Rev- 7
Not used rane one but I love the rev 7.
Thank you Carlo for the in-depth-comparison video. I really appreciate it.
I've been waiting for the longest time butI now understand why you took this long to upload this.
I would really love to go REV-7 but space and price wise, it's a real challenge for me. And Djay pro AI latest integration is really up to the game and for that I can live with Rane ONE.
I'm not bargain for any controllers yet but I'm still waiting and hoping for NUMARK's 4 channel Mixstream controller with engine OS display builtin.
Anyway, I really enjoyed the video. Thank you!
Thanks for the comment Jun! Really appreciate this as well, and I'm glad you enjoyed the REV 7 review.
Thanks for the detailed review!
Thanks man! Was pretty surprised to see you drop a comment! 😆
*_Never had this issue in mind._*
Interesting! Thanks for pointing that out
Also it may be unfounded, but when I think of high quality, turntabilist gear I always think of Rane.
Rane is definitely up there when it comes to creating good turntablist gear!
I think it maybe comes down to playing style & needs. Both have features the other doesn’t, enough to make it a legitimately tough decision. As useful as those extra screens are, I like the Rane’s ability to add 3rd party tonearms and play real records, and the fact that it supports Djay Pro, plus the build you get for a few hundred less is worth noting.
That's true. It's all about YOUR wants and needs and how you'll use your equipment. I get ya! That feature on the Rane One is amazing!
Rane ONE has metal outside whereas Rev7 has metal inside the build quality is more or less identical just cant see it from the outside of the Rev and it does now also work with Djay
Amazing thorough review! I wish the REV 7 had the needle search strip, and click at 0 on the pitch. The face plate is delicate and I can see it wearing out in the future.
That click at 0 is what I'd love for it to have too!
The best thing you said that made me say this my next controller was “It made me a better DJ better!” A mouthful! Great video.
Heck yeah! If it helps you practice scratching, then it's worth it Mixxthat!
I’ve had mine now for about three months. I love it!!
Glad to know Rick! Hope you're enjoying it!
just got mine yesterday and used it on my 1st gig. I found the placement of the pitch bend 'weird', would have prefered to be actually near the pitch section. also, a 'click' on the 0 pitch position would have been great. but hey, no unit is perfect and I have to acknowledge they did an amazing job, very satisfied !
Hope they listen to the reviews from their first foray into this kind of controller!
No 0 "click" on the FX-10 which is just an oversight
You are amazing
great and informative..
I learnt to dj and improved my skills of DJ'ing...
❤❤💕
Thanks dude! So happy to have been a part of your DJ journey!
After using both for months, I find myself reaching for the Rane every time, especially after upgrading the slipmats and vinyls, there's just no comparison!
That's fair Alalpwn! Different strokes for different folks, and I've heard a lot of people say the same when comparing the two
Yo alapwn, I’m just getting back into Deejaying after 5 years, which slipmats and vinyls did you get or from where. Thanks man. I can Google, but I don’t really know which site is the best anymore
Just what i did , i feel more smooth
I'm teaching myself to scratch with DJ Shortee's videos and she advises watching the line indicator on your turntable rather than the wavefrom in the software. Very interesting that Carlo doesn't need the line indicator at all!
That's actually a very good tip! Old school, but proven to be very effective Brian. I don't really use it anymore, but it's good advice!
Being at the jog wheels spin I think the line indicated would be very useful.
Thank you for the great update DJ Carlo!! I'm a big fan of DDJ-1000SRT and thinking of switching (or perhaps add-on) a REV7. I mostly perform in events and a few gigs here and there. My frequent use are mixes, less on scratches, enjoy entertaining crowds with my 80s collection. Is getting REV7 a life changer? And no, I'm not rich ;)
It’s not a life changer! You’re better off with the 1000 if you’re not into motorized platters :)
I just purchased a Rev 7 a few weeks ago and everything you said is dead on. The controller is awesome. I can’t stay off of it and haven’t fired up my old S9 since I got my rev 7 lol.
Dang! I'm glad you think so. But dont forget to give your S9 some love too haha
After a 5 hour set last nite i did not find the pitch fader position fatiguing at all. Likely due to it not being as far to reach as on a Technics 1200 say. Those extra 4 or so inches make a big difference. Also i dont scratch enough to the point where i would be causing that much damage over the faceplate BUT you bringing this potential issue up is key as we should all know the positives and negatives of this very expensive controller!
Amen dude! Glad you didn't experience the same problem I did. I just want controllers to be more uniform on the tempo fade side department. It's hard to go back and forth lol
Great work. With focus in the scratches players. This guys are the real users at this controllers
Indeed! I actually can't wait to see how future motorized jogwheel controllers hold up
Nice review Mr dj nice work we can now know what works for us
That's the goal of these reviews! Glad you found them helpful!
Hi Carlo! Great review. What are your thoughts on the customisability of the slip mats on the rev 7? What do you use?
They're great! I actually removed that section from the video. For me, the default mode is good!
Thanks for the update i own the rane 1 and its a definite scratchers tank. That thing is a battleship and well worth the money its super dope. i just ordered the rev 7 and i know one thing im going to like is the mixer and fx section since i own a s9 and s11 cant wait to check those platters out. i do a lot of setups for djs so adding the rev 7 should be a great asset but I may keep it close to me at first lol thanks again for the awesome review.
Is this E Swift from the Liks?
@@MrCorykjr No bro not from the akaholics lol from Techno City 313
For sure E Swift! Can't wait for you to lay your hands on the Rev7, and glad you liked the review!

So good and honest comparison!
Thanks Thomas! Glad you enjoyed the review and the recommendation!
Very informative review 👏
Thanks Kingmon! Just giving as much as I can for this one, so the review is as comprehensive as possible!
Great video, love you stuff! What is the extra device you were using occasionally in this video? I think you were triggering samples from it? A black box with blue pads. Also is it just triggering your Serato sample decks or something else? Thanks for the help!
I believe that's the Traktor Kontrol X1, but I'm not sure. I don't recall the device in the video. Do you have the timestamp?
@@djcarlo thanks for the quick reply! You can see the device at 6:40 . I’ll have a look into the Kontrol x1, but is there anything you’d recommend these days for triggering samples / scratch banks through Serato, with hopefully easy and deep integration? I’m basically trying to provide more buttons for quicker access with my Rane 72. Thanks again!
That was the coolest intergrated advert I've even seen. A true Dj lol.
Learned from my friends in radio! Hahaha
Thanks Carlo for the video. A question from a Techno/Tech House DJ, is this a good upgrade of an old DDJ-SB2 setup ? It's purely for use in my home studio and while doing small gigs (50-100 people). I have had turntables from 1998 to 2006, I do know a little bit of scratching and I'm sort of willing to go back and implement some scratching in my livesets. I just need to know if it's a good upgrade for Techno/Tech House. There isn't much stock lately and from my sources at Pioneer DJ, there won't be much stock in the next 8-12 months either. I ám willing to put 1800-2000 euro into it.
If you're going for generally tech house and techno, the DDJ 1000 would be a better upgrade if you can find stocks of it. I'd say the REV7 would've been good if you really scratched a lot, but since you only do a little bit, it would just be a very costly controller with features you may not need :)
You peaked my interest regarding the Tidal bit because I also use Tidal for 90% of my DJing. When you mentioned #4, playing offline you said you can play tracks offline provided you downloaded the songs into your offline locker. I didn't think Tidal had that ability yet? Can you elaborate on what you were speaking abou there? I enjoy your videos!!
You can download songs to your off-line locker for listening, But if you want to use those downloaded songs for djing you may have to do a few exploits That are not officially supported by Tidal! But they have been working for me so give it a try if you’re a techie hehe
RANE ONE !
- Tank metal build
-Easy one power cord universal, cleaner on external cords/ transformers.
-Cleaner wiring , Inputs Outputs all compress in one side
-Less deep,More tall less stress on your back.
-Pitch on the sides LESS STRESS ON YOUR BACK for djs that play more than 3 h
- You can ADD REAL VINYS to play w a turntable adapter.
- MORE adds on like NS7 SCREENS.
- You can conect to a Phone tablet
-Easy find one dollar custom, make replace fix etc the DISCS.
Good to know! Very solid build quality on that one!
Nice review, I’m torn between getting the Rev-7, Rane One, and the DDJ-1000srt. I have a guy who can get me the Rev7 and is going to let me know when it comes in, maybe by the end of this week. I really enjoyed the review Carlo thank you!
Ohhhh, like I said Benny, you might wanna consider getting that!
@@djcarlo oh ok I will, any advice? I know it’s up to me but if I’m missing out on something, I’d like to know. Oh btw when I asked about the ddj-1000srt he said there’s a new one coming, which I would like but may just wait it out.
Good review! I prefer the Rane One to be honest!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Both controllers are good and I can't really complain!
Just wanted to ask you two questions please reply
1. When I buy pioneer DJM- S11 do I get searto control vinyl ?
2. After buying pioneer DJM - S11 how to activate searto pro do we get licenses key or something or else 🤔 I have first download a trial version of searto pro and connect the mixer ? It will automatically get full version of searto pro ?
Please response 🙏 I really want to know
Sorry my English is bad 😅 hope you understand
Nope! Getting an S11 will get you, well, the S11, and you'll need to buy the control vinyl separately. But, it should allow you to use Serato DJ Pro for free from what I recall.
thanks for the information, really nice that i found this video so i can choose in peace the rev 7 =)))
That's great! I'm sure you'll enjoy the REV7!
Hey Carlo, do you know if you can chain Serato effects for the rev-7? Like can you use clean echo out + reverb for one deck at a time. I have the Rev-7 but can’t figure it out.
I haven't tried yet, but I don't think so. Let me see if I can prove myself wrong!
Hello I love your update and look forward to a Rev 7 dome day .
I believe that Rev7 is now compatible with virtual dj. ATOMIX RELEASE a mapping to be able to use the controller.
But men I enjoy your detail. Much love from cameroon 🇨🇲
I've been told too! Haven't had the chance to try it yet though on VDJ.
Dropped Pioneer and Serato over 2 years ago. DDJ-SX running Pro on MacBook, had many glitches. Face on mixer & platters did the same as your crossfader. Terrible wear & blemishes. Picked up a Prime4 and never looked back.
Glad to hear it! The Prime 4 is such an underrated controller! I'm happy you're enjoying it!
I would go with the rane-one as i mostly dj with house music and its sub geners but i have a wish to learn scratching. And i think rane-one will the best bang for buck for a beginner.
Good to know Divyansh! The Rane One might be more well-suited for your needs
We need Vestax to be Reborn 🔥
Specially the VCI series.
Where is the old Vestax hardware development staff now I wonder? Some eccentric billionaire who loves weird DJ gear needs to find them and assemble a team ASAP!
Denon DJ is the new Vestax! Denon has been doing crazy things!
Denon DJ seems to be making all the weird gear nowadays . Them and Numark!
@@djcarlo Fair point! I’d say Reloop gets points here too for the RP-8000 and maybe the Beatpad 2!
This looks more like a review/comparison rather than a HUGE problem. 🤷🏽♂️
Hehe I tried to squeeze a lot of info into this video!
Click bait lol

The huge problem is that dude lives on click bait titles over substance. No wonder no one wants to send you gear. Keep crying to other reviewers about how no one likes you, because no one does.
been using the srt 1000 and so far so good.Am grateful
That's one of the best controllers out there!
@@djcarlo yeh right buddy
DJ Carlo thank you for everything you have done. You have helped me fulfill my dream of being a DJ. Your a legend and I can't thank you enough. Much love dude
That's awesome bud! Really glad I had a hand in your DJourney!
I wanna see you comparing the REV7 to the 1000/1000SRT since these are also popular, even today. I have never seen you comparing a different model on a same brand, the last one I saw is usually the DDJ-200 vs. 400
Let me save you some time and let you know that the 1000 is better for more normal DJing and mobile use! The REV7 is good for people who really value motorized platters!
What about the sound quality ? I would take that into consideration too , so which one deliver better sound output ?
They both sounded the same for me! That's why I didn't delve into that
Dj carlo i would like to see you make a video of using turntables playing vinyl connected to rev7. I like that effects are built into mixer and wana see how they work with real vinyl. I would lke a rev7 for my bedroom and would be nice to listen to my vinyls through it.
Oh that's a nice suggestion! Let me see what I can do about that one. Thank you for the idea :)
Hey Carlo is it possible to customise the jog display on the 800 or any of the other ddj to show wave forms the way the rev7 does where you can easily see where your scratching on the jog
From what I know, that is a setting already in the 800 and 1000! It's just horizontal instead of vertical
Hey, Carlo. Could you test and say if the Rev7 works on Rekordbox v5? I know that in theory it doesn`t cause its made for Serato, but I have a SX2 that works.
It's not. Rekordbox has pretty much migrated everything to V6, so I highly doubt the REV7 will be backwards compatible when it's not compatible with Rekordbox from the get go. Sorry!
I have accidentally hit the pads on the RANE One decks with my arms/wrists multiple times in the middle of a gig. I prefer the pads on the mixer which is why I’m thinking of getting the Rev 7. I just wish the pitch control was vertical and not horizontal. After a 3 hour set, I wonder how tired my arm would get? Sounds silly but worth considering
Oh, that's LEGIT an issue to consider! Never had that problem with the Rane One myself, but if you did, then I'm sure others out there have also encountered that. Thanks for letting us know about that Brian!
I love my rane one but I love controllers with screens. If rane does another controller, I would like to see some kinda display in it somewhere.
Hmmmm, maybe that's their next step?
Use an iPad… Rane One works with Djay Pro and its stems…
I'm not a Scratch DJ and I'm feeling very good with ny Denon DJ Prime4. I really don't understand how to mix when the waveforms are shown on different turntables so far away from each other and are very small. On the 10 inch scrreen of the Prime4 that works out really great for me...
All comes down to your ears when they're apart! But I believe they're for scratch DJ's to more accurately pinpoint where their samples/tracks begin
I added a black sticker wrap around the crossfader area to preserve the faceplate. I like to show the wear and tear on some of my other mixers, like a badge of honor, but not for this haha.
Definitely not for this! Actually, I've seen that on a few DJMs in clubs around The Philippines too; easy way to keep it rust free too
I prefer rev 7 because like you said the 3.5 lcd screen on the deck is cool and if you want pretty much a standard portable turntable setup thats the rev 7/rane one controller i really love both controls butt if i had to choose one i would say the rev 7(no hate to the rane one) buuuut one question if i had the rev 7 can i use rekordbox (not getting one :() ) js askin
Cool to know we share the same opinion on this! Yeah the REV7 is dope. So far it doesn't work with Rekordbox DJ!
in 10 2023 what are our options for a moving platter? and what about Stems in 2023 with these units? DAm I have only used rekordbox and was leaning toward rev7 upgrading for my mobile DJ setup
There's the REV7, Rane One, and Hercules T7. Those are the only new moving platter controllers 😄
Very well said. 👍👍
Thanks Filip! Glad you enjoyed the review!
Although I have Serato Pro I find myself using VDJ for weddings. You mentioned the Rev7 is only compatible withSerato. Is that still true?
Not anymore! I believe VDJ is also compatible with the REV7. Rekordbox is still hands off though Jim
I've got my 72/12 rane that I love but ofcourse something more mobile is nice. I may go with the rane 1 for similarity sake. Thanks for the review though. Still thinking.
Glad you're really debating on this one Kyle! This isn't a cheap decision to make haha
Carlo if I buy this controller and only need one speaker, plus an xlr cable, will I only be able to hear one side of the deck? Or will I still be able to hear both sides of the deck while I’m mixing
You'll hear both decks! Only caveat is, if your Serato is set to stereo and your tracks pan around, you may lose out the left or right frequency if you only use one XLR cable
I currently use ddj-sx2 and am debating what to buy next. I have a ddj1000-srt on order notification and rev-7 from sweetwater! It’s been months and months. I could not live with faceplate wear for sure. Worried about rev 7 long term durability. I Dj mostly weddings and mobile events. I might just purchase the SRT if it ever comes in stock
As long as you don't go too hard on the crossfader (which I'm sure won't be too much of a problem at weddings), then you should be alright. Sweetwater should be having them soon though!
I honestly love that faded look on mixers/controllers. But I also like just about all my stuff to look more worn. Shoes, bicycles, this, etc.
To each their own there I guess! I like my shoes clean, so I guess that also translates over to my mixers and controllers.
Hey I need your opinion!
Is 8t better to buy a cdj2000 nxs2+DJM900nxs2 or a ddj400?
I'm not a professional dj but I want lots of features! Btw they are at the same price too, can you help me decide what to do?
Gotta point out, whoever is selling you a CDJ/DJM combo at the same price as a DDJ 400 is crazy. 2000s and the 900 for sure man.
@@djcarlo I've seen it in an online store, it might be a scam though or they might have mistyped the price, but thanks for the advice!
What about the xfader curve and dead space of the rev7? The rane1 curve is rubbish (not sharp enough) and the lag cannot be reduced to 0mm (adding additional washers is required).
On the website, it says it’s about .1mm
I use the Re. 7 with my virtual DJ and everything works great, I use the stems and video a lot it all feels good and natural. I just figured I would let you know that the software is out there and available. Thank you for another great video, see you soon...
Thanks for letting me know about that! Looks like more and more software options are popping up!
thanks man made my choice REV7; coming from a NS7iii
It's pretty awesome! Honestly one of my favorite motorized controllers
I feel like the perfect controller for me would be one with the simplicity of the Rane One and the layout of the REV7. I hope one of these companies can come up with something like that in the future!
That sounds like a budget Rane One or REV7! I'm sure they're gonna do that in the future. Stay tuned :)
We need a Rane 0.5
I think Rane 1.5 would be a better name since it's really just a Rane one with a different layout
Same!! I love the simplicity of the Rane, but the mixer is what has me torn with the Rev7. I would even love to see the 72 mixer on the next Rane controller.
I own a Rane One and that may be one of the biggest head scratchers (second only to the One having software fx only) that they didnt at least put the performance pads in the mixer section. I dont mind wherever the pitch fader is, I like both ways just fine. Overall I think I am happy I chose Rane over Rev7, i like pioneer gear but for the price, they often cut many corners that you dont notice until youve become totally familiar with the gear. For 1.9k, I dont want to feel like I can break the controller over my knee. The Rane One will absolutely break your knee. That is hugely important for mobile DJS that desire a quality, yet portable controller. The weight only inconvenienced me one time so far when I was performing at a music festival and couldnt find parking or load in parking near my stage and had to carry my Rane One 4 blocks to the stage lol. Other than that. Absolutely in love with the One.
I love my Rane One. Rev7 is a srt 1000 with spinning platters.
Hahahaha, love the way you put it!
Thanks for the vid but I'm confused about the "Tidal offline locker". Since when is it possible to play (Tidal) tracks offline in Serato?
It is via some exploits! :D
@@djcarlo can you elaborate?
@@djcarlo Got it. Thanks!
Bro the next video should be on comparing comparing the pioneer DJ flx 6 and the pioneer ddj 400 is it still worth of buying and which controller is better
A bit hard to do, as they're different tier controllers! It's like comparing green and yellow mangoes
@@djcarlo 😂😂ya that's why i am telling u to do that because only a experienced farmer can compare yellow and green mangoes.. like u are a pro dj so u can do and it's a great content hope u do it in the next video bro take this as a challenge
@@_SAMMY_MUSIC_ Bwahaha, we'll see! I already did my reviews on both in the past, so unless new controllers in the same tier come up, my opinions will probably stay the same.
I bought a Rane One soon after they came out. The deck faders from day one skipped and acted as if old and dirty. I know you'll need to send it in for warranty work. The problem is the issue was likely just how it is designed, maybe they fix the issue or most likely the technician would plug in and test the features, and like when we go to the doctor or take a car into the shop things work fine. I would get my controller back doing the same things. I decided to fix the issue myself for mere pennies. And this remained the only issue I would have with my Rane One until the motors went out of sync. Unlike the RANE 12s, they can recalibrate the sync between motors. RANE One doesn't have such a feature. The answer is to send it in to replace the motors. The RANE One looks brand new now and won't stay in sync. Yes, tried all the tips and troubleshooting RANE asked me to try, Serato asked me to do, Virtual DJ asked me to do, and many of the online tips and suggestions in different forums. If anyone knows of a method I can recalibrate my RANE One with, please share it, so I can try it out. I won't sell my RANE One because the repair will be costly for the person buying it.
The REV 7 Pioneer technical support answered a question. Can the motors of REV 7 be recalibrated to be in sync when they eventually start to drift? Pioneer answered that the motors are not involved in the movement of the music.
The software controls the music and the motors are for tactile interface only. So if the motors start to drift or spin at different speeds, they will not affect the playback of the music.
I plan to buy a REV 7 with a 12-Inch Skin vinyl wrap to preserve the finish of the Rev 7. I own a DDJ SX-2 and the finish has worn off on it in places.
I want to finish with I love your videos, dedication to providing accurate factual information.
I try to be as accurate and true with my reviews as possible! Thanks for giving us a little low down as well on the Rane One
You are my go-to DJ for your amazing insight. I appreciate the amount of effort and time you put into your content.
Just bought my Rev7 & I also own a Rane One so thanks for the info & tips!
That's awesome Rico! Best of both worlds there!
I don't understand how anybody that's come from playing long sets on turntables and not like the placement of the pitch faders. The placement is perfect. No more nonscience around the platter. Finally a controller that isn't copying all other controllers or CDJs. This controller makes me want to play on it.
A lot of Retro DJs I know don't use the turntables in "battle" orientation, so they've got gripes with the pitch fader placement too! But I'm glad Pioneer did something for the turntablists here!
@DJ Carlo sure. But unless you're doing tricks, you should never be spending that much time on the fader per track anyhow.
I'm Just waiting for Rane, Piooneer, Denon or Numark to come with a controller that has decent size platters and stems with volume faders for each stem !!! That would be my game changer !!!!
Something like the Native Instruments Traktor Kontrol s8 but with a motor platter like the Rane 1 !!!
I think that would be the ultimate god-tier controller! Sounds like an absolute dream come true! Also, a really quick way to empty your wallet hahahaha
Reloop is coming out with controller that doesn't have moving platters but has jog displays with track info (no waveforms) and will be 4 channel with 4 effect paddles and will also have effect knobs that if you use Djay, will turn those into stems knobs with their AI thingy that somehow can make stems out of any track. Personally haven't been a fan of Djay but can't knock some unique features. The controller will support dvs so you could have spinning platters if you hooked turn tables to it. The Mixon 8 I think it is, coming out towards the end of the year. Something you may want to consider, I'm interested in it myself.
Djay pro on their website says it’s compatible with the rev 7 can you please make a video djing using djay pro showing the functionality with one another??
Let's see bud! More mixes coming soon, and I'll see if Djay Pro works as well as Serato with the REV7
I think the Rev 7 is cool, but personally I fell in Love with my Denon Prime 2. The overall features included won me over lol
The Prime 2 will go down as a criminally underrated gem/cult classic now that they’ve discontinued it:( I think maybe they realized they underpriced the Prime 4 at only $300 more and didn’t want to hurt sales of that unit, and since they have the Rane One and the Mixstream and the Prime Go in their stable, maybe they saw the 2 as a redundancy? Idk, I agree with you though, the Prime 2 kinda hits a sweet spot for me. Wish I had scooped one up when I had the chance!
That controller is so underrated. It didn't sell as much but it seems it has a good following! Good on you for enjoying the unit!
I gotcha dude! That's a good way of looking at it!
@@mode7beats I was wondering why I couldn't find Prime 2s anywhere. I didn't realized they had discontinued it. Now I really hope they come out with an Engine enable motorized 2 deck unit
@@jerrardbeasley4247 Actually, I should clarify: I based that on some rumors I heard on Reddit that sounded like that was very likely the case, but also Denon has never released an official statement about the 2 being discontinued, and it’s still on the Prime series main page(complete with one of Carlo’s videos!😎). But it looks like they’re definitely pushing the Prime 4 and Prime Go pretty thoroughly while leaving the 2 a bit further out in their marketing focus, from what I can see. So it’s still definitely current gen, but whether they ship any more will be the question…
Great review of the two controllers. One thing you said that was incorrect is that the REV7 only works with Serato. It does also work with VirtualDJ Pro, which is what I have been using for years and love over Seeato.
Ah. When this review was released, the mapping to VDJ wasn't out yet I believe. Compatibility started around the same time I released this video, so I couldn't change that anymore
Merci! enfin quelqu'un d'honnete!
Indeed! I wanted to give my honest opinion about the REV7
I have both the Rane One & Rev7. I also have the Pioneer SX2. The Rane One, a few months in, the pitch is off center on both. It has to be slowed down equally on both sides to get the correct pitch zeroed. Other than that, no issues. I have never had an issue though with any controller I've bought from Pioneer. So, as it stands right now, it's the Rev7 for me, hands down. The pitch controll placement is not a deal breaker for me. This controller gets the job done with no worries about it's future functionality and endurance. Well worth the money.
That's crazy! Sad to hear that the Rane One let you down so quickly. Thanks for doing a comparison though! I do love hearing about other's experiences with their controllers
Any problems with the Rev 7 for you so far?
Almost 6 months in... No problems at all with the Rev7. Very solid controller. Regardless of the price point, I'd definitely recommend it. It's worth that price, especially with the mixer, which is on par with an S9 or S11 Pioneer.
My favorite controller hands down I just don’t like the placement of the 33/45 rpm I hit it accidentally all the time
Just gotta adjust I guess! I've honestly done the same on my pair of 1200s. Hitting 33 instead of Start/Stop haha
I thought they may have put the pitch faders on the rev 5 in the lower right to model someone using cdj’s and an s-series mixer.
And to speak on Tidal, I love how you can add songs into a folder using the software. However, the songs just don’t load as reliably as beatsource. If beatsource could allow you to add a song on the fly from the computer it would perfect.
Right! I wasn't able to do a full review, but I will mention that on my year end DJ Gear video. I appreciate the battle set up, but it just doesn't make any sense without a tone arm in the way
How do you download tidal tracks to your offline locker..? That would be game changer for me. I haven’t been able to figure that out on rekordbox, plz halp 😩
Unfortunately, it's not yet available on Rekordbox. I just checked :(
@@djcarlo pain 😭 ok how does it work on serato if u don’t mind explaining? I’ve been meaning to get serato as well anyway
Can you please do a DDJ-Rev1 review because im planning on buying i just wanna see what you prefer
I actually prefer the REV7 by all means. We'll see about a REV1 review in the future though
@@djcarlo Thanks!
It’s THE RANE ONE which will be the Longterm WINNER in Durability etc.
Plastic Vs. Metal
Admittedly, the Rane One does have lovely build quality.
Hi Carlo I need xdj xz but I’m skeptical buying online looking at the price and I’ve never buy anything online any advice dj tino from Africa Zambia
Hmmmm, compare the price to the price on Amazon, etc. Also, if you're buying online, make sure it comes from a reputable seller, or you get to see the equipment or have it in your hands before you part with any money.
Rev7 is much better for my situation as an open format wedding DJ. I’ve owned both FYI.
Dang! Not everyday you meet another person who's owned both! Thanks for letting us know your preference too :D
I guess I don’t DJ enough because in 6 years since I’ve been using Pioneer controllers and mixers ( SRT 1000, Rev 7, and S9). None of them have ever had faceplate issues.
Maybe you're just way more careful with your equipment!
did you download your Tidal tracks to an offline locker on your computer or phone?
Computer Sean! Easier to access
@@djcarlo I don’t have that feature in my tidal desktop app
Could the faceplate thing be preventend by maybe something like a sticker or anything?
Yes, but ideally, a good faceplate shouldn't need a sticker or anything similar
@@djcarlo Indeed!
Can you please make a video like
How to use Edjing as a pro dj? 👍😅
I've never actually tried Edjing, so I can't make a video about it! Sorry!
Sorry to ask but how am I supposed to listen offline with tidal, in serato for example¿
I don’t know from where to download in tidal
It's tricky! Best to check their website. I'm not too updated at the moment
@djcarlo did Pioneer ever address the coating on this?
Probably not lol. I think I'm just a vocal minority 😅
@djcarlo lol, truth and fair enough! They should listen to you on this one. Easily addressable at the factory.
Can you do a video on an open source DJ software called "MIXXX"? It is cross platform so it's for windows, Mac AND Linux. I'm exclusively on Linux so it works out of the box. I would like to get your professional opinion on the software as well as your opinion on DJing on Linux in general. Your channel is awesome 👍 watching from Los Angeles
Cool~ I heard about em! Hopefully they can reach out to the channel and we can do something amazing!
@@djcarlo it is completely free by the way and it records in any format and does internet broadcasting. So give it try see what you think.
He went from not liking the Rev7 to loving it 😂
Right?! I had misgivings about it at first, but boy oh boy did I start loving it at the end!
Is it possible to go on Decks 3 or 4 on the REV7, like you can with the REV1?
Not too sure! Hasn't occurred to me to try that. Let me get back to you!
@@djcarlo Thanks for replying btw! I contacted Pioneer about it, they said it cannot at all :(, if it could this would've been my next upgrade.
Been using mine for 2 weeks and scratches on the faceplate is starting to build up and to be honest I'm not even scratching hard since I'm a beginner when it comes to scratching. What I did is always make sure that my nails are cut to the point that it doesn't touch the plate and put some tape to cover the lower part of the mixer. lol
The tape method seems to be the best one Ryan! Though, we shouldn't need to put tape on our faceplates hahaha
I don't know if it'll work but maybe you can apply some flex seal or something else to cover that area. You would have to reapply it from time to time but it should stop the color from fading
Great Tutorial, i have sell my Rane One, but want to Comeback to Her lol, Solid Steel yes, Very Professionnal, But Effects On Pioneer are Better, Of course The Magnificent Reverb, also a larger space To do With the Decks, so i don't know if i comeback to my Rane One Or buy The DDJ, very difficult, i think i will do with feeling, instinction, cause That Two Controlers are the Best Actually, Thank you again :)
You're welcome! Hope you get to choose which controller you really feel you belong with! 🥳
I have both controllers and i love them.
That's awesome Dtek! Lucky too that you have both!
where can i buy the rane one ? and how much ph price bro ?
Check JB Music for that!
Haha very common with their mixers also wear on the face plate , they have never sorted that out and yes Rev pitch position is madness near the buttons it will slow your work flow lol
I really wish they'd fix the face plate issue though! On ALL their mixers haha
not a scratch dj but i prefer the look of the rev 7 but if i were to buy either controller i would likely get the rane one the on jog display to me is more of a distraction
Good to know you've got your ideas on both Alex! Interesting angle on the jog display too
2:15 Did anyone else notice the delay between the hand/disc movements on the scratch disc, and the wave form display in the center of the platter? 😵💫 I've seen the same thing in other review/test videos.
It's really a thing! Thankfully, it doesn't affect the audio output
I have a gut feeling that The One MKII is going to be a real game changer. Taking into account the direction that InMusic is going, i'm thinking the next rendition of The One is going to be a standalone unit with WiFi streaming... a cross between a Mixstream Pro & Prime 2 with motorized platters w/ A-Trak'ish Seventy mixer section...Cherry on top, make it DJay Pro compatible & they'll have a Rev7 killer.
What would be dope
Numark ns7mkiii the best controller of them all
Came here to say exactly this!
The ball is on Rane's side now. I know they'll come up with something even better than the current units available. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Best of ReV7 and Rane One!
I’m Still working to buy the Rane One so I’ll let you know soon lol
I'll be waiting for your thoughts Star!
Can you show all the controllers or equipment you have
I show that already in the videos Michale! :D
I love ddj 1000srt and sr2 and then rev1,ddj 400
You got an amazing collection going on! That's awesome, dude!
Is there a way to delete loops with in a song without having to go to the laptop?
If you mean getting out of a loop, you just need to press the loop button again
@@djcarlo I know how to turn the loop off. You know how you can have a bunch of saved loops for 1 songs? Can you delete those loops on the rev7 controller or do have to delete it from serato on my lap top?
