I loved when he said this because it's my motto too. I live off $1.99 a pound pork tenderloin or 1/2 loin which I buy in a chunk when it's on sale and cut up myself. I absolutely love it. Last thing I want is to try some $10 a pound cut that I like even more and realize what I'm missing. Ignorance is bliss.

I learned 3 things from this video:
1. You can microwave a raw, unwashed potato for 8 and a half minutes.
2. There are steaks that cost only $2.
3. Dr. Pepper now uses real sugar.
I think that's a joke tho, cheapest steak where I live costs EUR10+ in butcheries, or America sells real crap justl ike their $1 burger menus which we all know ain't meat.
@@KiffJRockka you can get some $2 steaks from managers specials sometimes, they are basically the stuff they wont be able to sell the next day so they want it gone. It is not usually the best cut of meat, but it is good with a little improvisation.
Also those are flat steaks, they are super cheap and not really great unless you want it for something like cut up strips.

in austria and german you have something called " minute-schnitzel" or "minute-steak" basically thinner cuts of pork or beef. 4 slices cost around 7 to 9 euros where i work.

i watched this awhile ago, but i came back to say that you helped inspire me to eat better
i often struggle to eat well because the idea of cooking itself, the thought of dishes, of any work feels so exhausting , so i just eat package ramen, almost every day for probably about 5 years
if i was more well off i would probably subsist off of frozen ready meals tbh
maybe its not the healthiest food in the world, but a meal like this is affordable and filling
since this video i bought some meal prep containers and on a good day just filled them up with premade portions of this so i dont have to cook when i dont have the energy
it was a small, but substantial change that made my meals and life alot better so thank u for that and thanks for the regular uploads, they genuinely make my mornings a bit brighter
Dunno why this worked for me but I bought a cast iron and became obsessive about cooking whatever I could think of in it. That and google recipes and my food comes out better than most restaurants minus the occasional f up.

@@Killerbee_McTitties I hate cooking and often actively avoid it, but I recently started making a dish that has quickly become one of my favorites. I just buy a pound of ground beef (80/20 fat ratio), put it in a frying pan, fry it up, pour in a bunch of diced up veggies before the meat is completely done and fry all that up, add in a bunch of spices... makes enough for two or three meals, and it's delicious. I don't know if it's technically considered stir-fry, but close enough (I wish I had a wok!). I'm trying to think of decent side dishes that would match with this.
Anyway... I really don't like cooking and haven't done much of it over the years. It's a pain in the ass prepping, doing dishes, etc. But usually I feel like it's so worth it once I've done it... there is nothing like a good home-cooked meal that YOU cooked yourself. Better than anything I can find in my freezer.

My group years ago would get together to play "steak game." The goal of the game was to produce the best tasting steak while spending the least amount of money. Cinnamon steaks, chili steaks, ect, you name it. The hardest part of the game was figuring out how to make a rubbery slice of meat chewable.

I actually saw him shopping this weekend, didn't want to bother the guy though. He's 100% telling the truth on all of this, my meat market partners are the best in the region and turn out some great cuts of meat. The select stuff is just as good as the prime stuff most of the time.

I was always told to never oil a pan when you cook a steak. But I guess that also might depend on what kind of pan you're using.
You don't have to, but you'll need a very well seasoned cast iron or carbon steel pan. In any case, adding oil to the pan allows for better heat transfer to the meat, therefore a better sear. Everything this guy did was objectively wrong, but he doesn't give a damn and I appreciate that

@@EfficientTrout with dairy products, it's even more safe arguably. Because they give quite a cushion between the best by date and the date it actually expires. Your milk is good for another week or so after the best by date usually.
