Is it 100% confirmed CoD going to CasualBox Series S gamepass? They already have sports. The casuals can go get them an Xbox instead of a Playstation all good, the games will still sell on Playstation

Square Enix does not call their AA games SD games. SD games are Smart Device games (iOS, Android & PC Browser games) and HD games are AA and AAA console and PC games.
Yeah i mentioned this in the comments of the spawnwave where John made this statement. Its smart and home devices. It went unnoticed there and i imagine it will go unnoticed here as well.

For the PS4 games I'd say bring the Xenosaga Trillogy back, it's really good for an old school JRPG, and Xenoblade which is a successor to the series is doing extremely well on the Nintendo Switch

One thing Spawnwave mentioned that makes a lot of sense is that if you want to sell something in certain regions, some platforms are an absolute must. If you want to sell a game in Japan, put it on a Nintendo system, Europe: put it on PlayStation, and North America : put it on everything. Especially PC, Switch and PlayStation
Games tend to sell pretty well on Switch in Europe too, but PlayStation is definitely on top in that continent.

@@Matanumi I see your point tho but I feel like your take maybe only applies to the US. Most games still dominate on PlayStation. Especially in Europe which is the 2nd biggest market after North America. For example Crisis Core sold better on PS5 alone than Switch in Japan. And Hogwarts Legacy sold 80% on PlayStation. The only platform that I’d argue is irrelevant is Xbox. As far as PlayStation goes, it is still by far the most dominant platform for every single multiplat game released in recent years. So PlayStation is still very much relevant, especially seeing as it’s the base console for all 3rd party devs atm
@@LoomDoom I agree. Europe is PlayStation land. While switch does do well in terms of sales and software, it still doesn’t come close to PlayStation. It’s insane. Japan is Nintendo country and the US/NA is the only region where there’s actual competition between platforms with an even split of relevancy between PlayStation, PC and Switch. Xbox is dying in that region too
I also think genre matters more.
If your game is a jrpg, put it on Nintendo switch and ps5.
If your game is an action and cinematic game, put it on Xbox, ps5 and pc.
If your game is a niche indie game, put it on everything.
The Series X is great for gaming hardware but pretty subpar as a 4K BluRay player compared to the PS5, at least in my personal experience

While Square did release a lot of games, I don't think they're hard to miss if you actually care. Square releases demo and the games are in directs. It's hard to miss them unless you're doing it on purpose.
I mean im in the minority seeing as ive bought nearly every square game that underperformed.. not out of brand loyalty but because square has been making the kind of games i like...im pretty plugged into that space.

People were calling out Yasuke being one of the protagonists when it was first leaked. It wasn't as big then, because it was just a rumor. Now that it's confirmed, people can talk about it without worrying about it being fake. Not to mention, not everyone pays attention to rumors. Just because you didn't see any pushback then, doesn't mean it wasn't there. Don't jump to conclusions. I personally don't care that he's a protagonist as long as it's done well, but with everything people attached to the game have said, it seems like it was done for the sake of diversity.
Theres a difference between a press release and formal marketing. It shouldnt be shocking its getting traction now vs then. Of course its getting more traction now. Its ridiculous to think anything else would have happened.
That said i couldnt care less if they set it in japan and 0 asians in the game....in fact...that would be hilarious.

Exclusivity is not FFs problem. In this very ep the 5:1 sales was covered of xbox to ps5. To hear about them underperforming and attribute it to exclusivity literally requires an attention span shorter than 1 hr.

Final Fantasy 16 and Rebirth are the highest selling current gen-only JRPG games. You're missing that one part. They are JRPGs getting good sales for JRPGs. It's Square's fault for expecting them to sell like Western action games.

I think that‘s a huge part of their huge drop off in console sales. They haven’t even shipped physical games at all to Korea (a mostly physical market outside of PC) since the 360, and I can imagine it’s the same in a lot of countries. Casual gamers in a lot of places are completely unaware that the Xbox brand even exists, and not having any physical presence just makes them invisible.
Digital games make much more profit for developers though
The first one was a success without a physical release though. While I personally have bought neither upon release because of this, I don't think that's the reason this game might underperform.

The problem is does the casual want to pay a monthly or yearly fee, or just buy 9 games? Its whatever if 20 or even 40 million casuals decide to switch to Xbox, Sony still sells games to gamers. GTA6 might not boost PS5 sales. Helldivers2 which is console exclusive to PS5 has its majority sales on PC. And GTA6 will be very late in PS5's life. People could get very comfortable not wanting a PS5 by that point.
I don’t think Gamepass is the issue with Xbox. The issue is that they haven’t been able to move systems. The system (Series X) itself is great, but they haven’t given people enough reasons to get it.
My criteria for buying a console is i wait for 3 exclusives i cant wait to play. The series whateverthefuck currently has 0. PC gamepass means I'll never have a reason to buy one.

I think Square Enix problem wasn't that they flooded the market. I think the quality of none of those games was there. Diofield, Harvestella, Dragon Quest Treasures etc... they all were pretty mediocre. If they had cancelde just one of those games and put the resoureces of that game towards the others, I guess that would have helped sell more numbers
Harvestella wasn’t mediocre at all. It’s one of the best RPGs to come from Square in a long time. I’ve heard nothing but good things about Diofield as well, and Dragon Quest treasures has its own fanbase. But then you throw in Triangle Strategy, Live A Live, Octopath Traveler 2, and others, there really was too much to keep up with.

Square has basically been all ive been playing the past view years because im comfortably inside the niche theyve been serving. But there's a hard cap on growth here. If youre down for these experiences youre eating good...but most would rather starve. Its not a quality issue. Its a taste issue.

Disc games are just keys now. I don't understand why people act like physical games on Playstation or Xbox matter at all. They still must be installed and almost always have day 1 updates. The only true physical games anymore are switch games, and then only 1st party. Disc games are pointless now. It's a digital game that you have to change disc.

Yeah, I platinumed ghost of tsushima or the "best assassin's creed game" as some call it and wow it looks great and that's it. The open world is just bland with the same follow companion/footsteps, kill people, return repeat. Traversing the world also felt like a chore as you can't climb every surface and map isn't helpful so half of the time is spent finding the pathway.
Story and aesthetics are good, but it ultimately made me realise why i am never too impressed by the sony cinematic games. Without story and aesthetics, they aren't any better than ubisoft slop.
Went back to Assassin's creed 2 a couple of months ago and was more impressed by it.
