    The opening door alone made me get this but also, to have a beautiful, clean looking bush craft with a door is, what can go wrong. Like honestly I don't get the "it's too like the cub" because to me it handles quite different. The cockpit is smaller and I think cleaner. Very different style too. If fly outside all the time yeah stick with the free one but I'd not touch the cub now honestly as the cockpit in the Huskey has me in love

    • @jamesordwayultralightpilot
      @jamesordwayultralightpilot Před 2 lety

      Depends what you're out for. Savage cub is underrated as far as flying outside your plane and overall performance. Longer VFR flights will probably be better in the husky. Apparently it's the best float plane we have so far, so it's definitely worth it. I just wish it would be easier to get slowed down and stopped for off runway landings...a style that is not yet emphasized so much when it comes to these "Bush"planes

    • @AvAngel
      @AvAngel  Před 2 lety +1

    @williamleadbetter9686 Před 2 lety +1

    I have flown a real Husky and they are quite tame as far as P-Factor and tail swing is concerned. So let's see if Microsoft flight sim can get this right as their taildraggers are still a bit of a farce for now. They climb very good and get off in very short order. The owner was setting it down in only a 700 foot runway. An excellent utility aircraft though I have no use for one my Tri-pacer suits me just fine. The low deck angle you noticed is to keep the airplane a bit more stable on the ground at speed. Higher deck angle airplanes like the cub want to bounce and leap off the ground with speed. So airplanes like this one and the citibria are very easy to land and ground handle. I have flow both. None of which were mine.

    • @AvAngel
      @AvAngel  Před 2 lety

      Not much pfactor tbh, gentle on takeoff, climb is good and ground handling good, it’s behaviour on approach is very predictable, so I’d say it’s fair but unlike you I have no experience of the real one, further flying puts it firmly in the very good category.

My Tri-pacer is all steam gages. I of course live in the US. Do you live in England? Its probably more expensive to fly there. Yes, I was sorely disappointed. Wasn't able to nail a slow speed touchdown with rollout of less than 250' or so. And it was a rough arrival. I still have the most fun landing off runway in the Savage Cub. Even the X Cub is hard to get slowed down. But I think it's just me.

      If you're at high altitude yes adjust the trim, climb issues are typically too much prop RPM not enough throttle... (the overspeed warning, pull the prop back to 2500ish and you can firewall it, tons of climb... I found this lifts off and lands in around 800ft.

    As a real world taildragger pilot, I've been disappointed with the dumbed-down MSFS flight models - they're far too forgiving of sloppy handling. You state in the video that you liked the Husky's flight model because it is "well-behaved" (but you also say, correctly, that taildraggers "can get very spicy very fast!") So how "spicy" is the Asobo Husky? I'm not looking for nastiness, just realism, so that I can keep my tail wheel skills current.

    • @AvAngel
      @AvAngel  Před 2 lety

      Mistreat it and it bites… its got a lower deck angle than a cub so it’s a touch more gentle, the insane broken p factor of the sim is less pronounced, a number of higher power tail draggers have a tendency to immediately go nuts at 40knots tail up or down, this one will start to swing with torque but a jab or two keeps her behaving, winds are… interesting but as expected more difficult for a tail stagger. Never flown a real husky but it’s behaving as they are reported to for rhe 200hp variant engine.
