Man this was so much easier without his friends(Steven)
Lot of questions about Minecraft mechanics, I’ll run em down best I can:
-the rain dance thing is just a bit, rain in Minecraft is entirely RNG. Also those dances are either an animation or a mod cause the base game can’t do that.
-pigs don’t drop gold themselves, but zombie piglins do, and pigs can be turned into these monsters from a lightning strike. There’s really not a reason certain mobs drop certain metals, it really is just that they do, because, and it works for challenges like this which is probably why they keep doing it for newer mobs.
-the passive mob cap thing is just community knowledge on how Minecraft handles spawning of mobs. Too many mobs means the game starts to lag so each category of mobs has a cap, and this information can be found by doing some surface level data mining on the functions, Martin simply searched it on the game wiki where that information has been laid out by others.
-mobs in boats MAY attack you depending on what type of mob and its mechanics. For example a zombie will beat you up in the boat since you’re in hit range, but a witch will throw potions that always miss because they can’t hit your hitbox due to the proximity being too close for the collision detection to work right. The enderman he trapped was passive because they only become hostile if you look them in the eye.
-also I don’t think you know this but in other dimensions besides the overworld, there’s a troll feature by the devs where the bed explodes when you try to sleep in it, so that’s why they freaked out over that bed at the end.

@@ChicagoReactsthe explosive beds do a lot more damage than a standard creeper/TNT explosion. This makes beds ideal for speed running as you can place blocks such that you can attempt to sleep while taking minimal damage, doing huge damage to the ender dragon when it goes down to the middle platform.
@@kerbe3 Isn't it also a common method for ancient debris mining in the Nether or has that changed at all?

@@HazerithiousYes, it's the most efficient method of finding qncient debris, because it's more powerful than tnt and cheaper, but chainlinking tnt explosions is probably faster.
Anyone doing literally anything ever: The lack of steven helps.
The "start chest" is a chest that contains a few items to help you start, such as lava and water to make infinite cobblestone (hence the cobblestone generator)
So back a few updates Minecraft fundamentally changed how their spawning mechanics for any hostile mobs worked. A hostile mob can spawn on any block that has a light level of 0. However even if that block is at the very edge of a torches light it will become incapable of spawning a mob. When it turns night time if there is no light source around blocks will naturally have a light level of 0 until dawn. Since Martin did this challenge without the starter chest, he lacks the lava and water buckets to make a cobblestone generator, which would be the only way he could make torches, since normally you need coal and a stick, but you can substitute coal for charcoal, and charcoal is made by cooking logs in a furnace. Thus at the beginning he has no way to prevent mobs from spawning on literally every single block of his base. Add in the fact that creepers are completely silent when approaching you and the only warning you get is when it is too late if you don't have Enchanted gear.
Yikes. That really is hard mode.
@ChicagoReacts It is. If you play on hardcore, you ALWAYS have to be looking everywhere. If you don't pay attention or at least block a path to you, you get done got lol.

5:34 to an extent, yeah, but in this scenario it probably walked across the bridge to him while he had his back turned. minecraft usually doesn't let mobs spawn in directly in front of you or around you

I tried doing this challenge before as well, he could've saved dozens of hours by building the fox farm first, Wandering traders can sell buckets of fish "in water" so, no need to bungle around with rain and cauldrons.

Can't help on cool stuff to watch. It's all been multi hour stuff. recently Flaw Peacock's videos about the Faith series of games is cool but it's 4 hours long.
