    Lest we forget, Feige hired Chloé Zhao to direct Eternals in 2021, who herself had just come off a Best Director Oscar for Nomadland (2020). And on paper, she seemed like an ideal choice to direct a Marvel movie that was introducing a cast of a dozen or so new characters into the MCU. And the results were…mixed.
    But the sad fact is that, while Shang Chi is regularly mentioned with affection and anticipation of a sequel, it seems like everyone has forgotten about Eternals.

    Not forgetting that the Russo Brothers were executive producers of Everything Everywhere All At Once.
    On that basis, I suspect they'll shift their focus on producing more original, independent stories. Building from the ground up will grant them creative control and a higher budget.

    In my opinion it would be interesting if the Daniels worked with Kevin as consultants/advisors for the multiverse saga. The Daniels can help with tightening up the story, any ideas, concepts, or narratives that would ‘cause disruption. Of course the Daniels wouldn’t participate in every single writers room for every single script for every single show and movie however, they can provide quality control, and some checks and balances. Keep the saga grounded

    The guy who wrote Loki & Doc Strange 2 is writing Secret Wars. The guy who directed Shang Chi is directing it. Ant-Man 3 writer Jeff is doing Kang Dynasty & the rumor is Coogler is directing. I think Jeff’s writing for Ant-Man was a little lackluster BUT I did enjoy Kang in that movie so hopefully he tightens up his scripts reads some comics and comes back with some heat.🤞🏽& Coogler would be fire directing Jonathan Majors!

  • @thobaniklaas

    The Daniels should refrain from working with Marvel/Disney due to their micro management of directors. These guys deserve to go to a studio that will embrace their original ideas and not become a deterrent throughout the movie making process. We have seen how that played out with the Chloe, Scott Derickson, Sam Raimi and Edgar Davids. A24 is still the best option for them at the moment and Universal/ Blumhouse.

    I think they would be just fine with a career like the Russos considering they produced and helped get EEAAO made. So many fans think it’s a binary thing: MCU/blockbuster movies or indie cinema and never the two shall meet. Storytellers are storytellers and each director has to calculate what is best for them and what they want to make. Even with the concept of the multiverse playing in, an Avengers movie boils down to two to three hours of people hitting each other real hard and EEAaO was more of a character study. I think if they had a pass of the Multiverse of Madness script it would've been the best outcome for how they could benefit the MCU, because that movie tried to tell a character driven story across multiple universes, but a mainline Avengers movie has too many moving parts for that.

    Well I never saw Everything Everywhere All At Once and so I can’t say anything about that but just based on the idea of Marvel going after these indie filmmakers for Kang Dynasty or Secret Wars is something that as of right now I don’t really see, partly because while I’m sure Marvel will wanna go after some of them I also think there’ll be some that won’t really be interested in directing a big budget tentpole movie, I know some directors like Joss Whedon or James Gunn have made that transition but that doesn’t mean every director is gonna wanna do it, especially because as of right now Marvel’s reputation is not what it used to be, they used to be see as this big, huge juggernaut of a franchise that every director was dying to be a part of, but nowadays with the mixed reception they’ve gotten ever since Phase 4 I don’t think these directors really see the idea of directing a Marvel movie as that big of a deal anymore, in fact to tell you the truth I think these directors would be far more interested in working with DC right now, because right now they’re the ones putting out better content, and so I don’t think it’s gonna happen, because like I said, as of right now Marvel’s reputation is kinda muddied and so there isn’t really as much weight behind that opportunity right now

    I'll repeat what a few others have said, although John and the gang may never read these. The Daniels already signed a 5 year deal with Universal. So there is no point to speculate. They already have been snatched up

  • @gilgamishna
    @gilgamishna Před rokem +3

    Kevin Feige tried this before after the Daniels made Swiss Army Man. He tried to recruit them to direct Loki, and they said "No," choosing instead to make...Everything Everywhere All At Once. There's no universe in which the Daniels suddenly decide that because they've found their success, they can slack off and prostrate themselves before Marvel. Aside from the fact that they've signed to a five-year contract with Universal, they've done this song and dance before and made a choice that benefitted them, which makes them more likely to make that choice again. So there's no way they will ever be caught dead near a Marvel movie unless they're seriously strapped for cash.

    The Russo brothers were the Producers of the movie Everything Everywhere All At Once- It's no coincidence. They've also mentioned a few times that the next Marvel movie they would come back for is a Secret Wars movie.
    Perhaps EEAAO was a stepping off point for them to give themselves a blueprint of how to Direct the monstrous Avengers Secret Wars movie and have it out-do Endgame and test to see if the EEAAO directors collaborate well with them and make them the writers for Secret Wars.

    • @johncampea
      @johncampea  Před rokem +3

      The Russo's had absolutely nothing to do with EEAAO. They actually passed on the movie, but because they passed it on to someone, they got to get a credit out of it. That's why they weren't at the Oscars and no where near the stage when the REAL producers went up to accept the award.

      And yeah, I was wondering why they weren't up on stage. IMDB lists a whole lot of Producers. Very confusing since their names were in the opening credits of EEAAO. lol.
