Microsoft buying Valve would legitimately be a antitrust issue given Valve's commitment to embracing Linux. It would be a texbook example of buying the competition to avoid competing with them.

Go take a look at Valves's structure. It's so different from any other corporation. Everyone is basically free to work on whatever they want.
Not to mention that regulators would never let this happen. It's a much different situation than ABK. That was a vertical merger. This would be horizontal.

The FTC would absolutely love it. They could make a big stink, sit around with their hands out waiting for Microsoft to make "donations" and then approve once they've collected enough money.

Microsoft buying Valve is less like Activision Blizzard and more like them aquiring Google Play even if they werent rejected by Gaben they would get halted by the FTC because it would just be too large. They barely got away with acquiring Activision Blizzard.
They actually completely steamrolled the FTC. Only one they had any issues with was the CMA. FTC lost like 2-3 times when trying to stop it and got their funding cut as a result.
@@jubei20111 The FTC and other trade orgs would have a much better case against Microsoft buying their only legitimate competitor in the PC gaming space as a whole. Every other competitor has to rely on Windows whereas Valve is almost single-handedly holding up Linux gaming with proton and Steam Deck. Whats left as an alternative to Windows gaming if MS buys Valve and eventually axes proton and Steam Deck as being too costly? Apple Arcade?
@@jack.h99 I don't think FTC could really prove anything that would be strong enough for MS's lawyers to not bulldoze OS's don't matter much either IMO since MS pays out a good chunk of money annually towards the collective fund which keeps Linux alive. Guaranteed 95%+ who game on steam do so on Windows anyhow. Also, FTC typically doesn't get involved in cases where a private company is being acquired (key word "typically"). This is all hypothetical anyhow, and until legal experts weight in we're all just making guesses.

Also EGS needs to step up to Steam's level of quality and customer service if they want a bigger piece of the PC game software pie. Just offering free games and hoping no one notices how awful EGS is to use in comparison to Steam is not a good business strategy.

The idea is to chase away Microsoft, not accept the deal. I think 45 billion would be a fair offer for the full Valve kit & kaboodle. If he's truly smart, he'd separate the company into Valve the store, Valve the game developers & Valve the hardware company so he can sell them separately for even more money.

I’ve said it before a number of times, but given it’s on topic, I’ll say it again: I’d absolutely love a fully fledged Astro game. Playroom was so good. There’s so much potential if they keep it along the same lines, but turned it up to 11.
One thing Nintendo don’t get the credit they deserve for is shipping complete on cart games. TYD does not have a day one patch, it’s all on the cart, when does any other major publisher ship anything complete on disc

The original Tweet was community noted to oblivion and every analyst worth their weight in steel have debunked the rumour. Tom Warren of The Verge said it best, "Giving blue ticks to everyone was bad idea."

I just played through Super Mario Land. It was released in Europe in 1990, 34 years ago. I had it on the Game Boy as a kid. Going thru that experience again kinda made me feel old.
Question is do you remember all the 1-ups hidden on every level? Or the warp pipes, those blocks that can move you up, etc. And did you recall if you beat the game on hard mode, you get stage select?

Another Astro game would be very welcome. The first one was a lot of fun, and it's one of the few PS5 (exclusive) games that make full use of all the controller features which actually increases the immersion, imo.

Yeah, Fromsoft made it, it was pretty good.
The weirdest issue with the 60fps patch is it also speeds up the talk noise. It was a weird adjustment. I felt it made some attack commands easier, but the blocking slightly harder with faster moving enemies. I played a good chunk of the game at 30fps. A janky 60fps was still a very welcome change especially for movement speed outside of battle.
Blue Dragon Remake would be nice. Never got to play it

Blue Dragon is such a great game with some slightly annoying tech problems like loading times, would be nice to see minimal remaster for it with 0 loading times and tweaked graphics
There's no way valve is going to be cheaper than Activision.
As far as Nintendo leaks it's always best to test anti leak methods with games that don't matter as much and see what works best and apply the Anti leak strategies that work to next big thing.

@@Polengue Gaben was one of the engineer who built initial version of Windows. Back in the day there were only one software sold more than Windows. It was video game called Doom. So Bill asked Gaben to work with folks at ID software to port Doom to Windows to promote Windows as gaming platform. Gaben did that and Microsoft proved that their platform is viable platform to play PC games. Even Bill himself played in the advertisements on Doom Windows port. Then Gaben was fascinated about game development and started his own game called Half Life.

No way! Valve is NOT worth 2 Bethesdas. Not that Gabe would sell (not to them, at least). Heck they cashed out 70 Billion for Activision. Even if Microsoft was foolish enough to get laughed out of another room, they'd at least had to offer upwards of 200 Billion if we're being generous. I Know Steam doesn't make that much money, but their true value is complete and absolute dominance of the biggest market and largest user base in an industry where just one single studio can be bought for 70 billion. They'd have a better chance trying to buy EA.

DAFUQ datapoints/anecdotal evidence were they using to come to that conclusion? Like my niche field is just on industry trends within the videogame space to get an idea of where things are going. . . but all the recent actions of microsoft (not xbox, microsoft) would suggest AGAINST the idea of allowing another big purchase to be greenlit by the parent company this early on.
Some Paper Mario speedrunners had insinuated that the 30 FPS is less an issue of Switch power and more a limitation of the Remake being built in Origami King's engine, and seeing that the game speed is tied to the framerate I think that claim checks out.
Nintendo probably was expecting some of these games to be released on the switch 2 or switch pro but they internally delayed the system and kept these games on their current release schedule.
I think that's possible, but is there perhaps a game that was meant to arrive on the regular Switch but now it's going to be released in its successor? Because the only one I can think of is Metroid Prime 4
I think that even if Microsoft promised to close the Xbox portion of the Windows Store in favour of Steam, they would have a problem getting regulatory approval to buy Valve.

Just making a bunch of Astro Kart, Astro Golf, Astro Nauts, Astro paintball should be an easy and given way to have a lot of quirky mini games.
Though that last one was sort of in the demo come to think about it. :)

7:04 Well, yeah, I mean, if you have a 20 frames window to perform an action, at 30fps you have 2/3 of a second to do it. Turn the fps to 60 and you'll have a 1/3 of a second window to do the same thing.

Funnily enough, TTYD runs better in Yuzu than Ryujinx. Some shaders and effects are broken in Ryujinx and the 60fps/resolution patches only work in Yuzu. I'm sure Ryujinx will get fixes soon though.

I was so happy when I saw that my copy of Paper Mario was out for delivery yesterday. I don't even notice the 30fps. I didn't even know the original was 60fps until this remake was announced. It's been a great remake so far.

Wow yeah ps 3 is almost 29 years old. Explains why yesterday when cleaning up after water in the basement i came across a ps3 netflix streaming disc forgot they didn't really have any other way to do it on ps3 and the wii.
