    Do you feel there is an advantage to using a timing belt tension gauge? Or is the tension spring accurate enough?

      I dont use the tension gauge and haven't had problems

    On my old toyota's. I put a 18" breaker bar with appropriate socket on the crankshaft bolt and hit the starter motor for a couple of seconds. Thereby unloosening bolt first thing. Then the rest is easy.

    Why do you want to use screw driver to find top dead center? why not just use timing mark on crank gear?

    I’m late here but you do not need to take the valve cover off. Or the thermostat. Or anything other than the pump itself, 3 plastic timing covers, and the plastic intake piece. :) good day

    Lock the crankshaft for bolt removal or torquing down with a crank bolt tool. Flying Miata has one. Mike at Miatamecca has one. Foolproof.

      I just used the hand brake to keep the crank shaft still when I changed my timing belt and water pump and all that a couple years ago in my 1995 Miata. I did use the little Flying Miata cam shaft gear tool to keep those still, though.

    Tip: when u jack these kind of cars, lower the soft top next time.

      What benefit does that provide?

      @rical800 Před 5 lety

      @@AutoAutopsy helps with the "bending" of soft top rods . Imagine jacking up a car with soft top. What kind of pressure / stretching / bending goes on the soft top rods inside the car.
      And all soft top connecting points in general

    Those are FACTORY OEM FANS that you cut the wires to. Now you have to replace them because the wire was cut short.
