It's the first time ever I get so excited to see a product that I probably won't ever touched to be on the hands of anyone really.
I was waiting for a controller like this for years and I am just happy knowing that someone pulled it off.Now I am not going to lie i never expected Pioneer to pull it off (I was leaning more towards Numark or Denon) but I have to say props to them,they did it!
I have given a lot of shit to Pioneer,mostly for their club Dj equipment,because I always felt like they were sleeping on their brand name,I did had a bit of respect for them because when it came to turntablism they did delivered things that they were asked but never at a complete state,they were always going for the first release of a product and they were always missing a spot for other companies like Rane or Reloop to fill,but now they just showed how it's done.Props to them really.

These look good cool features. Cool to see more companies getting into the motorized platters for controllers. I always like the ns7 and rane has a good set up. I had my ns7 for a long time they are built like a tank. But a game changer would be any of these companies making their controllers independent of the laptop and being able to just use music from a external hard drive or usb stick like the pioneer cdj’s.
Yeah, that is the next step indeed. Pioneer kind of gave us an example here with that Instant Scratch feature. Those sounds are built-in and independent from the laptop

This has my attention... Pioneer so it definitely has a bit of cost to it...but there are a few minor things that kept me from getting the Rane One...this seems to have dealt with some of those issues I had with that other controller, and it has some unique features that I really like...
I will keep looking into this one for a bit to decide of it will be my next upgrade. Look forward to your full in-depth review video.

Never thought I would see the day when Pioneer would add Pitch Bend buttons to a controller. Crazy to say, but I prefer PB buttons to manual PBing. I'm glad I held out from buying the Rane One. Had no idea the REV7 was on the way. I'm all in. Nice vid DJ TLM. I'm convinced. Imagine the folks that recently bought the S11 for the same price. SMH
I didn’t even that. Pioneer controllers didn’t have PB? I never use it so I never really look for it, but that’s crazy😄

Very cool short video. Enjoy your videos. I was leaning on Rane 1, but instead got 1000 SRT about 1 1/2 ago. Now this one, very cool. Probably will be controller of the year & best thing that has happened Pioneer & Djs that use battle style turntables. The instant beat loop would come in handy if your computer crashes. Activate the beat loop while you get on the mic while you try to get your Serato back up.

It is heavier due to the motors, but not as heavy as something like an NS7

Hi TLM. I have had my Rev7 for a couple weeks now and I noticed needle drift after about 10-12 beat juggles. The marker started at 12 O'clock and the drifted to 1 O'clock. This happened in Serato AND with the beat loop on instant scratch without a laptop plugged in. Have you had any issues like this too? I can not find any threads discussing this. Thanks!

It would be great if they did that kind of controller like the XDJ series, so without the need of a laptop. For now only Denon offer something for scratching DJs that doesn't require a laptop.
But this one is great, the screen in the middle of the platter looks dope, the mixer too (maybe they'll release a REV11 later ? :) ).
I'm not a fan of the horizontal pitch fader though, always use it like that with turntable, but it was not a real choice, more like a compromise (it seems more precise for me to use it verticaly, with my hand position), and I was happy to lose that habbit when Numark CDX came out (and other motorized CD players I had like DNS 3700 from Denon). But I guess it's nice to have more option, as the Rane doesn't have this position :)
Also, hope they'll do a Rekorbox plug and play compatibility, it's a terrible world for scratch DJ who hate Serato (not hating the on the brand or team, they're great, but just don't like the crate system you have to use) :)

Only I started with turntables 30+ years ago. I don't stare at the laptop if the display in the middle. I know what I am going to play next 99% of the time.

Saw dj jazzy jeff do a demo today on one of these. It was interesting to see that he uses a cue point while back-spinning. So instead of moving the platter back to the start point he pressed a pad. I'm sure he's not the only one but I've never seen that done before. Maybe we should call that technique cue-spinning instead. The controller looks dope AF but not really in my price range.
A lot of DJs do it nowadays. It’s an easier and faster way to get back to a specific point. I do it as well, but I mix it up with actual backspinning, just because that is so much fun

I can’t fully determine the size of this controller from the video - is it comparable to the size of the pioneer ddj sx3 controller or is it smaller than that? I’m sure it’s not as small as the ddj-sb3 but I’m hoping it’s somewhere in between the size of both of those that I mentioned. I’ll look it up too but do you know the price point for this controller as well?
The price point is around 2000 and the dimensions are 732mm x 382mm x 82mm

Think they did this (imo) because Numark did the Mixtrack Pro and Platinum FX. Paddle controllers is the way now. Numark will try to match this before the year ends. SRT-1000 will be back benched? What say you TLM?
I’m not sure I follow. What’s the relation between the Mixtrack Pro and Platinum FX to a motorized controller like the REV7? What’s a Paddle controller?
And Numark doesn’t have to match a motorized controller because they have their NS7 line.
I don’t know about the 1000SRT being benched. I have no idea how popular it is

I haven’t done this yet. I know how to access the utility, but that’s on the REV7, not on the laptop. I’ll check how to add the logo when I’m in the studio tomorrow

Excellent question. Good to know if it is durable or has problems. 12 months is usually enough time for any problems to start to come to light, especially if used daily or weekly in a club setting.

I’m not sure why so many people are fascinated with how Pioneer put a screen in the middle of the motorized platters. Technics did this years ago with their cdJ and to top it all off the screens were also able to rotate to the direction u wanted depending on how u placed the cdJ. I do like the Rev 7 but I’m itching to see what Rane’s come back will be. In my opinion Rane is a better built machine but it doesn’t mean I don’t like the Rev 7
Yeah, the Technics SL-DZ1200 had a similar system, but we had not seen it on a motorized controller before (I think), and I’m glad they did it.
Rane could do something like this, and basically put a Rane 72 in the middle. That would be dope.
But I personally really prefer the workflow, onboard FX and feel of the Pioneer mixers. That’s why I love what they did here!🙌🏾🙌🏾

I respect what u say. I love your videos and definitely respect how u analyze equipment but I love the built on Rane equipment from crossovers, mixers etc. They just last a long time. It’s like my Technics, I’ve had them since 93 and are still as strong as when I bought them. But it’s like u said I guess it comes down to preference and comfortability. Keep posting dope vids. Still waiting to see what Rane comes back with lol!
Is there a better Pioneer dj controller in its category? I like the motorized wheels, but it missing a screen, for the price. I'm upgrading from SB3 I play house and disco. Is it worth the upgrade? Is there a better one or a more featured economical one with the motors and or display? Some video thank you so much need to know ASAP
Is the REV7 an upgrade from the SB3? Massive! But is it worth the upgrade? I can’t tell you. For some it will be, for others not.
Another motorized option with screens would be the Numark NS7III.

Altho I am not a scratch DJ I understood why pioneer have done this to give a pathway to beginner dj to enter into the world of scratch hence the rev1 to 7
You as a scratch DJ would you give up your turntables for this?
I personally think they may of nailed it but as I'm used to CDj's/controller style layout dj I can't really give an opinion.
I wouldn’t give up turntables because I still need something to play my vinyl

How's the weight compared to the NS7?
It’s less heavy, but it’s not as light as regular controllers. If I’m nit mistaken, the NS7 weighs 35 pounds and the REV7 around 23 pounds
CAN YOU USE VIRTUAL DJ WITH THIS CONTROLLER
I doubt it. Normally you can midi map controllers to work with other software, but I think it’s a bit different when you’re dealing with motorized controllers
Cool controller. I dig that they've stepped into the motorized realm, but I really wish pioneer would stop putting arbritary limitations into their equipment. It wouldn't take more than a little software and firmware tweaking to load custom samples into the banks.
I’m pretty sure it’s possible, and I think this will be added as an option somewhere down the line. And eve. Though I’d rather have it all now, I can also imagine that a brand might want to take it one step at a time because there’s always going to be (little) bugs. And sometimes there might be things at play that we can’t see from here.
And this is not just a Pioneer thing. I see this happen with a lot of brands.

I suppose I'm just a little jaded with folks like Denon taking big steps to innovate, whereas pioneer, being the apple of the DJ industry, can get away with a lot more for a lot less (or sell a lot less for a lot more in regards to functionality). The platter is alllllmost like the older denons can't remember if the were motorized tho .

The NS7III is a beast so I don’t know if this would be an upgrade for you. That depends on if the REV7 has features that you’re currently missing on your controller.
For me, it would be an upgrade because I really like the mixer section. It falls in line with the other setups I use (with the S9 or S7)

Pioneer capitalized on everything that Rane dropped the ball on. Rane needs to make some revisions for a One MKII or they're in for a world of hurt. My suggestion for Rane., go Standalone route with Engine & wifi streaming like their InMusic siblings...more or less, think Denon Prime 2 with motorized platters, Mag Four & FX paddles
Yeah, what Pioneer did here with that mixer section, the jog displays, and onboard FX was really on point. And I love the Instant Scratch feature
@@djTLMtv they really nailed it & I'm far from being a Pioneer fanboy. It's everything a turntablist could want in a controller. It must be hard for you & the rest of the privileged elite DJs that have had this thing for weeks now & not being able to say anything due to some sort of Non Disclosure Agreement I'm assuming. Looking forward to seeing you kill it with this thing.
Well 2 things in Rane's favor, like Pioneer they have a stupidly loyal following who don't jump ship easy. And 2nd, the $500 price difference is not insignificent. I could buy a Rane One + 2 Fluid Audio 8" studio monitors and still have money left over. The Rev 7's nicer, but for $500 it better be. Outside of both having motorized platters, with that big of a price difference these shouldn't even be in the same catagory. Well, IMHO anyways.
*NOTE* I sound harsh maybe, but I am going to buy this, if God can bless me with the ability to actually save money in 2022 lol.
Seems like an oversight to not include "Fresshhhhh" and "Ahhhhhhh" in the instant scratch feature.

Why dont you use software effects? Hardware effects are quite limited in my experience.
I’ve never felt I had the same amount of control, and I like Pioneer’s onboard FX more than the Serato FX.
And personally, I don’t use a ton of FX
