  • The new Pioneer DJ DDJ-REV7 is a 2 channel battle style Serato controller with 7" vinyl-style motorised platters, and layout that emulates a pro-level Pioneer DJM-S mixer and turntable setup. We thought we'd better reach out to our mate DJ GhostNotes and get him in to take a look at this killer looking controller.

I was struggling to decide between Rev7 and Rane One. But at this point it's gonna come down to which one is available. I am ordering one or the other this week, but if the Rev 7 will still take a month to deliver. Then Rane One it is. Also, I dont know what it is, I feel like Rane One scratching sounds better. More like an actual control vinyl, whereas Pioneer has spinning jog wheels with Rane One being closer to control vinyl. The scratching seems more authentic on Rane One. Nevertheless Rev7 looks like a great controller, and the on Board effects is of course a big advantage of Rev7. But it needs to be in stock!

Yes, 45...which could be rpm...or his age. I think turntables like THAT is us older guys!! Now I understand the ‘ghost note’ part. Maybe he drums, too.

Iv been practicing but like I said I thought I had it to a tee .. but would you say that the key is to find as many rhythm/patterns with 1 sample to improve skills . I see you switch to a channel from fader do you string samples together in programs

Have you tried the Rane One? Interested to know the difference from a turntablist

I prefer the lay out on the pioneer.. much easier to navigate and more features.

Rev 7 over Rane one just cause of the Crossfader alone! Only thing is, the Rane one could play 45’s with an attachment and you can customize your slipmats/control vinyls on the it too..

How you get your jog wheels like that mine super stiff

  • @chrisshinakadjredikulus7898

Hi there! I have had a Rev7 for about 2 weeks now and I have had an issue with marker drift when beat juggling. My marker starts at 12 O'clock and after about a dozen juggles ends up at 1 O'clock. This happens even with the instant scratch beat loop without a laptop plugged in. So it can't be a Serato issue. Have you noticed this same issue? Thanks!

Ive read this a fair bit, interested to see if there is a fix

@@bulletboom2097 There is a fix! In the Serato settings, turn "Anti-drift" OFF. Didn't make sense at 1st, but Pri yon Joni explained how antifrift works and what it's for. It's meant to keep two tracks from drifting while playing (not for turntablism). That feature gets confused when you start beat juggling.
