow your saliva time to bathe your mouth for the other 23 hours and 56 minutes, I think this puts things in perspective and it will help you get dramatic improvements.
I encourage you to learn the best ways to maximize the effects of xylitol - and do not eat or drink after the Zellies mints - for 1-2 hours - not even water - so you do not dilute your saliva.
All this information is in my oral health bootcamp - and it is easier to communicate and answer questions with students on that platform.
I wish you great success and I would love to hear about your results :)

    To reverse a cavity:
    1. Inactivated bacteria
    - Mouth rinse
    - Take xylitol after every meal and don't eat or drink 30-60 min afterwards. Xylitol
Inactivate bacteria and prevent acids and plaque formation. This takes 6 months for this to occur.
    2. Protect the good bacteria by not using any products with baking soda, petoxide, chlorhexidine.
    3. Remineralization by your own saliva. Give it time especially in the afternoon hours. This can take longer.

Since my initial filling about a year and a half ago, I haven't had any additional dental work done. My dentist advised me to eat on the opposite side of my mouth to prevent food from getting stuck in the exposed upper right tooth. I've been following that advice. The dentist also wanted to wait and check if a root canal was required, but I haven't visited since then. I'm considering trying to reverse the cavity at home instead of going to the dentist. However, I'm concerned about how to treat the open tooth after I remove plaque and tartar, as I don't want to get filling done because I've heard that fillings can be harmful.

Hi Ellie, great video. I have a couple of small metal fillings which I will be having removed. From your video I understand that cavities identified before fillings, where the tooth still has most if its structure, can be remineralised. Do you have any experience where someone has already had fillings removed, and so there is a chunk of the tooth missing, where they have been able to remineralise/rebuild the structure of that tooth? I am considering experimenting with not replacing the small metal fillings with white fillings.
The follow up question to that then is how deep can fillings go until there is no return? I unfortunately also have a couple of big fillings and conscious that if replaced with white ones (where I believe they'll have to dig the tooth out even deeper to stick the white filling on) the tooth may not survive long term. It would be great if I could remove them and, if no pain, let them remineralise.

    • @dr.elliephillips
      @dr.elliephillips  Před 7 měsíci +23

I would not recommend you doing anything until you reverse those new small cavities. Cavities are caused by a bacterial disease in your mouth. To protect the new work done you need first to stop this infection.
I do not recommend getting silver metal fillings replaced - certainly not until your mouth is SO healthy you can get your dentist to agree that you no longer need a dental cleaning.
      That healthy and clean!!🦷
Once a tooth has been drilled it can NOT rebuild itself back - at least not at this time. Wait a bit for technology to advance and who knows? Possibility. Don’t rush into dental treatments.

A little filling just fell off last night. not even 6 months in... It was NOT for a cavity, but because neamer erosion caused extreme sensitivity where the dentin is exposed, right at gum line and root is exposed. I started using your oral care system about 10 days ago now and I don't feel extreme pain where the filling came off, just sensitivity... I have another filling at the tooth beside it, for same reason and feel like its going to fall off soon... The dentist who did those little fillings drilled a tiny bit in the tooth (the edge along the gum line on the root) without any anesthetic as I can't have them. Was told I need root canal (because dentist could not find the reason of the pain on xrays and I saw 5 different dentists... I refuse to do a root canal and there is nothing showing any signs of tooth disease on xrays anyways). My question is, do you think my enamel could regrow wher ethe dentist srilled a little bit (he said it was sand blast. not sure whats the difference) and the "filling was an extrely thin layer of resin... it cost me $600 for him to do that on 2 teeth, but just 3mm high and 1mm or less deep and it took him 15 mins to do that. I feel I was ripped off and it was not even what I had requested... I feel that getting them refilled would #1 not even last and have to be redone over and over and the dentist would drill more I could not bare it without anesthetics + would eventually get to the nerve and cause me to need it extracted. I am not a dentist, so I am asking you as I do not trust the regular dentists anymore.... a dentist mistake has now caused me to have Local Anesthetic Systemic Toxicity, so I can't have any local enesthetics done anymore as I would not survive that alone... Is it possible to keep on going with just your oral care system and have the enamel regrow enough to not have dentin exposed and the little bit of tooth that was grinded could regtrow to save my teeth? If so, anything else I should do/not do and how long would it take to regorw enough to be safe?

And giving tat site time to heal and grow and remineralize tat tooth over time and within a month he saw a shiny black tooth and slowly with time again tat particular tooth grow anddropping off his filling. How long is the remineralization process? How does it differ from the initial process? You defined this second process as leaving your mouth void of food in the afternoon to allow saliva to remineralize the teeth. But isn’t that essentially what the first process entails?

The remineralization process is ongoing, like forever. Your teeth are constantly breaking down in everyday life, but then remineralization will occur to repair the damage as long as conditions in your mouth are right for remineralization to happen. If conditions are not right, then there will just be damage with no remineralization, and off to the dentist's you go.

I believe the last commenter did not understand exactly what you were asking. NO, you do not need to use mints/gum after eating if you are immediately going to do the 4-step at-the-sink protocol. That is correct - you would just use the mints if you're not going to be doing the mouthwash/brushing protocol. AND IN FACT - this is very important: Dr. Ellie says that you should never use xylitol right before using the Step 1 Closys rinse because XYLITOL INACTIVATES CLOSYS. It is completely fine to use xylitol about 30 minutes after doing the very last step of the ACT rinse, but do not ever use xylitol right before the 4-step system (and this means do not use xylitol within about 45 minutes before Closys).

Thanks for your informative video. Can I reverse my molar tooth's cavity and remineralizing/regenerating the tooth even though the cavity is around the root area? That molar has a fiiling done a few years ago but now whenever I eat sugar related food, I feel something on that tooth and sometimes I feel very slight pain. I feel a tiny separation in between the edge of filling and molar when I touch it with my tongue. The center of molar(where the filling is) is a bit hollow due to wearing out over the years. My dentist suggested to get a crown on that tooth now or it will cost more later with root canal.
I'm not sure if the dentist is telling the truth and I'm a little hesitant because it costs too much to get a crown and I'm not sure if I can heal the cavity and regenerate my molar tooth to the normal state.
    Would you give some advice?

    • @dr.elliephillips
      @dr.elliephillips  Před rokem +11

This is a very clinical question that I cannot give advice about specifically. If you were standing in my office with these symptoms of sensitivity and slight transitional pain, I would suggest you use my Complete Mouth Care System for a few months before we go searching for a solution to that area of your tooth long-term.
If you really work hard to try and reverse the damage, you will at very least halt any progressive disease and likely harden up any previously damaged enamel.
This is useful for the dentist if/ when you finally decide that it is best for you to have a new crown made on this tooth.
No dentist likes to work in a mouth with progressive disease. The enamel is soft and cannot support the design he/she wants to use to place a crown. That's when the nerves get damaged by accident.
Also, if you have plaque, your gums are more likely to bleed and make it difficult to work in this area because it becomes wet from the bleeding.
So, I think you have nothing to loose and everything to gain - even if you end up needing a crown on this tooth as a long-term solution. Then this crown should last you for the rest of your life. Yeah!!!

There are several important uses for both of those products, but neither one should be used all by themselves; they are only supposed to be used as part of the 4-step at-the-sink protocol, in the exact order as Dr. Ellie instructs. Crest strengthens teeth (that is its #1 purpose), and the type of fluoride it contains is a very diluted sodium fluoride, which is not the same kind of fluoride that is in other products that damage teeth. One purpose of Listerine is to rinse the Crest off the teeth (you do not rinse with water in between any of the steps), and also Listerine serves as "liquid flossing" because you do not use string floss or water piks on this program. Also, Listerine contains a few essential oils that work beneficially in the mouth. Listerine is to be immediately followed by the ACT rinse, as Listerine is too acidic to be left on the teeth.

The other strategies I teach, these help stop a cavity from progressing.
Then, the more you allow your mouth to naturally heal itself - the more the cavities will reverse. ( This involves giving saliva adequate time to heal your teeth - and you do this by stopping all eating and drinking for an hour after you have had some Zellies/ xylitol mints). If you have 10 hours of healing per day, along with the use of my Complete Mouth Care System - you will get substantial reversal.
The question is, how long have you had this cavity? How big is it? Has it every been filled. If you have had this cavity for 10 years, then it may be too far gone ...but still worth a try. If it has broken down the entire tooth structure, it can still harden up and this will make it easier for the dentist to repair it when you go, but it cannot miraculously fill in all the missing parts of the tooth that have broken away. If it has already been filled or sealed or cut with a dental drill - then this may not work.

Sometimes (but not always) I do get sensitivity and mild pain from sweets on that particular molar. Does this mean the filling should be immediately replaced? I've been on your system for almost two months.

@@ab78001 My system does miracles - haha! - but it cannot bring a dead tooth back to life....so, this may be what is happening with your tooth.
If you feel persistent pain it may be worth an X-ray or a trip to see an endodontist and get an assessment of the tooth's vitality ( or lack of it!)
On the other hand, you could just wait and see - now that your mouth is altogether healthier - I think you will soon know what is happening there with that one tooth.

Ultradex is a product equivalent to Closys and it is available in many parts of the world. Closys is available in Australia and New Zealand so I wonder if it is worth contacting the manufacturing company directly to ask them. A basic sodium fluoride toothpaste may be available - preferably without glycerin. Listerine is usually available. ACT is a 0.05% sodium fluoride rinse - and some countries have access to a rinse called Fluoriguard. ( unfortunately with glycerin in it - but it does work.) It may be difficult to access xylitol but I'm working to try and find a solution for that problem. Another recommendation for you - because it is so difficult to access these specific products. is the use of a Miswak stick. This stick contains natural silica, fluoride and certain plant phytonutrients - and studies show it can promote oral health. I have no long term personal experience with these but the World Health Organization has researched the Miswak and results seem very positive. clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04561960

There is no certain amount of time you should go without eating or drinking in the afternoon; it's just whatever amount of time you can do. The longer the better, so that your saliva will have the longest possible time to interact with your teeth alone, with no food or drink involved. The early afternoon hours are the most important time. After you eat and then use xylitol, you should go a minimum of 1-2 hours or longer with no food or drink.

@SunrayStar I'm confused about how cloves kill teeth since clove oil has natural antibacterial properties and its main component eugenol may help inhibit the growth of bacteria that contribute to tooth decay. Since the 19th century eugenol has also been one of many essential oil components to be used in root canal therapy, periodontal therapy, and to treat abscesses
as well as clove oil has been used in traditional Indian and Chinese medicine for centuries to relieve tooth pain. I know that it numbs
      the nerves temporarily but could
you clarify how it kills teeth? ❤️

@@amichaels1871 It's too risky to use. Essential oils easily travel after you apply them. That's what they're really good at. They diffuse through what they're applied to. Essential oils are often too strong, which can cause tooth nerve damage. This nerve damage is what can kill the tooth. It won't likely happen immediately so that you could see the cause and then the effect; the damaged tooth may not die until way down the line, even 10 years later, and then you would never be able to connect your emerging tooth symptoms with using that clove oil way back years ago.
Dr. Ellie was a pediatric dentist, and she said that in pediatric dentistry, killing a tooth with clove oil used to be common practice, to prevent a toothache by killing the nerve of the tooth.

When I use plain 100% xylitol granules/crystals, right after I put it in my mouth it begins to dissolve immediately and is totally liquified within the first 10 seconds (I have not timed it; that's just a guess). Now, if you are talking about mints, not plain granules/crystals, then the mint would be held together in a shape and would take much longer to completely dissolve. It just depends on what form of xylitol you are using. Regarding your first question, I would go by a brand name you could trust if you are not sure if you could be getting counterfeit product.
