Those are the transitions Starfield should've done smh
Exactly what I was thinking when I saw that gameplay.
But we still loathe loading screens right... right?
It's still a loading screen.
@@MasterChud88 Its still a good solution for a game like this. Not everything needs to be insanely ambitious
To be honest I really dont care about any of this. As long as its a good story.
Huh, it’s basically how SC planned to do landings in 2012.
That was exactly how it was going to work. It's nice to know what it would have been like had it stayed that way. Not that I'm not happy with the current design of SC. I love it.
Meanwhile casually flying my hammerhead through the first 100 km of a planet to get to my destination in a spline jump
Oof, shots fired haha
Huh, I didn't know that.
Yeah that's very interesting. Looks like it works well for what they are aiming to do. I'm glad it's not like Starfield, and obviously they opted not to do it SC's way. For the people who want the options, I'm glad they have them.
Cloud-based Loading-screen... artistic way to conceal the load at the start.
Literally, but gotta admit, I got bamboozled at first😂. Thought it was legit better than SC for a sec. But realized upon further inspection, there was wayyy to much cloud and fog entering that atmosphere. Something fishy was up.
Yes, just like helldivers iirc.
NMS does the same.
@zacharygilbert6938 No it doesnt?
@@Namaka420 all these games makes me appreciate SC even more. To be honest, I just lauched SC while writing this. I need the Hornet F7A.
"Almost"...I would call it a well-made loading screen
Thats what the asterisk is for. tbh i dont expect seamless from any game other than SC at this point, but what they do here is EXACTLY what starfield should have done.
Remember to never preorder, specially from ubisoft.
I already did this game looks amazing!

I wish people would stop calling it an RPG it looks like it's not even remotely related to RPGs. At best it looks like an open world action adventure game.
Gonna call it an RPG just because it annoys you.
also you have no fuckin idea how much choice and roleplaying is involved in it. With your reasoning Witcher 3 isnt an RPG either, just an open world action adventure game
smh
@@katraapplesauce1203 To be fair its Bethesda games and i personally expect very very minimal choice and roleplaying being available to me. It just not how their games are made.
Get with the times. Nowadays people call any big open world game where you play as a set character an RPG as long as you can make even the tiniest of choices during dialogue (RDR2, Witcher 3, this game). Doesn't matter that you can't create your own character nor level up their attributes.
This looks like a fun RPG so far.
@@blackfoxstudioX are you insane? Morrowind, oblivion, Skyrim, fallout 3,4 are all roleplaying games. Bethesda's open world RPGs are like "the" RPGs outside of more dedicated d&d based titles like baldurs gate or more cinematic entries like from bioware
Star Wars: *has a massive variety of awesome-looking spacecraft*
Ubisoft: "Shitbrick it is. No you can't fly anything else."
*I want every game to be a space sim even if it makes zero narrative sense, actually thinking of it, its dumb that Han used the trashy falcon all the time, he should have upgraded to a sorosub luxury yacht because star wars has a variety of awsome looking spacecraft*

@@katraapplesauce1203? Someone wants to use one of the many cool ships in star wars lore or a badass ship like in jedi survivor and you're seriously gonna bitch. Lol get a life. Enjoy your shitbrick.
@@katraapplesauce1203 tbf Han's Falcon was a heavily modified ship so it make sense why he liked it that much. So in this game to make spaceship gameplay interesting they could give players ability to change ships or to heavily modify your own. Ideally there should be both options available but if not there should be at least one, because if you cant change ship or upgrade it what the point of having spaceship gameplay int the first place
@@katraapplesauce1203 Whoa, nice strawman buddy. They go and design one of the ugliest ships I've seen in star wars, and if it's true that's your only option, then that sucks. That thing is dogfighting fucking TIEs, yeah fucking right.
@@katraapplesauce1203 why are you so vehemently opposed to the idea of people having the option to buy different ships in what's supposed to be an RPG?
I left ubisoft to work on star citizen JUST before some of my team moved onto star wars, so its a weird occurence seeing it here lol
o7
Crazy transition my guy
Are you happy?
@@boukm3n Haha great question but yeah definitely! , I left star citizen 2.5 years ago now but it was fun! I'm happy with what I did there aswell!, the majority isn't released, but the Greycat STV (and PTV remake), MOAB, novatank cockpit and seats, MISC refueling arm were designed by me, + a lot more NDA stuff. I look back and that also makes me happy tbh!
Golgot 100.
THIS is how Starfield should have done it!!!
But it would suck? Imagine chasing someone, they enter planet's atmosphere and disappear because of the concealed loading screen or that they can not enter the atmosphere at all because devs implemented a lock during combat.
It’s like 2% better than Starfield, but hardly a game changer .. basically a slightly better loading screen with no ability to fly in atmosphere, and I guess we’ll see how “open exploring” works in outlaws. Looks cool though and I’m sure I’ll try the game
An even longer cut scene? The atmospheric entry was also can scripted.
A 1-minute cutscene as opposed to Starfield's 15-second cutscenes. Bravo! More longer cutscnenes is just what we need
@@Igor369 dogfighting tactic. Slow computer... Enemy chases you into atmosphere. You get stuck on loading screen. They load in first and fly forward. You load in second and are now behind them 😂😂😂
I have to say that I really like Ubisoft's idea here. Even though some might say that this "loading sequence" where I fly through the clouds until the final landing takes longer than going into a menu and immediately choosing the landing point, for me it's mainly about maintaining the immersive feeling. This mechanic could be used in so many other loading sequences, such as when entering a house or a new section of the map that requires loading time. For instance, instead of having a loading screen from the open world into a house, the character could use a keycard, key, face scan, or something else to open the door and thereby bypass the loading screen.
It's my personal opinion, and I just want to note that I find it nicer not to be thrown out of the game just to get a short loading screen.
A planet selection could also happen in the cockpit without having to go into a menu (see, for example, Elite Dangerous). A glance to the left or right at the auxiliary screen where such a selection can take place already contributes to the immersive gaming experience for me.
Dunno why, that landing sequence, it made me remember Levski in a way...
I miss levski all the time

Yea I’m a “story guy” but I still want a sw game that isn’t entirely narrative driven

@@mckinney9739 it could still be story driven too just have different paths depending on your choices
I wouldn’t have had a problem with transitions like that in starfield if there was actually rich and interesting places to explore on the surface that you can get lost in for hours. The way it is has you visiting planets, jumping straight to a pasted objective then leaving, and this way you rlly notice the loading screens and it’s incredibly jarring.
The hidden loading screen is strong with this one.
better than a load menu. Games are not at the level to be seamless like that with content like this
I'm old enough to still expect loading screens from everything and be pleasantly surprised when I don't see them...or when they're very artfully concealed like we saw here. Personally I think that a cloud of flame obscuring our vision from reentry makes more sense than just clouds in what was clearly a cloudless sky but it's definitely an improvement. This looks fantastic though, I'll definitely be paying attention.
Another amazing video from Morph as always!
Well it's Ubisoft, so I assume it'll have a pretty robust open world with their patented "lookit all these quest markers!!!", and consistent stealth-archer gameplay, but the story is gonna be as middle of the road as physically possible, doing their best to have as little impact on the SWU as they can. So I'll be surprised if they even commit to a Crimson Dawn leader.
Oh no. It's the old Ubisoft overpromise. Expect the game to be half this.
Honestly I’m just gonna wait for a Star Wars conversion mod for Starfield now that creation kit is out cause at least 10 years down the line I’ll still have the game 😂
I have to admit. . the transition is way better than I expected.
Did you know If you swap the s and the w in Star Wars it makes no sense what so ever
What? Who hasn't heard of Wtar Sars? Gosh.
Wait, maybe you were talking about Star Sarw. That's a bit more obscure, I admit.
Idk who Wtar is but I hope he makes a full recovery from SARS

Ironically, Wtar Sars sounds like a perfectly believable name in the Star Wars universe 😂
I can't wait to be comfortable not owning games I buy through Ubisoft
When buying isn’t owning, Piracy isn’t stealing 👌
You ever bought a game on Steam? You don't own it.
@@ConnorEllisMusic You do if you have the executable backed up on a separate hard drive that you can run without being online.
@@ConnorEllisMusic You've never owned any physical game, movie or music ever. You only purchased a license. Digital purchases in general including Steam work just like that. What Ubisoft did is different.
@@LuismaLorca Yeah, the language has been used kind of deceptively to drive a narrative. Ownership in this case refers the the right to produce and distribute it. Just because you own, say, a couch, doesn't give you the right to start making replicas and start selling them wholesale. Granted, that's a lot harder to do with a physical object, but we do have laws around counterfeiting and such. For digital products, rather than owning them, you own a license. However, this license is perpetual and non-revokable. In every sense your ownership of that license is no different than owning a couch. It doesn't give you access to the source code, or the ability to distribute copies, but it's still yours.
However, the language used has lead to a misconception that not owning the source code and IP is equivalent to not owning anything at all. And this misconception has been used as a foothold for companies to erode those rights and normalize the misconception as just how it is. For a long time, you technically still owned any digital product you bought, but the exact implementation of the guarantees that came with that had avoided needing answers. It's a mix of laziness, lack of forethought, greed, and a little bit of active malice from a plethora of companies slowly pushing what's considered acceptable further and further towards more corporate power and less consumer rights. There was a shift to tie everything to servers because it in theory was harder to pirate, no one bothered to make end of life plans because that was too far away to be worth investing time and money into, and once companies started realizing what they could get away with they started really pushing for everything to be server based services instead of merely digital products, and are actively trying to turn the not owning anything narrative from a misconception to a reality. Which is a big part of the reason everything has started moving towards subscriptions, because you don't own services, you merely get access to them for as long as you pay access to them.
Looks interesting, will have to wait and see more.
I had nothing but exceptionally negative expectations for this, but it's looking really good here. Nice coverage. Very nice handling of loading as well, well done dev & art team. That's not to say I'm going to buy it because we'll see how the pricing is, what's chopped out of the game to re-sell to you for more, etc. But that's not the dev's fault so credit where it's due. o7
I dont think we got to see free roaming of Canto Bight in the recent gameplay videos, unless Im wrong. Was there?
This looks really good...I have alot of reservations about actual gameplay but everything else looks great.
looks quite interesting. Looking forward to it.
That landing transitions remind me of the early days of SC, the space flight reminds me of Starfield, and the rest of the game reminds me of Fallen Order. I really wish these style of games (inc. Fallen Order) would have character creation, as the environments are very immersive, and character creation would make it more so.
The exclusive hookup! Nice! Thanks for the look at some gameplay.
it's like I thought it would be. The great thing about this "almost seamless" mechanic isn't pulling you out of the experience because they use the cuts that are familiar in the movies.
I saw a few people like Skillup make videos today about this game. He, in particular, had the same sentiment. The slice people are talking about is more linear than the rest of the game. We can only hope there is way more than we expect coming from this team. Cheers Morph.. I know you watched that Romulus trailer and don't intend to make content about it. But brotha, we geekin this week lol Cheers for this Star wars game info. Hope you are well.

I think it looks fantastic. It appears to deliver a deeply authentic Star Wars experience on many levels, and that really excites me. Can't wait!
This will heavily depend on how much actual open gameplay is in the hands of the player. Basically this will show in stuff like combat (if you are a superhero level character or not, how much you need to aim well, prepare beforehand, craft upgrades or boosts, know your enemies weaknesses etc - or the other option, just have combat where you go in and you win, or (rarely) lose, but without having open gameplay around influencing it), stuff like exploration (now it seems closer to Jedi Fallen Order, which was great for a Dark Souls jedi game, but its not a realy open world feel, it feels more like a legogame openworld, with bunch of puzzles and premade encounters - more like an pre-prepared exploration game, rather than real open world), stuff like crafting and upgrading (compare linear upgrades like AC Origins to something like Dead Space 3 for weapons, or any survival game for general crafting mechanics), vehicles and the need for them, sidequest quality, etc. etc. It can either be a a very nice game (like Hogwarts legacy) or something really special with solid rpg mechanics (like the Witcher 3 ) ... we shall see.
Flys through clouds then shows a scene of clear blue sky with clouds waaaaay off in the distance haha
This game looks epic. I was going to buy Starfield when the vehicle update drops, and I still might, but after seeing this, Outlaws looks like a ton of fun.
Hid the loading while in the clouds, works very well in all honesty. Looking at you, Starfield.
Tbh my biggest gripe with it is just that they aren't allowing a customized character. The last singleplayer SW game where you could make your own character was KOTOR 2, which is crazy.
Let us play aliens, M & F, etc. Idc about the character being voiced, or the name but like dang.
This game used to be beyond good and evil 2 I think.
Can’t wait for this one! It looks so good. And if I wanted to take 15 to 20 minutes to fly to a system and land it myself I would just spend an hour in Citizen to get over it. 😊
What I'm really loving from all the content I've seen so far is the audio design. The music and sound effects seem like they are going to be epic. I think this is something that Starfield was missing and that SC really needs to work on (it looks like they have the tech, now they just need the actual sound effects). Elite Dangerous did it very well
Thanks Boss
Looks good
Morphologis, I got a feeling you need to hear this (maybe you don't but better safe than sorry): Your worth is not tied to likes or subscribers! Of course you deserve likes and subscribers. Your content is really well made and entertaining. You can be sure that no matter how many subscribers or likes you get on a video, there are people who watch your content and enjoy it.
They kinda get an easy ticket, because the world building snd setting already exists and is widely available.
So turning it into a great experience will be difficult. Since players might be interested in a particular niche. But are most likely following a very narrow narrative
Nicee ❤
If this were a Steam game with no launcher and no sidecar malware I'd totally buy it. BUT ALAS. Too bad Ubisoft is a deal breaker :( The experience of being their customer and giving up ownership of my own computer to their multiple spyware exec installs, signing away privacy even when I'm not playing their games because something is always there harvesting my data, really put me off from ever buying another product from them again. That's to say nothing of being forced through a labyrinthian app store marketing experience just to get to the game when you do want to play it.
Atmospheric Fly was ready more than a decade ago and is working in many space games nowadays (No Man’s Sky, Star Citizen). Obfuscating the loading screens in a better way than Starfield did will change absolutely nothing. How many planets have you got in Outlaws? Five? Approach, press a key, watch a cutscene ... rinse and repeat.
Anyone remember 'Starlink' from a few years ago? They already had seemless space to planet and vice versa in that game.
It looks like more as a Mass Effect type experience than an open world experience.
I'm glad the industry learn something from the star field debacle.
Generally speaking, anything with the Ubisoft logo is a hard no-go. If I wanted triple layer DRM I'd look into working at wells fargo and lock myself inside a vault.
If this game allowed you to create your own character, I'd be VERY excited for it. Honestly I almost never like the pre-canned characters that video game companies come up with and that is especially true nowadays.
Well said!
I agree, but we'll probably have to wait for the next Star Wars MMO for that. This feels closer to the Cal Kestis games in design intent.
play better games then.
@@simonrockstreambraindead response..
While I love character creation, there is something nice about experiencing 'someone else's story'. You can't do that as easily if every player's character is different. At least my opinion
Nice loading screen!
flies through clouds... breaks through clouds. blue sky above...
Outlaws' open world experience and space combat seems a lot like Lego Skywalker Saga's, which is a very good thing
Oh look, it's the transitions SC originally planned. We might actually be well on our way to 100 star systems if things had worked out like this.
Instead of you must
and instead of screen going back to a loading screen for the cutscene
you get to continue to fly inside the clouds while the cutscene loads on the background
Considering that its a story driven game first and an open world second, it makes sense that you are tunneled into a designated landing zone instead of allowing you to pull Star Citizen.
So given they also never promised it, one can forgo it I think.
But still not going to play it since the company behind has lost my trust in them. So will wait for a long while to see how this goes.
i hope one day tech would be so advanced. that we can have a seamless starwars universe just like star citizen or who knows even better!
As soon as SC releases along with mod tools (as promised), count on a Star Wars full conversion mod being one of the first things that fans do.
@@robbhays8077 would love that!
I think I will enjoy it
“Exclusive gameplay” plays the footage from the gameplay everyone has seen lol
Game is looking much better than I thought.was r expecting the freedom they showed.
Definitely looks like a promising successor to Fallen Order. Unfortunatley, I don't think it will scratch my SWG itch unless there is a squill cave with a hermit at the bottom of it. 😅
The space exploration and landing really reminds me of No Mans Sky. Also it seems to be as open world as Jedi Survivor which isn't really open world due to upgrade gates blocking a lot of places.
So the ship gameplay is a mix of Starfield and starcitizen? I like.
I just want a good supporting cast, imo a good character dynamic will make or break open world games like this.
kind of cool but kind of funny how clouds spawn to hide the load screen and then on the surface the sky is clear as hell lmao
I wonder if we can walk around in our ship, play some minigames.
You know, I wasn't really looking forward to this, but after this video, I think I might give it a go once it goes on sale!
The problem with starfield was they said it was a space exploration game but you couldn’t explore anything. You can’t even land your ship on a planet…
Looks really good, had not much expectation of flight, only thing I wished was we could fly from cockpit view. Other than that, we probably won't get a game with 6DOF that isn't flight only anyway, so SC lost my interest and this looks more interesting, as it seems to have gameplay and content at least. It's Ubisoft I know, but also it's from Massive, who created one of the games I played for 1000+h, which is Division 2. And seems like they're using that same mix of linear mission with open world activities, which is a really good concept and worked amazingly in Div2.
In short, I will buy it -if I do- only several months after it comes out. I don't want to invest in an early-access copy, so I'll wait until reviewers I trust (like Yamiks and you) have had a go at it: you delivering the more velvet glove treatment and Yamiks delivering the sledgehammer edition. XD
While I've lost hope in Ubi awhile ago and am still a bit skeptical, the game does look like it has come along pretty well. We'll see what happens on release haha.
Environmental art looks about the best feature in the game. It's looks as open world as Stellar Blade, a theme park with scripted scenario locations that get reused and sold piece mail as DLC you can also farm. Is Jaba's palace on Tatooine still a 120$ DLC unlock? I stopped doing business with Ubisoft and EA long ago so really doesn't matter.
Imagine this is the only planet you visit and its just the opening intro.
nice clouds
I am absolutely NOT a fan of ubisoft or Disney/Star Wars but this looks really nice.
Star Wars Bounty Hunter was my jam back in the day and I always preferred the non-force smuggler and bounty hunter side of Star Wars.
Right at the beginning, going through a pretty obvious fog cloud that's actually a loading screen into a desert world with only slight wisps of clouds is a little jarring.
Excited to play this just wish it wasnt fully geared towards consoles and tacked on pc.. Deff turning those hit markers off if possible
0:20 That's a loading transition for sure.
still seamless tho
Great content! Love your SC vids, but this is just right on time!
Awesome video but my goodness do i miss the ultrawide aspect ratio of your Star Citizen videos
Wow, I might actually get that. Game play looks pretty solid, although I saw some stuff I wasn't terribly crazy about. Mechanics wherein time stops to accommodate you using a menu system irritate me. The graphics look acceptable to good, the physics seems pretty solid, flight looks very star wars squadrons, if the writing and story are at least as good as Fallen Order had, they got like a solid 7 or 8 on their hands.
Credit where its due the game looks visually fantastic, and their approach to the loading screens is generations ahead of bethesda.
Im not sold on the gameplay yet, i cant quite tell if they want it to be a sandbox, or scripted sequences, but nothing i've seen so far has tempted me to pay the asking price for this.
Remember, no pre-orders.
Same looks like the usual Ubisoft move of showing great graphics but nothing new when it comes to gameplay
Kinda gives me uncharted with a sci-fi skin vibes
9:40 this part feels so much like tomb raider. i think i see what to expect: good art and somewhat "on rail" gameplay. Well, as most ubisoft games.
I hope you can do merc work for the Empire.
I prefer this content over star citizen marketing videos you make
Is there ship to ship combat not just star fighter combat so that u can loot it
You incorrectly used the term "vertical slice" in two segments of this preview. The game is 2 months from release and the demo you previewed is way beyond being a proof of concept. The term "vertical slice" is generally used in the context of early to mid-development stages. It is meant to showcase a complete and polished segment of the game to demonstrate its potential to stakeholders, often before the game is fully developed.
I like being able to witness the landing and take off of my ship. My most significant issue with Starfield was how, once you'd visited a place, you could no longer land there. You were forced to loading screen teleport.
Back in KOTOR I would sometimes just watch the landing cutscenes by themselves.
My biggest concern would just be over how disappointed I've been with Star Wars lately, and that Ubisoft is involved.
At least for PC, there is actually a mod that makes your ship landing always show.

its already been said and will continue to be said but man, its incredible to me that starfield didnt do something similar. wild.
Can this be played in first person view or is it all in an immersion breaking third person view?
Looks pretty good! I do hope they don't take _too much_ inspiration from Fallen Order. I'm hoping for more roleplaying elements and less "3D platformer".
nice... but i am well trained in the art of hidden loading screens... best ever was probably jak and daxters first game... i once suffered from a failed load during a transition there and it was a shock.
The "open world" of it reminds me of God of war 2018 and ragnarok. You can travel to different realms, but they have open world in each realm at a very small scale and most of the areas are linear.
