Panthers fan. Appreciate all of your takes. I just think it’d be crazy to bring him back. Regular season play you could say he could improve but during the playoffs we consistently watched him shrink and allow the space to be taken away from him.
The team to take him should be a team that plays wide open. Like Jersey. But he’s not worth the money anywhere now.

Have you seen him play in Calgary? He literally looks like a player who'd struggle to crack an AHL lineup. And it's not like he has brief flashes. No, he is completely useless every second he's on the ice.
It's simple. The trade broke him. He can't get over the fact that his life is now 180° from how he thought it would ever be, and he doesn't have the mental fortitude to turn things around
Arizona would be a good spot for Hubby.

Only a GM on a kamikaze mission would take a leap of faith with 10, he's the damaged product on shelves that no patron wants to purchase. We would have to package him up with another player on the team who's in demand at a lower return. If that is even possible, there's always hope.
From a panthers fan I feel bad for the guy. Imagine you get traded to Calgary and your former team goes to the cup because of the new guy they traded you for. I’m sure it’s gotta be kind of heart breaking. If anything I’d love to see him somehow come back to Florida and retire with the panthers.

As a Panthers fan, this was my favourite player. If them bring him back to Florida, you will see, that he will be another person like here in Flames..
The problem is the other stuff. If he was a 60-70pt guy but played 2-way hockey like Toews and Crosby some years then I wouldn’t have a problem. He’s not playing any defence, he’s losing every puck battle, he can’t make any pass, and he just doesn’t look engaged enough.
Points don’t matter too me if you’re doing everything else right. Points come if you’re doing the little things. He’s not doing that stuff

Are people forgetting that Huberdeau is an excellent player IF he's surrounded by other excellent players? Out of his 115 points, he only scored 30 goals, under this Flames team, Huberdeau isn't putting up any numbers if they aren't.
Sorry guys but anyone who watched Huberdeau play in Florida on a nightly basis is not surprised at all, he has not regressed, only the level of his line mates have. Everything you guys complain about we all saw, just that he had elite talent around him and Hubderdeau was in a great mood because he could go to the beach win or lose.
Panthers fan here. You are absolutely correct. He doesn't have a Barkov with him up there and it's evident he misses him. My husband and I would see his lackadaisical play, giving up instead of plowing through, giving up the puck way too often. Maybe he'd do a little better in Montreal, although I doubt they would give him all that money.

I feel bad for the guy. If I was in his shoes I’d take a year on this contract, make 10 million and be set for life to pursue any business ventures you want and just leave the NHL. What a ridiculous amount of pressure and honestly embarrassment if he can’t find his game by the end of this season.

you guys are good together. fun to listen too, im a 40 year caps fan but am so interested on how calgary moves forward. found this channel when reserching mathew phillips. caps are pushing mantha this week even though phillips has outplayed him. hopefully caps coaches move on with mantha he had a goal and assist vs jersey and disappeard in last nights game that is the typical mantha,i wish him well but big contracts affect people in different ways., phillips is everywhere on the ice. caps had shootout vs you and last night why is ovi doing a shootout ,he is terrible at it over the years, i thought they would use phillips, i guess coaches have to use politics to keep stars happy which in the long run is the best play. i guess i answerd my own question.lol great show.
Only thing that saves the flames is a buyout window at next cba other than that he gets you to cap floor in a rebuild. Tre screwed this team over. Hopefully he performs the same in toronto

Last year you could have if you ate half almost everyone outside of Calgary like frank and others thought he would return to 80+ pts and at five million that’s a good deal, now he’s 3 million dollar player at best for 8 years nobody is taking him now
What do you mean “what happened to him”? This is his normal level of play. He had 1 good season. Look at his career stats.
I feel bad for this turn of fortunes for Calgary. Got caught with the hot potato. Buy him out, thats it! The guy who made the trade is now my favorite team's GM. gulp.
Calgary fans are a hardy bunch. The chance of this team ever winning big is slim to none. The organization does not have what it takes. This is not a player problem as we have seen many leave this team only to do very well on other teams.
