Can you imagine the never spilt the difference family conversations in the Voss family 😂
Just grab a napkin when the difference is spilt on the table! ;)
How am I supposed to do that?
Have you given up on passing the salt
😂😂😂😂💯💯💯💯💯
@@mikeasquith5431passing the salt?
This guy is brilliant 👍🏻 thank you
*Although I prefer "Is this a bad time to talk" more now, for almost two decades I had formed my own habit of saying, "Should I call back at a better time?"*
*Dare I say I rarely heard, "yes, call back later", but when I did, an appointment was set. Thus, I believe I may have stumbled across the same psychology with similar success. Ultimately I prefer his line now.*
undeniably vital information especially about asking the person think about what they would feel if they where you, remind them to me decent , human
Chris Voss is a genius. I’m in the process of getting my insurance and real estate licenses and his work has helped me learn so much about the human mind.
Chris looks like he has a great collection of one of my favorite artists, Hugh Macleod.
I’ve got Asperger’s…even plain, direct language is difficult for me. Playing these games is mind boggling.
Learned this today used it today got multiple responses. Thanks Mr. Voss

Thank you
*"Is this a bad time to talk?"*
*Only ask questions calibrated to solicit a "no" agreement, especially in the afternoon or when the person maybe tired.*
*"Is it a ridiculous idea if...?"*
*"Are you against...?"*
*"How am I supposed to do that?"*
*"Have you given up on....?"*
i also would support the idea that it's important to ask 'how are you' from a place of meaning and context...and that asking this question is not lame and one should go into the subject at hand without barely saying hello..... perhaps the hostage negotiation skills are urgent and deciding at the moment, but in my world i really enjoy askin/hearing about what they are doing and starting a conversation ..........it's human social /
I'd love to see two people who have read the book and practice the concept of negotiating with each other.
I love all the Gapingvoid pictures in the back.
My "good times to talk" are so rare sometimes I've responded "It's never a good time to talk". Another is when asked if I am busy. The answer is "I'm always busy". 😅
I'm not lying. Read the book. You'll be ready when these things are thrown at you.
You sound like a Karen
I love your bottled water, Chris Voss.
😂😂😂😂
Love the content, but what I love more is he sounds like an Al Pacino character. Great content.
Everytime!!!
Been watching him for years, never noticed that before but now I can't not notice it lol
What the top 10 Lines? I have listened and number #2 and #3 are never mentioned. I would really appreciate a list at end of video. Or mention in commrnts
#2 is ask "Is this a ridiculous idea?" #3 "Are you against... XYZ?"
There's so much ads on the video- I just gave up. Thanks for putting it together- but it was so hard to extract value from the guest when the video keep getting interrupted every 5 minutes.
-Have you given up on x? To restart.
-Is this a bad time to talk? Tunes them in.
-Does it sound ridiculous if we did x?
-Are you opposed to/against x? Getting NO, but it’s a yes.
-How am I supposed to do that? Response to first hearing the pricing, causes many to drop price by themselves.
Thanks G.
Thank you 😊
I'm not sure if i spent more time watching the video or watching ads.
agreed!,,,youtube is out of control with commercials , they are worse the actual TV,,,
Are you against a premium CZcams subscription? Is it a ridiculous idea?
@dbarb5691 yes.
@@dbarb5691haha
My question is, Did the author agree because he knows Chris Voss name and his status or truly because of the offer and how it was phrased? Love his teachings, don’t get me wrong. He is also well known now which will have more influence on decisions.
32:30 What is the "half elf framework?"
I hate being around people that are always trying to work on me.
Always trying to work on you?
@@HalConick You know, "would you like to invest or buy" whatever.
@@HalConick nice dude. 😂
@@HalConick that was smooth bro, I caught that
Tried that yesterday. I mean it. That thing works! The answer was: “of course we haven’t!”
I swear.
I suspect there’s a difference of outcome between these being delivered verbally vs written.
I had a guy ask do you want more business and I told him no and he stuttered and didn’t know what to do. I really didn’t want any business lol
NOBODY CARES, LOL.
"Generous offer, Im afraid it just doesn't work for me"
"It just doesn't work for you?"
"....blah blah blah"
"It sounds like blah blah blah, the market price is X and i know you're asking for 2X, How am I Supposed To Do That?"
If they say yes to the bad time to talk question, Wait a few seconds to see if they offer a time to talk and if they don’t just say OK goodbye in a neutral tone of voice. Call back in six weeks and ask the same question again. Respect do you want me to do that because you will be so busy with those people who said no I can talk now.
if someone emails me "Is it a ridiculous idea...are you against..." It's going state to spam.
Easter egg: E. L. F in the background
Never watched a video that had so many ads
Imagine how jilted you’d feel just trying to decide where to go to lunch with this guy. You would end up, picking him up in your own car, driving him there, paying for the lunch, sending him back home in a limo.
Only if his intent was to be a jerk. It's not the skills on question, only the intent of the person.
31:20 Interesting elucidation on how to react to someone who has no motivation to help you.
I am a contractor in a very busy market. When someone even suggest I cut my quote using any words they can string together. I calmly say good luck and end the conversation. Here is the way I look at it. You are lucky to get me to do the work at any price. You try to negotiate with me and I see it as wasting my time.
Lucky? Your clients are lucky?
His time his rate
You sound DELIGHTFUL
What's a half?? I think that's what Voss called them.
HALF - Hard, Annoying, Lame, Frustrating.
People that see through this tripe
Doesn't like his own stuff being used on him and cuts off anyone who tries to do so, because he immediately recognizes he is being manipulated 😂😂😂
Has some good stuff (if used sincerely), albeit fairly well known and generic. But I always have to laugh at communications experts that come across as arrogant A/holes who think the world of themselves. Particularly ones who are apparently so in demand and busy that they have time to peddle their kernels of wisdom endlessly online as an attempt to get sign ups into their courses.
Chris, come help me negotiate purchasing of a new vehicle! I hate car sales people
Manipulating or scripted sounding people are always a huge red flag.

So, if you are getting surgery, do you want your surgeon to just wing it or follow the proven script?
You play the game.
um these aren’t negotiation lines they are sales pitch entry line 🙄
This is not magic. This is a guy who is extremely petty about every transaction, and keeps score on all of it. Not a friend indeed. Only a friend in need. Yuck.
that's why your here too
for your own good
stop playing good cop here
@@mainman3941 naw, I’d sense the parasite the minute I started hanging out with him. True friends have a natural connection.
Not that I think he would care, but I have lost alot of respect for Voss. I thought he was better guy than he portrays himself in this video. In this video he sounds like a pompous ass.
IS it just me, or is this obnoxious nonsense? Would hate to sit next to this guy on a plane.
This stuff is car dealer 101, we’d wipe the floor with you, all of these one liners only work on a person that’s interested in your product or service.
Your product is confidence in a bottle, like all bottles, they empty. No idea why CZcams brought me here.
How about is this a good time to talk? I am no expert negotiator by all means - but isn’t using the word « bad » gives a subconscious command that it’s…bad ?
I would imagine if you ask if it’s a “bad” time to talk and say “no” then really a good time.
I had the same thoughts. So i came up with, "Maybe this is not a good time to talk?"

Why would I believe someone who’s been a government employee on the topic of negotiating!? It’s the most laughable thing Iv ever heard of! They aren’t known to negotiate for anything! Thanks I’ll find someone who spent their career in the free market where you don’t get one red cent unless you reach a mutually beneficial agreement with your trading partner.
Your arrogance is astounding. This guy is incredible.
He is so slimy, look at his life, current wife. Very unmoral man.
What would make you think that? Have you had a bad experience with someone? Just curious.
@@dbarb5691 , looks like that ask personaly Criss Voss. Because I look at his life outside of interviews, Instagram of his wife, her personality, for who she works....
Cash or check, Chris. That's how you're supposed to do that.
Exactly what I thought.
