Star Wars Outlaws hits in much the same way Respawn's Star Wars games do: unsurprising, competently made, and ultimately defined by a solid and comforting grasp of the source material, the likes of which is all too rare in the modern era of Star Wars releases.

@@beanoforyou It's not about money numb nuts....It's about getting people to stop pre ordering bullshit before we see LEGIT reviews. Would you buy a car before rest driving it? No. Pre ordering is just giving companies money and telling them it's OK to release half baked games and patch later. It's not about poor or rich....you seem to be the camp that's the problem
It's Ubisoft, it's an immediate 'On Sale' purchase.
Every “AAA” game is an “On Sale” game for me.
Did I pre-order a Battlefield game and get burned over a decade ago?
Yes. Yes, I did.
Waiting until it hits the Epic free game sale sounds like a good plan to me
I pre ordered death stranding and CP2077, hype ≠ good game, and anyway preordering is useless. Its not a competition. I can buy more games for cheaper too.
@@alexdasliebe5391 yeah, like it doesn't make the huge initial price less problematic... but just wait for a sale? I buy maybe 1-3 games a year at full price. Everything else is just a wait for sale... no matter how good it is. Sometimes I'm just busy with my backlog.
And honestly... Ubisoft is in rough waters. I don't want them to fail financially. They're one of the few western triplle-a publishers who keep making single player games instead of trying to turn every single game or property into a life service. (looking at warner brothers, EA, Activision). But life service games, even if just moderately successful, seems to generate more income than a successful single player game. Like FF7-2 Rebirth was an awesome game but somehow is... a financial flop? It gave players EXATLY what they wanted but still not enough people bought it.
I can kind of see why Ubisoft is trying to generate more income by just making hyper special super editions for 150+ bucks. There's a lot of high income people out there who will just gladly pay a "premium" price. Like I know it sucks, especially if some cool missions are hidden behind a second paywall. But I'd rather just have to wait a year for a sale to get the full experience for a moderate price (if the game is actually good) than ubisoft just failing as a publisher or going full on mobile or live service or whatever.
It's going to be 30-50% off in like 3 months time like all Ubisoft games.
Landing on and leaving planets without a separate fade-to-black load screen and 2 unskippable cutscenes? Bethesda absolutely shaking rn.
You're probably a bot, but regardless, what Outlaws is doing is literally no different. They just replaced fade to black loading with impenetrable clouds, which is "seamless" but fake all the same and takes longer than a non-hidden loading would.
@@TheRadioSquareThis looks way better though and sells the illusion. Very similar to what Elite Dangerous does.
@@benjaminh1034 Maybe to some. The moment you dive into the skies it's too obvious that everything else stops existing and you're just looking at a loading screen.
@@benjaminh1034 You can do a similar thing in Starfield in terms of watching a cutscene to travel to another star, but people still complained about it.

Remember kids, never pay 60 or 70 bucks when you can pay 10 or 20, or even get it on a subscription down the line.
Do you apply the same logic to all technology?
If you can afford it and the product is good, pay full price! Of course in this case the publisher is high key evil so that complicates things, but let's not get all superior about the groundbreaking advice of "wait until it's on sale to buy".
@@DanKaschel @DanKaschel yes. I apply this to every single other thing that can be bought for money.
If I can buy something cheaper with the same quality, why would I not do that? Frankly I do not care how fantastic the product is, I ain't paying full price if I don't have to.
For instance, I adore RD2 and have played it for hundreds of hours. Is it worth 60 bucks? Considering I named my cat after Arthur Morgan I would say it's worth much more. But did i pay 60 bucks? No, I wasn't in a hurry, I had a backlog of a million unplayed games, so I waited and got it on both Game pass and Ps plus. The reverse is also true, there are a ton of things that I think is not worth the price I'm paying for. But I have to pay it anyway. Like when I go out on a date or go traveling with my partner and we have to pay ridiculous prices for things like food.
@@amirmohamad2270 Look up NPV, short for Net Present Value, also referred to as the "time value of money". Goods now have more value than goods in the future due to opportunity cost.

Seems like a great game to get when it's half off
You'd think Stormtrooper armour made by the Imperial military had some sort of standardised quality but apparently a soft bonk to the head is all one needs to knock them out.
It is cheaply made as to be easily mass-produced
I mean in lore stormtrooper armor is especially trash
In fairness to their possibly outsourced infrastructure contractors, they did build a giant base capable of destroying planets that had a fatal hole in it. TWICE.
One soft bonk to the helmet is not enough to knock out a soldier. You guys know this. The animation needs to be more violent. It was too soft a love tap.
I appreciate you mentioning the Jedi games not doing anything "innovative" as something not necessarily bad. The most annoying argument I hear is that recent Star Wars games are "jacks of all trades, masters of none". B*tch please, we're getting Jedi stories in the form of adventure games and a STAR WARS OPEN WORLD GAME. How that's worse than a glorified tech demo that does something "innovative" is beyond me 😵

Over the past decade we’ve gone from not having enough Star Wars to now having too much Star Wars.
None of them are good though so it makes no difference.

I wouldn't expect "non-cinematic" gameplay like that from a Star Wars game.
There's no "punch and run - repeat" in other Star Wars media so I don't think a developer would make it a priority to somehow balance that over just having a stealth-takedown.

It looked like Far Cry, AC, WatchDogs and every other generic open world Ubisoft trope shoved into one game. It's impressive people fall for it, every, single, time.
I mean there is no reason not to wait until it is released especially if you are buying digital. But since its by Massive, i'm cautiously optimistic. I liked div 2 a lot and if this game's combat is like that with star wars skin and a decent story, i'm in.
I just wish we could get a bounty hunter/Mandalorian game that looked like this. I am forever frustrated by the untapped gameplay potential in the endless list of gadgets and weapons that could be used in a Star Wars action game. Jet packs, thermal detonators, wrist rockets, grapple lines, flamethrowers, shield projectors, repulsors. The scoundrel/smuggler archetype just doesn’t have quite the same gameplay potential imo.
Still, hopefully this does turn out decent and will be worth checking out. After recently finishing Jedi Survivor’s story I am eager to explore more of the galaxy in games.

4K balanced on a 4080 is giving you hope because it did 60fps ? Christ mate if your standards get any lower they're gonna leave a divot
Chillup talking shit about his appearance while having the sickest Elvis hairdue! Dont be so hard on yourself man.
Wow, I thought you were barechested there. Turns out its just a shirt... Disappointed, tbh.
Cautiously optimistic after reading the title, usually Ubi churns out garbage but I trust Mr. SkillUp’s opinion
The guy who had a similar impression of suicide squad prior to release?
@@Eltener123Link please? I'd like to see this.
@@Eltener123tbf he gave a “don’t recommend” when it came out. He also gave it a pretty fair review.
1:23 For a split second I thought he was wearing nothing but an unbuttoned shirt. Even though that wasn't the case I still nod my head in approval.
I don't know why people act like Wordle is an original game. Ubisoft already used that style of game with numbers in Watchdogs 2. The only thing Wordle did was add a social media aspect to it. Sorry, little things annoy me as you can probably tell😂
From the description, this sounds absolutely dreadful:
- Bunch of combat mechanics that don't work together
- Signature Ubisoft Stealth (tm)
- X-ray vision
- Open World by Ubisoft
- Ubisoft
Classic Ubislop
Last game I enjoyed from them was probably Valiant Hearts, and before that Assassin's Creed 2
Did you watch the video?? He’s saying it’s quite good
So basically you hate it because its ubisoft? Because th rest of it seems to work together just fine and it looks fine
Open world by Massive, they do it a bit better at least.
@bross7801 ehh... it came across more like it has good looking environments, but the gameplay is bare minimum fun and nothing exceptional. He says to keep expectations low to enjoy it lol
My concern is how much does Ubisofts standard cookie cutter approach infect the game? For example in Avatar and other Ubi titles they bave a habit of getting players do to side quests that are cut and pasted all over the map way too much. So rather than something being fun once, or twice they crush the players soul with the repeatition. I hope the side quests and main story have bespoke and fun missions and not a map filled with the cut and paste crap that Ubi normally serves. Who knows they may surprise us and break the mould. I won't hold my breath.
I am a Star wars fan but after the suckage of The Acolyte I am feeling burned out on Star Wars.
Idk imo that pattern only really appeared after FarCry 5 and AC Origins. I thinks it's rlly rlly over exaggerated how often it occurs w Ubisoft titles. Also l, this isn't dev by Ubisoft so if it's bland it has nothing to do with them
@itsreallydna as someone over 40 who has played Ubisoft games for years particularly from AC onwards in became gradually more noticeable and around Far cry 4 onwards and Avatar. They make stunning world's, but the activities are a grind for the most part these days. I hope this side steps alot of those typical Ubisms.
Being from Massive, were any of the enemies nearly invincible hoodie wearing chargers carrying baseball bats that took like 15 headshots to put down?
Great pre-view dude, thanks!
so just to clarify, im hearing that it's "ok". And Ubisoft wants me to be comfortable paying $70-140 to "own" something that's just ok?
side note: god i wish starfield had that same masked planetary loading screen for landing on planets
Only "ok"? "OK?!!" I'll have you know that this is Ubisoft's second QUADRUPLE A TITLE!! The first being the AMAZING Skull and Bones!!! (Sorry, jk. 😂)
If Ubisoft pulls this off... Starfield is DEAD. I am still blown-away that Bethesda, who did Skyrim and Fallout 4 made that steaming pile.
Fallout 4 is hot garbage
Yeah it looks like the ship customization is gonna be better. Also can't wait to become one of the stormtroopers or build my base. Definitely better than starfield.
Dude... I loved this video.
You're not reading a script.
You're just chatting to us.
Felt real 💯
Been subbed since your division 1 days.
Keep doing these.
I'm a huge star wars fan.
Wasn't going to buy but will now.
Thanks man.
Keep doing what you do
I thought your flannel shirt was button wayyy down at first glance lol. Anyway, thank you for curbing our expectations for this game. You answered a lot of questions/doubts I had.
I was down on this game when it was first revealed last summer, but slowly and surely I’m thinking I’m gonna play it. I’m a Star Wars nerd and I don’t need it to be a masterpiece, just don’t be terrible
Looks pretty cool tbh. I'm glad the first imptessions are positive, but I'll have to wait until it's on a deep sale before I play it. Too many other good games to play, and Ubisoft is REALLY low on the priority list.
Let's positive thinking!
I was disappointed when I realized it was a shirt but I was still able to complete. Just took a little longer.
I'd hope a 4080 could run this game smoothly at 60fps lmao that is NOT something we should be praising them for. It should be expected tbh.
I'll probably play this once it hits Gamepass eventually. Definitely not spending $70+ for Ubisoft
As always, it's Ubisoft. Wait for sale
Nah. Day one.
I'm not giving my money to people who hate me.
