    I totally feel what you're saying, I will say though, doing a low-carb diet really helped me to control my appetite when I first started a diet (I've had mild, but increasing, food addiction, and it started getting really bad, my BMI went over 30, it was really the last call before some really serious obesity). I found that at least for me, eating one or two big fat-based meals ended up much more comfortable a solutin than three meals + snacks on a carb/protein diet- I was eating less food and less calories, but was feeling more satiated. I lost 50 pounds and I've since reintroduced some carbs (mostly veggies, fruit and dark bread) and I've been having a pretty okay result. Not a bodybuilder or anything, just a rando who got tired of being fat ;)

You cannot burn fat if your insulin levels are constantly high. It doesn't matter what you eat- high insulin levels over the course of the day will not allow your body to free fatty acids.
      So, the video is misleading. There are absolutely "better" carbohydrate sources; however, do not forget high blood sugar precedes insulin spikes. Processed junk food is the worst. Fruit can be better. Grains, as a whole, are full of anti-nutrients and immune-compromising compounds. Complex carbs do not necessarily mean a better source.

If you are exercising a lot carbs are a valuable tool you burn of quickly without much harm to your body. sorry to say that, but this video is bs, at least for average people out there... most of the carbs are "evil" because they spike up your insulin. as we all know, there is no need for us to consume sugar or highly processed carbs... with what beeing said, you can perform perfectly fine on a low carb / keto diet, where your body is using fat as a fuel.. and you lose fat WAY faster than with carbs so this video is just wrong.. when we look back, humans were eating mostly meat, fruits and veggies, so our diet was always low carb... so yes i would say, most of the modern carbs are evil... some carbs are okay, but not neccesary in any way...

    • @rateater1857
      @rateater1857 Před rokem

      @@adidkjf I mean, fruits are chock-full of carbs, veggies less so, but if you wanna stay in proper ketosis (less than 20g carbs per day), you have to seriously cut back on both of these, which is doable, but long-term, it can get tough. Low-carb (less than 80-100g carbs per day) is easier and perfectly achievable while still eating your veggies (but needs cutting on some carb-rich fruit). Historically, humans were generally intermittently fasting, but bread's been existing for thousands of years in some form, pretty much as soon as humans went from nomadic to settled. All in all, it's up to the preference - some people just can't do low-carb, for various reason, and that's okay. I'm personally pro low-carb, but I don't think carbs are the devil, no.

    Been saying this myself for ages. The reason diets like keto work isn't because carbs make you fat, it's because most of the carbs people eat are simple- as you said, calorie-dense and devoid of nutrition. It's like suddenly deciding all fat is bad because, as it turns out, drinking the contents of the grease trap at the end of a shift at Wendy's isn't healthy.

    • @peradies7044
      @peradies7044 Před 2 lety

      @@happiebaby humans in general eat a much higher proportion of carbs than any other food, especially in the developed world. All calorie dense meals we often consume (pizza, pasta, fast food, fries, donuts) are all carbs, we don't often hear of steak and chicken meals (without any form of carbs) being 1000 calories plus like many of the carb meals I mentioned. I see where you're coming from with carbs and protein being on par in terms of cal per gram, but what I'm saying is that the average person consumes vastly more calories from carbs then from protein, vegetables etc.. And so cutting out carbs would lead to a much larger reduction in calories consumes

      They are literally not essential. I went without appreciable amounts of them for 2 years. I got leaner, gained muscle, and all of my bloodwork markers improved. Animals and greens were all I ate. So some kale starch and glycogen is basically all the carbs I had in my diet. Depending on your genetics, activity levels, and the source it's not necessarily a big deal to eat a lot of carbohydrate but it's in no way essential.

    • @chloedemeter5473

      Glycogen stores were slower to refill but that's about the only "side effect" I experienced. I could still train heavy triples and gain muscle from it. Things like "bodybuilding" oriented time under tension training suffered some. But that's it.

    The "carbs bad" argument is a little bit more complex than this though. The claims they make are that:
    1) carbs have a lower satiety, therefore eating the right number of calories is physically more difficult if you're eating carbs, and the studies you cite which hold calorie intake constant are basically just missing the point.
    2) Metabolic compensation during dieting is more aggressive if you're eating carbs. You'll fidget less/ feel less energetic / want to exercise less therefore also hitting the other side of the energy equation.
    You might need more than 2 minutes to do this topic proper justice.
