    She's a favorite bird of mine, in rotation with the AN-2, DC-3, Wilga and 170b depending on the flight in planning.
    I will say she can be a bit floaty on descent (I find myself using a lot of side slip) and the time for the flaps to move takes getting used to... But still a fantastic bird

    Well done, enjoyed flying with you!
    Regarding the altimeter: it seems to set itself to zero altitude. Pressing B, as you know, will set it to local baro pressure. Note that the fine pointer is 100s of feet, long fat one is 1000s, and short fat one is 10,000. Suspect that will be fixed soon; long fat one should be 100s and short fat one should be 1000s.
    Note that 90kts is 1.5nm per minute. If you've flown 10 minutes then you traveled 15 miles. Makes it easy to figure in your head: number of minutes + half the number = miles.
    Love to see you do a video demonstrating how to make a really short short-field landing over an obstacle. With the high drag 60º flaps, that's where the Dog really shines.
    Thanks for taking us along!

    Lovely little VFR hop, was great to tag along! I noticed after the last install I had a new folder in the program menu called 2020 Cessna L19 Bird Dog with the developers manual and an old original POH, not that you need that - apart from the Alternator! :-) Hope you get chance to fly the wet dog again, would love to see that.

    This plane seems offer grass roots flying. Minimal avionics, seat of the pants feel with a firm grip on the stick. A thoroughly enjoyable flying experience. BTW FK , you're far from rusty and knackered, more like smart and beautiful. Super fun flight. Lets go again!

    Good review, actually a joy to fly,, although no Autopilot you can do it using programed keys, as there's VOR and ADF radios and even ILS approach. The aerodynamics are good. It's worth the $$. Thanks for your review, it makes justice to the aircraft.

      I'll likely use it for a few more videos, I will say 1.4 made it a must buy for bush fans. Everything I really wanted that it didn't have... it now has, even down to the doors and windows. Feels like a fully realised plane now... and with 3 ships, Amphibian, Bush tire, and regular tire in one pack... its a steal!

    AvAngel I love your videos.
    Did you see blackBox just released 1.4.0 version ?
    Hope you're going to make a new video test of this Cessna L19

      I did! 1.4 is pretty epic, I'll likely take her for a bush trip and talk about the updates rather than a third overall review.

    Hello AvAngel, once again we find ourselves asking for your help with the L19, ever since we did the update for this plane, (a few weeks ago) we have been unable to start this aircraft !!!!!! We use the logitech switch panel and all the correct switches are set and the engine will turn over but won't start. I seems that it is NOT getting fuel which makes us believe there must be a fuel valve or panel switch that we are missing someplace which we can't seem to find!!! On the upper left hand side of the cockpit we have the fuel switch set to to the main tank. Any suggestions you or anyone else who fly's this plane has would be greatly appreciated, as this is a great little plane, but once again we can't fly it. Thanks.

    So far, I'm finding it nearly impossible to wheel land this thing
    without ground looping... seems like it loses almost all rudder
    authority which may or may not be a trait of this aircraft in real life.

    • @AvAngel
      @AvAngel  Před 3 lety

      Typically you wouldn't wheel land unless at very low speeds and somewhat tail down (less flaps too) for soft field, typically its a 3 point landing.

    • @AV8R_1
      @AV8R_1 Před 3 lety

      @@AvAngel I fly a super cub for real, and wheel land almost exclusively. Keep in mind, EVERY airplane is different. In the cub, It’s easy to run it on and pin the gear down with the tail up. Tail low but not on the ground is a recipe for disaster.. anytime you have the tail low you have a positive angle of attack on the wings and risk lifting off again the slightest breeze. By keeping the tail up and pinning the nose down you’re also maintaining a negative angle of attack, and can run it on faster without any real risk of coming off the ground unexpectedly. It’s also very less likely to ground loop. My typical approach speeds in that are around 50 mph and I bleed it off to around 35 or so when the mains touch. It will hold the tail in the air to 20 or less and with VG’s on the vertical and horizontal stabs I have full control all the way till the tail settles onto the runway. Three points in my experience are where ground loops typically happen. Now, I only have experience in the super cub and the Aviat at Husky, which is pretty much just a heavy super cub, so I can’t really apply any real world experience to the L-19. That’s why I wanted to see if this was a trait of that particular aircraft, or a fault in the way that it is simulated. It three points beautifully in the game, but wheel landings are just impossible. I do remember the X cub being like that in MSFS for a short time before they fixed it. Older sisters may truly be more difficult to keep in a straight line, I don’t know, but that’s why I was asking. Thanks for the input, for sure, let me know how your testing goes! I will try out the version with the roller skate wheels on it today and see if it’s any different! 😆
