Oh wow 😫 lol. Appreciate the info. I thought it would have $1000 by now. Damn, I just looked it up and the cheapest one I saw was for $1,340. Most expensive was $2,000. Sheesh.
@@DJLiftOFF so here's a question you may have gotten before, if you had to do it again, would you start with the rev7 and then go to 2 12s and a mixer or would you go the same path you did when you started?
@@atypical_blk_guy knowing what I know now, I would have immediately invested in the Rane 12s (assuming they were available). Being someone who wanted to learn how to scratch, I think the “natural” feel for scratching would be missing without the full size platters.
The Rev 7 is a good pick up afterwards in my opinion.
However, for someone who has no interest in scratching, I’d go with the Rane four in a heart beat.
@@DJLiftOFF gotcha, I had the Rane One but had to sell it so I've been going back and forth on what controller to go with. I know the goal is to have 12s and a mixer for the house once I've earned it lol. I'm thinking a pre-owned sx2 or 3 might be a good move and then build up to a full setup. I'm just a bedroom Dj so I don't need the bells and whistles right now.
@@atypical_blk_guy got you! And yeahhh, if you don’t need the bells and whistles, the SX2 or 3 is solid for sure. I would say those are both controllers that are almost mid tier to where its great for a beginner but also extremely usable for a DJ with experience
Liftoff, I don't know if you've seen this but on the Rev 7, if you hold the effect button and use the same knob that you use to scroll songs, it will scroll through the options for various effects that are onboard. There is an Echo Out and a Fill that I use more than Phaser or a few other defaults. Check it out if you havent.

I’m with you on this selection, I have all the same plus a Rane one which I love for home use and the flx 10 is like an updated sz2 with stems, need to cop me a Rane four

I think the 1000srt would be more comfortable for most people because the rane 4’s platters just feel different than most controllers. If you’re used to pioneer products, they’re very different.
For me personally, I’m not a huge fan of scratching with the CDJ feel, only because I don’t use those type of jog wheels often. I like scratching with the Rane 4 but it takes some getting used to and you’ll either love it or hate it.

The Rane 4 has built in reverb you have to assign it to one of the effects button. To assign a different effect to one of the 6 FX buttons, hold any one of the 6 FX buttons and rotate the Parameter/FX Select encoder. Push the Parameter/FX Select encoder to confirm the selection. These values are stored directly to the FOUR and recalled each time the device is power cycled.

The Reverb is pretty low tho!!! The only thing that sucks about the R4. But like you said… crazy fun!
@@richy5611 I thought so too but playing around with the settings and parameters I was able to get a decent reverb.
When adding a Rane Twelve next to the Rane Four, do you feel that the spacing is too far when scratching? I am thinking about getting the Four and likely down the road the Twelve once I get better at scratching, since you have tried both what do you think? I'm only 5"10 with an average wingspan lol
Lift off ,I know how to scratch but my concern is what unit is best to help with and assist with blending and mixing music to were you could let the mix play out for awhile or is every controller about mixing with the ear and pitch control like the days of old?
I have a sz2, I've had it for about 7 years. I was thinking about changing to the rev7 but with your video I think I better wait for a model that really is a great improvement
Still love my SZ2 til this day. It’s still top tier for sure in my eyes. I really like the Rev 7 as well but if you don’t have a huge need for motorized platters, def keep rocking with the SZ2

Hey DJ liftoff Does my controller the decontrol inpulse 200 work with Rekordbox and if so how do I map the controller and get access stems and put my own made DJ samples in rekordbox and is there any way to align beat grids just into they’re lined up when songs are loaded

Yow Liftoff. Thanks for the info. I wanted to ask you about the Dr. Suzuki slipmats. Where do you get yours? Can you please post a link? Also you said there were two bearings (not sure if I heard that right) below the slipmat. Can you explain more? I have the Rane 12s and nothing compares. The only issue is they are heavy. Otherwise they are tight. Thanks bruv.
Yes they’re definitely heavy so I rarely do actual gigs with them unfortunately.

There’s a link for the slip mats! And I’m not 100% sure if they’re called bearings but they’re the small circular washers that go under your slip mat. The less you have, the less resistant the platters are.

Like sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Is it my laptop or do you think the controller may be defective? Thanks for your time🙏

When you say spotty, what exactly is happening? I’ve used it on a few gigs and to practice and I haven’t had issues yet.

I used the DDJ1000SRT for a month or two and I’m just a lot more comfortable with paddle FX, or even the FX from an older controller like SX3 or SZ2 versus the dial where you choose the effect and then have to choose the channel as well. It always seemed like way too much for me.
The controller itself was pretty good tho. I liked the platters, crossfader was pretty good. I haven’t heard the sound quality they can produce but overall, I think the 1000 or SRT are controllers I would recommend to someone who doesn’t mind the dial FX

I was wondering if maybe you can do one for portable controllers? Which would be great to have that's portable (like the size of a ddj-400 or a little bigger) and has a good sound card and can be used with different software if possible? What's your recommendation?

Can definitely do one that’s more focused on portable controllers. I’ve used quite a few. I’ve always ran them through a mixer for sound quality purposes, however, my favorite may be the Rev 1. The DDJ 400 is also very solid. I just personally like the battle style layout.

Once i moved to paddle FX, i can no longer go to a knob. I gig with the rev 7 but i want the Rane 4 to have a stationary jog controller option and the acapella instrumental stem buttons. I did midi map my rev 7 for stems though so it's close.
Yea man, the paddle FX are such a huge difference versus the knob. And nice, regarding the midi mapping. I’m torn between the rev 7 and Rane 4 sometimes.
What do you think about using the twelves with the Rane four? I have long arms (6’7”) and the rev7 is too small for me. I feel cramped.

Any updates to this? I was thinking of getting Rane Four with Twelves in the future. Im only 5'10" so I have an average wingspan, but I worry that it might be too wide from the crossfader to the turntables that it might not be comfortable at all.
Liftoff did I miss that Rev 7 settings video? What is your crossfader setting and Channel 1 and 2 cruve settings?
Yo! Crossfader is set all the way to the right (in software, indicated as fast). And the channel 1 and channel 2 curves are set to 0 (12 o’clock).

That’s a really good question! At this very moment, I’m not sure. There’s nothing out right at this moment that I feel like I need to try but I’m hoping that changes soon.

Depends honestly! As I’ve used both more, it’s hard to pick one! I like the Rane for mixing and creativity, but the Rane for its hardware FX, scratching, and familiarly due to me coming from the S9 mixer

Yes, you can do this with any controller that has stems!

I did a review on the FLX10 recently, but haven’t used the SRT or the FLX10 too much. This video is more so focused on what I’ve personally been using/used the most.

Don’t buy a Rane product Rane 4 I own 8 months in and platter problems No more Rane for me I gave them a try I’m a pioneer guy never had a issue with anything I bought from cdj to mixers to controllers not one issue
I wouldn’t say “don’t buy them”, however, my Rane twelves do have an issue while I can’t remember a time I’ve ever had an issue with pioneer. Think it just depends on the product but I’m a huge pioneer guy too.
