I'm glad John read some comments supporting the weekly format. I was literally rushing to the comments to say that the weekly show absolutely rocks and there is nothing wrong with it on our end. It's what I look forward to on Saturday night. I haven't found anything as great as the Spawncast weekly show. I've found a few other good ones but nothing up to this.
I agree with OJ here, 100 percent. I’m a huge nerd as well, and I know that when he talks smack about gamers and the stereotypes that come with being one, it’s coming from a guy that’s wants to have fun seeing another friend’s reaction on the stream. I can tell by reading some of these YT comments against him that some of us can’t take a joke. I have old friends from my time in the Army that always talk smack about one another, but in the end we acknowledge that we do it for shits and giggles, and don’t take any of those harsh comments personally between friends.
Some people are just soft (or maybe too critical) and don’t know to NOT take those kinds of jokes too seriously or personally. 🤷🏽♂️

It's just a difference in how people react with others in their personal lives and how that formulates their understanding of others. Me and my friends talk shit to each other all the time but always immediately laugh about it. At the end of the day, we know it's all jokes. No one ever gets mad because it's all fun and games. Some people aren't capable of processing sarcasm and dry humor because they don't interact with that type of personality daily, which obviously leads to them not understanding this type of behavior.

Just paused the play back around the 5 minute mark because I want to personally address what John is saying about the podcast going forward. I for one, love that the podcast is weekly. I may not be able to watch it live, but I always do my best to catch it on CZcams after the day it's uploaded. With that being said, here are a few of my thoughts:
1. For starters, I can definitely tell some people are burnt out of being on/the podcast itself. Sometimes I feel like the same questions are asked weekly. On top of that, sometimes the topics that are discussed are sort of the same, especially the Switch 2/Pro rumor hype train. Hearing that over and over again is getting on some people's nerves I reckon.
2. Now I know people have varying opinions on the people who participate on the panel from week to week, but at the end of the day, I think it's time to start trying to get a rotation of guest/regulars on the show. I do agree with John though, 9pm on a Saturday is going to be tough for some people, especially if they have a family. While I understand this is their job, people need time to themselves/spending time with their families. This ties into the podcast burnout, but it was really clear that some members of the cast just didn't want to be/weren't interested in the topics being discussed. It would probably help to try to bring specific people if a particular console/company is going to be talked about more than another one. It's odd when someone is on the cast and says maybe 2 sentences the whole time (except for Evan because we all know he is the moderator and sometimes chimes in when asked a particular question).
3. Essentially, maybe the podcast could revert to a section where maybe something is discussed that everyone as a whole can agree to speak on? I feel like that would be more engaging for everyone/everyone would get a chance to speak their opinion rather than two people talking for 55% of the show while the rest sit there in silence or play games on their Switch.
Just my two cents. I've always enjoyed the podcasts but I do think it's needs to be tweaked a little bit from the format that it's been going on for the past 40 or so episodes. It's gotten a bit stale, but I'm still hanging around because I just enjoy listening to it while I do things at work or around the house. Cheers.
The reason the podcast is stale is because Jon refuses to talk about any of the real controversies going on in gaming right now. I mean, just watch the Side Scrollers podcast. They do 2 hours per day, 5 days a week, and it never gets boring or stale. The host talks about every subject, even if his opinion on it doesn't side with what some people want him to say. He also gets guests from within the industry to talk about the problems in the game industry and why they happen. And yes, the Side Scrollers podcast is during the day rather than at night, but that's something Jon would have to figure out if he wants quality guests on his podcast. The podcast has to be scheduled to when people would be available. Also, people who subscribe to Spawn Wave love when Jon does videos in which he opens up consoles or other hardware, so why does he never have guests on the podcast who have the skills to do that with him. Wouldn't it be great if Jon could get someone from the OG Xbox team on the podcast to talk about the ins and outs of the OG Xbox hardware while opening up the console? That's not even controversial, and it'd be interesting.
The podcast doesn’t need to be weekly. The podcast hadn’t gotten soft over the past 6 months.

I don't comment much, but I enjoy this podcast every Monday on my commute to work. It's like hearing a group of friends attempt to talk about games and it occasionally derails into something deranged lol.
I just don’t understand what is so bad about leaving something uncensored don’t buy the game or play it if you don’t like it let the creators have that choice .
Meanwhile last of us 2 was not censored 🤷 you can’t have it both ways go all out and enforce the policy for everyone or let the ratings be and leave things in

The problem with Stellar Blade and censorship is that people WERE promised no censorship and then they WERE censored in the day one update and that is the same as the Fallout 76 canvas bag issue where Bethesda was misleading people and giving out a cheap and nasty nylon bag.
It’s the fact that an ADULT/MATURE rated game was still censored (including blood and gore) and this is treating the adults in the western world like children when it comes to Asian games but then Sony allows the Abby backpacking scene in The Last Of Us 2 which no one wanted to see…
At the moment there does appear to be a hatred for any female character that appeals to “the male gaze” but you can knock boots with a bear in Baldurs Gate 3 and watch Kratos’s huge muscular body in God of War and no one minds at all? No one complains about the Trans gaze or the female gaze or the gay gaze but the idea of heterosexual men enjoying the look of an idol like female avatar is somehow equated to prawn addiction or something?😅

What's really messed up about the Stellar Blade censorship situation is that Baldur's Gate 3, a game that shows characters butt booty naked, as well as having sexual encounters can go uncensored, but God forbid Shift Up be allowed to show a bit more boob and ass that, let's be honest, is pretty damn tame compared to their other game, Nikke. This isn't just about showing more skin though, it's about being truthful with your audience. They explicitly said only a few days before its launch that it would be fully uncensored, but as it turned out, that wasn't true. Whether it was Shift Up and Sony's decision doesn't really matter, they promised this and they broke it. That trust will need to be earned back.

To enjoy life, not take things so seriously and something to look forward to on a Saturday night. Was so great to see Jordan on again and when the old cast is able to come back. I hope you can keep this going as long as you can, it means so much to me emotionally. I know it can be hard for you too with babies/kids and family, but you mean so much to everybody wide on the gaming platform. I can see the switch 2 using magnets to pull a magnetic hook or lock either in the system or controller to lock them together, then pull the magnet back and the hook or lock goes slack and releases.
I guess that sounds reasonable... I just hope they have a good plan for using magnets, right now I'm not so sure I like the idea

I play Mario Kart with single joycons with some friends every weekend, we also played through mario 3D world and mario wonder like this. It's an amazing feature for portability and local multiplayer. I sincerely hope that the general concept is applied to the next system as well, I don't want to carry 3 or 4 full sized controllers with me in addition to the console...

I am a visually impaired gamer that has been Losing more and more of my vision as I get older. So it's becoming harder and harder to play video games. But I still try. And then there's segments of those games where it's just impossible so when I heard about this new A. I Tech I was sort of happy knowing that 1 day. The AI could just beat these impossible sections for me.

Weird how being anti-censorship somehow makes you a virgin. It's a rated M game, this isn't E10 or T, it's M. Other games go much further in explicit content and keep that M rating. Sony caved to journalists, they don't care about gamers.
I even say this as a Sony equities investor and someone who gets paid by them: It is not so the fact people want them, it’s rather about how people would throw up a fuss and tantrum and “protest” like crazy.
If people are losing sleep over censorship, particularly when it comes to something like gore or nudity, then people ought to reevaluate their life and purposes.
I personally abhor censorship, but I don’t lose sleep over it. If something is censored, I will either (a) not buy the game; or (b) just buy it (if possible) on another platform that won’t be censoring content.
Really not a big deal in the grand scheme of things.

Using a single joycon is absolutely the only option on a bus/train/plane ride with your friend/kid/significant other. It’s a feature for portability. Of course at home, multiple pro controllers are better.

I think the once a month format could potentially work. There are the other shows like Direct Xbox and Game & Talk to fill in the gaps.
The show has been running for about 5-6 years at this point, I’ve been watching all this time. I wouldn’t mind seeing a shake up a little bit. But I know that im likely in the minority, most of the viewers seem to enjoy the weekly show.

Indie studios are *struggling* to port their games to the switch because it’s so dated. The switch ports come out so much later and even then the performance is bad more often than not.
