I don't really think the opinion of nothing going on in the gaming world currently needs to be acknowledged. I don't get those who only focus on the newest first party games. There's plenty of third party and indie titles to play. That's what I've been doing. I also play online multiplayer games. Those people need to diversify what they play.
Plus, endless backlogs and retro games. The only problem I see is too much to keep up with.
I'm also quite baffled by that. Is "Gaming is stale." the new narrative? On one hand I've seen people say too much is coming out, but now it's stale? Between big titles, smaller budget ones, indies, mobile games and everything else out there there should be enough for anyone to find something to play. But I also don't think that games constantly need to revolutionise, because that's quite frankly a toxic attitude, perhaps the issue is just in not being able to accept a good game as a good game.
I guess it really depends on what people play. Like you said, if people only play first party AAA titles then I guess gaming is in a rut. For me personally as an RPG fan there have been more games to play than I have had time for, like literally a big new release once a month for many months in a row at this point.

One thing no one ever brings up with drop in game sales is the economy.. gaming is a luxury and not a necessity so when moneys short and you have to start cutting expenses buying $70 games is one of the first things to cut back on and more people will either wait for sales or stick with free to play games
Companies greedy- you wouldn't do the same for a blockbuster movie you wanted to see....
But the world has changed how it consumes media- it's about to change again with pushback of sub models (and piracy becoming king once more)

Platinum trophy support on PC is huge. My process thus far has been to platinum a game on PS5 first, and then future play throughs are on PC. If I can get trophies on my account while playing on PC though? I might as well go that route from the beginning

I like achievements because it racks up my gamer score (a high gamer score can show that someone is a veteran gamer and not just a fortnite gamer) and also because it’s proof that you have done cool things in the game like beating a game on the hardest difficulty etc. I’m surprised Nintendo still has no achievement system since Xbox invented the achievement system back in 2005. I hope switch 2 has achievements.

An Iphone Emulator is (or can also be called IOS/Ipad emulator) is asoftware that can run IOS compatible apps on systems that is not IOS such as windows linux or android etc.

The CGI over use, nostalgia/IP repetition, handful of fair ideas. The budgets are ridiculous. Are audiences that fussed maybe but in some.cases do they need to be that large scale? Probably not.
Are practical effects, 2D animation and more bad no they aren't, weren't, still aren't. Unless they did them well and many did, used to or still do even if some.changes of tech.
I mean Cuphead with old style animation proving a point even if a gaming audience and a particular type of game, but still showing that people are interested in that type of animation not always CGI.
Eh writing in some works. Even game tv series/movies I'm like please don't tell me I'll hate the writing and how they use the world's and in cases they do even if I wasn't into that video game IP (but may in a TV form same as I have live action anime to see how bad they are or skip them) it still disappoints. It varies but some good some.bad.

Players don't seem to get that and limit what they think then the company going well of course this is a valid solution to try and see if PC are interested, have a PSN account, data..... I may not be interested in Sony's current games but that doesn't mean I don't think their business practices haven't been suitable in some.areaw or follow what they do and think huh those parts I don't like but those parts are pretty cool especially on PC side they have impressed me (I don't do PC gaming) while their peripherals and games haven't been my thing even though I like peripherals the execution wasn't for me.
It's not about that. It's about the fear of a crap future where they will have to play on Windows.
And if you dislike Microsoft or just don't care for PC in general, that is obviously a very real fear. Especially if looking at where Xbox is seemingly going. Why wouldn't Sony follow? Taking huge financial risks with a restart of the brand every sixth year if of course preferably avoided.
Older games are good but I feel like there is alot nostalgia bias talk when talking about old games. People acting like we don’t get great new games all the time. Sure we have mediocre games too but that’s been apart of the industry for the longest. Also MVG acting like Nintendo don’t make mediocre or just alright games as well is ridiculous. (Talking about the video he put out that John mentioned)
The nostalgia bias also can come from the fact that when you look back you don't remember all the bad/mediocre games that also game out. You mainly remember the good/great games that came out. Also you don't remember as well the times where nearly nothing came out/nothing big was happening. This is in contrast to new games where we remember more of the bad experiences and so on. But there is probably more good/great games that comes out every year now than in the past(mainly because there just is a lot more games that comes out every year).
Like sure there are things that are different between new and old games, but they are also made in different circumstances, and like everything in media, they are as much a product of their time in which they was made in.

... or playing games when you have the chance to, when its most convenient. I am always carrying my phone around, cant say the same of an dedicated emulator. Pocket space is limited.
Not really… there is a reason why I still rock the Vita, Steam Deck and Switch as they each have their dedicated use case.
Switch mainly for first party titles, the Vita is for playing PSP and Vita games and Steam Deck for the PC gaming experience on the go alongside other emulators like PS2, PS3, Dreamcast, N64 etc.
The touch controls of the Delta app is perfect for long turn based RPG’s and games like Mario Kart.
I deleted Mario Kart Tour and now playing Mario Kart DS if I have 10-15 minutes to spare. I won’t always have the Steam Deck or Vita on me, so the convenience of having something like Delta installed on literal something pocket sized like a phone is always nice to have on hand.

The DMC remake achievements were pretty insane, especially in the Virgil's Downfall DLC, and it actually felt like you had to put some effort in to get them, but in most games outside of Monster Hunter, or some Rogue Likes, the achievements are pretty forgettable.
I haven’t watched this show consistently since covid. Watched it weekly through 2017 to 2020.
What happened? The show seems soulless and awkward now, like the people left are just there to do it for a paycheck and not because they want to be there. Honestly, it seems like they’d rather be anywhere else.

Makes sense John is going to cut it back. Why would anyone watch this? The chemistry between the co-hosts are nonexistent, and no one seems to want to be there. If you want noise to go to sleep to, or while you work, I could see why you’d listen/watch to it other than that, I’ll watch podcasts where people show up and they actually like being there.

Gaming is absolutely in a rut. Everything with overly complicated controls and menuing, consoles with what peopke perceive as good performance and graphics have rediculous heat dicipation and power requirements, too many new physical games have onlije requirements of some sort, and games are just not as fun.
Getting much more enjoyment nuying and playing Neo Geo games ive never played before, than most the new stuff.

Cat in the City was the most eh another untitled goose interactive borefest. I get the appeal but to me it's just so fits a tv show concept lacking in depth as a video game and interactive like VR needs depth oe balance not overcompensating controls or else why play it. Thats why I don't like it. Also if the level design and moveset suck why which probably could why should they.

Any more interesting of presentation, moveset, who cares about the animals/characters if they suck to play as, who cares about cosmetics, five us fun movesets and level design with good fun goals and you can STILL HAVE FUN imagine that.
We get eh nostalgic popular inspired garbage platformers and garbage surface level casual appealing trash like that.
Why else would I go retro why because of NICHE 3D platformers getting their ideas ignored or NEW GOOD IDEAS not POPULAR ones with the same tired mechanics Indies use and refine or have 1 new mechanic but it's not used well with the level design so why should I care.
It's like buying PS3/360/Wii shooters why because I am and the mechanics are the only good part eh story/everything workd, characters whatever. So they make the same fair comparison don't they. XD

2017-2021 I bought a Vita, Wii U, 3Ds and Switch. Irs not I can't buy a PS5/Series. I have reach foe them from people around me. I still don't want one. Fhe enhancements sure but I am happy with 1080p, rhe gameplay redined PS3/360 and 8th gen still.... Still waiting on gimmicky or fun ideas in games yet.... Some do for sure but many are still the dame.
Engines need tweaking sure but I mean..... It's for graphics so why would I be excited.
I keep my eye out sure, some appeal, but I haven't seen game design exciting me yet in more than maybe 5.
Most are formulaic, average ideas or nothing special.
Wake me up when something special happens.
Retro and past ttends are more worth my time.
Irs not like I don't try though I keep up qith ghr news. I have bought 2022-2024 games yes. Barely any on 2024 then 1 Another Code Recollection. So far. 2023 I bought 2022 and 2203's game fhe same year.
I don't hate new trends I do think some are fair but many are too simple or too casual or too theme/story based and the gameplay suffers and would bore me to death.
Especially this gen. I am on last gen and fhe few cross overs Sony Square titles or otherwise have been a joke.
Their big stuff isn't my thing FF games are fine not for me.
I have experienced parts of Febirth minigames to assist fhe person playing I know how unpolished they are don't lie to me, seen parts of fhe story. It's a good game but yeah odd parts in there.
So don't narrative your childhood or over praise it because I know your lying or ignoring ghe way the minigames play I am fhe one tbat does flight, puzzles or other minigame stuff. So the boxing/chocobo flight challenges sucked.
Valkyrie Elysium was the only one I didn't get annoyed with. Me setting it to hard difficulty is on me I did in fhe demo and transferred my save XD But I enjoyed it.
Diofield was story first, gameplay second, why because chapter 4+ is repetitive for half THE GAME. WASTE of TIME. i platinumed it though, always planned to. Didn't make it any more disappointing.
I didn't plan on Foamstars but man like Diofield how lazy of gameplay ideas and modea lacking to see from afar can square published titles get yet their own titles have more effort put in their other studios sucked at gameplay execution its hilarious.
Square/Enx do a good job. Rven id thr FF7 rebeoth (I didn't buy it) side ideas were unpolished PS1 game minigames in games made in 10 months or Busby 3D camera are better then ghr boxing or Chocobo lack of a camera challenges. Cool ideas. Lacking polish in controls they annoyed me. Why because if someone struggles with flight or odd minigames I end up playing them. Because I deal with games that have that sort of garbage in them. XD
So in a way the game is fine in core parts the filler is cool but not great.
Square IP remakes are passable or frustrating. Never played the originals so thats why.
I have played Dosgaea series I started eoth D2 around 2019/2020 for cheap and bought up the seires since. Same woth Valkyria Chronicles 4, rhen 2 then 1.
Wargroove and more. I treat fhem as completelt different but sometimes some old design or differences can get in the way but I still enjoy them to a degree these remakes I just don't love them.
They can be frustrating in some parts of game design. I prefer front mission over tactics ogre though even if both are awkward.
Ofhers eh. Wanted Dead is fair for what it is like Devils Third before it. Whixh I likrd and do Wanted Dead. I just have to play it a very way because I think it has a thing about it.
Many games problems are too business model focused as well and lacking exciting content not engagement and filler.
PS trophies on PC is cool. PSN account besides how PS Now/PS+ for PC i guess. Besides Steam achievements. Sure why not I guess????
Fallout TV show. The trailer didn't appeal to me. I think the world of Fallout like Wolfenstein and Resistance as alt history is awesome. Thing is movie/TV writeing of western media sometimes annoy me with their styles. I don't find them funny or entertaining.
I can warch some and go this has 2000s format sometimes with say some slice of life romance scenes but with more garbage dialogue in it. I could go back to series from then and do so. I know because the scenes in one modern show (not Fallout just to clarifiy) reminded me of Hitch the main female lead in that as a journalist. But in the modern show I don't remember the name of it had similar scenes and angles but more garbage. How times have changed.
I don't think 2000s qas best era I don't. Just was comparable from what I recal of a similar look to it.
Steam World Heist 2 finally I am not i to Dig. I got fair way through Dig but for a Metroidvanias took me 3 attemprs got further but it was so confusing.
But Heist is like a combat system I can get behind. Woth fair charactera.
Build has it's appeal but of course most people don't care about fhem sigh.
Customer size can be a problem and wby games suck so mjch as deva can't expeiment with an IP sometimes. Then we blame deva for lack of trying well blame the audience standards/sales numbers or whatever tweaks to include to change a game.
Wargroove was fine but tedious, if Advance Wars is too hmmm there, most western ones I ai don't like and prefer Japanese so Heist does similar appeal for me.
Nintendo skipping, they do when ready they did an Indie showcase give tbem time for the next partner/third party and 1st party I guess.

They're stale because they don't want to talk about any real controversies that are going on in the industry right now (RGT got kicked off the show for daring to talk about those controversies). If you watch the Side Scrollers podcast, that podcast is an everyday thing rather than once per week, and two of the people on there are always there, but they talk about real news and bring on at least one other person for either an interview or another perspective. And they talk about real news, which is why they don't have to talk about Switch 2 rumors or some other same topics every day, which gets stale.
