#Kodiak #MSFS2020 #Simulation - Hry
As someone who used to love to get into the wilds, and who is now in a wheelchair, flight simming is one of the ways I can still see some of these backcountry places. There isn't enough love for bush flying in the flight sim youtube community. Thanks for all you do, both reviewing the planes but also highlighting these small airstrips and runways for those of us who love to explore.
I'd say I'm sorry you're in a wheelchair but it seems you're living and that's my main fear is that when I'm ever disabled I won't really be living just existing. So keep going strong.
I worked with many handicapped and like Devin said above, glad to see youre at least staying in the game, pardon the pun.
I love it how the dev has modeled interactive points between the ground and wheels to get that "real" feel of rolling over bumpy ground. Only s few aircraft have utilized this feature so far. Great to see
Woaaah, such a beautiful aircraft, congratulations to SWS, and thanks AvAngel for flying it ♥
I've really been looking forward to this. Thanks for the early look. Can't wait to get it.
This Kodiak looks like a fun aeroplane and clearly it is totally loaded with options. It really does look like value for money here. For bush strips, small district routes and even VIP travel. Awesome.
This can’t release fast enough! I’ve been a huge fan of the Kodiak since it was first announced in real life! My FSX Kodiak was one of my favorite aircraft! Can’t wait for this one!!! Great preview!
been looking forward to this aircraft, can't wait. Thanks for the review
I just got the Milviz Porter, but I don't think I will be able to resist this lovely Kodiak ... Thank you for giving us this honest preview :)
Miliviz porter is a beast. Good purchase
looking forward to this one - aggressive climb out will be great seeing as so many of the airstrips have obstructions at the ends of the runways (can you say 'trees' and 'more trees' :) ). SimWorks does great work so this will be a Day One purchase. Love their Okavango Delta scenery and their Zenith STOL aircraft. This will add to the collection of happy purchases, from the looks of it. Thanks AA again for the review.
Great review avangel. Looking forward to this one.
Great review as always, thank you.
Thanks for another great review. Looking forward to this release, early Crimbo present to myself incoming.
You and me both!
Ok, so I haven't even watched the video yet. Just the fact you are reviewing the early preview is very exciting indeed. Now time for the popcorn!
Enjoyed the honesty in the last little endeavour at the end of the video, testing & figuring out the limits
I’m not perfect nor do I pretend to be… it’s a sim, I can survive mistakes.
When I heard the price, I was a bit shocked to see it was so low. Anyone complaining about the price has never owned a truly well developed product in this niche.
The price I expect for an aircraft that uses MFS avionics. When you do that you are in the Carenado category of developers …at best just slightly above.
One of my fav planes!
Agree 100% the cup holder does it for me :D not kidding I want this plane in my hangar. The sound pack is so nice. Cheers!
A great preview and another great free BC airport addon, thanks! I think I found Machmell Fisheries through one of your reviews, maybe the Zenith STOL from SWS? They have just updated that plane with float and ski versions (free, nicely enough). So I decided to try out these “tree tunnel” airstrips in VR with the Zenith. Really a dramatic area to fly especially in VR. And with the Zenith amphibian I was able to give chase to a cruise ship steaming in the water near Moh Creek. Too many planes already but I’m looking forward to the Kodiak!
Avangel...I noticed you like to fly in Idaho a lot. I live in Idaho. It is beautiful! Definitely getting the Kodiak 100 tonight when I get home from work. They just released it today for us xbox simmers!
Ooohh, lucky you! I've been working my way down through Africa, on my way to the Okavango, hoping to time it just right for the release of this plane, but I'm a couple of weeks early. Thanks for this, it looks just as good as I was hoping for!
The Quest Kodiak looks like a Kool Aircraft to fly next to the Cessna Carvan which I hope to fly again in MSFS2020.
🤣"It's a bush plane now"😂 That comment, in that situation, made me spray my morning coffee!!! 👍given! Keep up the good work Avie-A!
I have to make fun of myself :D
It looks awesome!
They manufacture these just across the state border from us in Sandpoint ID , they do practice water landing with new owners right out in front of us all the time .
Oh wow! I didn't know that and I live 45 minutes South of Sandpoint in Coeur d'Alene, ID. I gotta say, I love this plane!!!
I love my Kodiak in XPlane so I'll get this one as well.
Beautiful area
I absolutely love this aircraft! Even though I have the Thranda Kodiak with the REP package for Xplane, I will certainly get this one too. I really like that the entire cockpit isn't black like the previous version. Plus, it's also Quest's difference in V1 and V2 .
It does look like a really good plane. Can you damage the engine when you overtorque it (like the Milviz Porter)?
that looks really awesome and a very fair price in my eyes. Will surely try it out when it will be released. I was a bit confused at the end tho. "goodbye" instead of the normal "bye".. hmm
I have been waiting for this review , thanks AvAngel .
I just got a copy from SWS, Don't expect me to always get early looks, I was honored they chose to let me get early access in this case. I normally buy aircraft on release like everyone :)
@@AvAngel You are making a real name for yourself with your reviews , expect more early release products .
Spot on Video
Thanks for review.Might pass on this version but get the Amphibian if it looks OK.
Working cup holder - I'M SOLD!!!!! Hehehe....
Thanks AvAngel for a good honest review. I plan on getting this plane. It is so refreshing to see a developer produce a modern plane. Whilst I like to fly older planes, I don't like spending a long time in them. I'm a gadget person and like the tech in new planes.
There are two questions I have.
1. Will the pms50 GTN750 option be available? This is a must have for me.
2. Is reverse thrust mappable to a controller key bind. (This is now somewhat broken in the C208 since SU7)
If it works in other g1000 types, i think it might as this does work with the NXI update, so possible? not certain though, a question for the developer I think.
Reverse thrust I was using on the keyboard, (f2) so if its button mappable, i expect so yes :)
Been looking forward to this for a while. I watch Missionary Bush Pilot (altho' I have got a tad bored of that now), and was really hoping they nailed the Kodiak. I fly a lot in PNG (Oh, how I pine for a World Update for PNG....) and this will be a great plane to fly in them there parts....
totally great for that... high altitude, rough runways... STOL... its ideal :D
Great review and demonstration of your skill as a bush pilot. I have always noticed that there is a direct correlation between the distance from the wingtip to the trees and the "Pucker Factor". Aircraft with cup holders and all of the switches working are expensive because of the long hours spent in front of a computer making them work.
Appreciate it! and yeah, the little details mark planes out as well worth it in my eyes... attention to detail!
How do you set your prop up on the bravo? Mine seems to sit in the feather area and only go half way up.
No idea, sadly i don't have the bravo yet.
@@AvAngel ok, thanks.
Would the MSFS work on a Virtualbox installation of Windows 10 on a reasonably powerful laptop computer?
It’s possible if it’s a vm yes
sorry if i missed it in the video, what is the airport/area you are flying?
Quatam River, here :)
www.msfsaddons.org/freeware/airport-quatam-river-bushstrip
I noticed when you first got into the cockpit, everything was on, does this plane start in a cold and dark state?
Yes, I am one of the test pilots. As a real world Kodiak pilot it is very realistic
It does, I had my battery switch on on my controls 😀
@@AvAngel thank you! That had me a little worried :) I am looking forward to flying a lot of bush missions in this bird!
Being based out if KSZT I feel this will be an obligatory addition to my hangar.
The quest is such a beautiful aircraft. I got to fly one out of a little untowered field by where I live and it handles so smooth. The landing felt a little rough but it handled it well obviously and that could have been more of a me problem but the owner who flew with me didn’t complain. I’m incredibly interested in how it feels within the sim as MSFS can be hit or miss in terms of how aircraft feel and handle.
She feels a little tall on the ground, not quite as squat and low as cessnas do, wheelbase does feel a little short, but it can take a bumpy landing well, feels like its got great suspension on it for absorbing the bumps, engine is really racy.
Do you have any tips on how to make the next 18 days go faster? Time machine plans? Or something?
Hm not sure, I want one myself for the amphib!
@@AvAngel The cup holders in the rest of the cabin work too. And I believe the air vents... did you try those?
👍👍👍
It’s the wing ice light on the outside of the pilot doors.
That makes sense! I thought it was for improptu discos :D
@@AvAngel I believe Kodiak has an optional mid-cabin disco ball for flights to Vegas
Flaps 20 is better for short field take off, rotate around 65kts. Really short field, flap 20, static take off, at 45kts go full flap and rotate at 55kts.
I like to 'mess around' and see what an aircraft can do... was trying for the classic back country "full power, pop flaps rotate" but it didn't seem to like that :D Still getting my head around the power and behavior of turboprops :D Still too much of a piston driver. Good to know the pop more flap and pull still applies though :)
been waiting for this plane since i saw jesse pinkman get a ride in one in breaking bad.
I don´t like glass cockpits but of course the real aircraft has a glass cockpit so after consuming missionary bush pilot videos for a while it will be a no brainer for me to buy this one. As always nice video (the only terrible one was that for the 339 wich you take off without closing the cockpit and with the master warning telling you there were some issues) as a DCS and Falcon pilot that was painful to watch but you already said you didn´t have the experience on jets. Anyway really fun channel to watch keep up the good job!!!
Reverse thrust works. Was this demo done on SU7 or SU6?
This is SU7 :)
@@AvAngel just saw your take off. Well if you're not flying in the bush then you're not Bush flying
Looks like it will be a great plane but the real treat will be the Aerosoft twin otter.
Yes!! But I think both and I'll buy both.
@@HeinrichHarpo I bought the Kodiak.I will give the Otter sometime to iron out a bit more.
I miss round steamgauges..
When can we expect the amphibian version?
Not sure, haven’t heard yet
Looks like a really great aircraft. What a pity it has bloody TV screens in the cockpit! Really sorry, but it looks so weird! If it had the old steam driven guages, it would be an instant buy for me. Yes, I know, I'm old school. Real pity that the Cessna 172 Classic is the ONLY steam driven gauge aircraft offered in a whole suite of GA planes by Asobo. Ah well .... Excellent review of course. All the best. Lee
To be fair, this aircraft irl only has the g1000 suite... its what it's built with. I prefer steam too, but in this it feels right.
Also the 152 has steam too :D and some of the cubs.
@@AvAngel Ofcourse I understand. I'm tempted :-) But I trust your review, it looks very nice. And I'm really taken with the green! Just checked out your review of the Bell 47G2 Helicopter. Glad you like it. I think it's amazing! Just going to start a tour of the Austrian Alps with it! Take care - Lee
@@AvAngel Yes, but I guess I'm looking for something like the Caravan - but with steam guages. Ah well .... Take care.
I wonder why they didn't animate the visors, they just pop to the extremes.
AvAngel, let the company know you just sold me on purchasing the Kodiac!
Ahh. I wish they would fix the broken weather so I could get back to flying in the sim. Really missing it.
Weather works fine... I've never flown in live since the fsx days lol
@@AvAngel really wow?? I only ever fly in live weather! It just doesn’t feel real to me otherwise!
If I get a hour or two to fly, I don't always want to fly in rain, or night :D
@@AvAngel yep I am very liberal with the live time, but I enjoy the experience of flying in different weather, gives you that same experience in real life when you get the joy of lovely weather
Curse you quest for not making a steam gauge version! Oh well guess I’m going to have to get used to flashy fandangled cockpits. I won’t be passing this plane up it looks/sound incredible.
There isn’t a steam gauge version, kodiak is too new to have one full stop
@@AvAngel I understand. hence why My curses were directed at quest and not SimWorks.
i think it is now called daher kodiak
tis.
You English and your tea 😀
It's important ok? :D
@@AvAngel but you drink it hot😖( I m southern)
Missionary Bush Pilot Livery please !!!!
It's the same thing as a caravan. Why the heck would anyone want this?
Damn the door opens? How much for this plane?
LOL that's a good reason to buy it alone lol... In it's defence, its not the caravan, that's somewhat for rough fields, but this is a full stol bird, its designed as a bush plane, not a commuter.
This is not anything like the caravan! I fly them both and although they look similar they are not even close to being the same and the Kodiak 100 is 1 of the best planes in the SIM in my opinion.
Nice review, cool plane but selling amphibian version separately bothers me somewhat.
Also CUPHOLDER WITHOUT A CUP??? UNACCEPTABLE!!! I want to have 100+ mods for different cups! )))
It's a totally different plane honestly... I can see why. Entirely different model and different physics and equiptment... no different to Justflight's pipers.
@@AvAngel But Pipers 28s (and 35s) are much more diverse than just slapping different undercarriage under the airframe (even FAA don't count amphibious/tundra variants as a different models ;) ). I understand that developers have to run extra mile to add a variant and I'm ready to pay a bit extra for the hassle, but buying 1.5 planes for a price of 2 irritates my inner cheapskate too much :). So I'm counting on them making "kodiak bundle" for the stores :).
Also a little nitpick: I believe Kodiak would definitely be even better with dynamic cabin interiors a-la Turbo Porter. As I've seen in Missionary Bush Pilot the plane converts from cargo to pax configuration in an instance.
Yes, trying to take off from where you were was daft. Missionary Bush Pilot is shaking his head at you.
Never know till you try, I can do it in a cub :D
Wish I had a better computer for this game and mod.
Turn off your starter! ;)
wwwwwwhhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee have I heard ur voice before?????? what other games do(did) you play
No no no no no.....the devs should really start working now before release and add the checklist toggles on top of dashboard as it is for 'Missionary Bush Pilot' plane...it is not acceptable without them... :( really missed opportunity
Bring it to Xbox x/s please lol
They are
@@AvAngel Any idea when? Have they alluded to a period? Asobo probably the only who knows
Its there!
default avionics? eehhhhhh.....
Why replace a perfectly workable system? As I said, compatible with the NXI one, or any other G1000 suite.
Yeah, cupholders are pretty important, much more so than whether you can damage the engine by overtorqueing or overtemping... Come on, is this a serious sim add-on or a toy?
Wow! That was rude! Everybody is different and if somebody gets excited about cup holders... let them! The point was that this plane is full of options!
So basically a smaller Caravan with the same boring G1000 setup. I'll pass.
I think 29.99 euro is too expensive...I was really looking forward to this aircraft but doubt I will buy it at that price. Might as well stick with Caravan.... Sorry
This is no Caravan, it’s a proper modern day bush plane for unapproved airstrips with STOL capability. Max gross weight take off is less than 1000ft.
Different class of plane to the caravan, much different
@@fundypaddlesurf Like I said, a small Caravan
Should address your objections to aircraft manufacturers who keep making glass cockpits (and aviation authorities demanding it) ;)
