It would have made sense if the space left was a diamond shape or if the pieces themselves formed a diamond, but as is, I agree. It looks like it's missing a few pieces.

between 8:20-8:25 it's nearly solved, it's suppose to solve to create a martian face with only the eyes and area surrounding the face remaining open
so then he didn't actually get the correct solution? sometimes i think it'd be better to specify that the end result is supposed to be something specific.
@@honeycomb937 I think so too. When I googled it, there are 2 pictures of the completed puzzle with 2 diamonds in the centre.
He got the correct solution. It's exactly the same as the solution posted on the website of the guy who made this.
Google "the colonel's puzzles Martian diamond", first result is said page with links to print out the puzzle and solution at the bottom.

That would likely be the easy mode. Since it is possible to fit the pieces in with the alien, I think it was meant to be that way.
that's where it starts when you buy the puzzle, the point is to fit *all* the pieces into the big space and Chris explained that. Don't you people commenting about the alien spot realize that the puzzle would be incredible easy, and incredibly stupid, if that alien was designed to go there for the solution??

This one felt too arbitrary. I can't see any sort of logic that would lead to figuring out how it should be placed
It became harder because he insisted on doing vertically, instead of horizontally. I thought duting the whole video that the alien piece was the clue and should be oriented like the outside shape. And in the end that is what happened.
I watch a lot of CZcams, like a lot! You have the best intros of any youtuber I've ever watched hands down. I could watch a compilation of your intros for hours and not get bored
I love these Jigsaw type puzzles, they're some of the most entertaining to watch! Keep up the great channel! (Also, the intro quality and stuff has been spot on, and getting better!)

I fully agree, Chris. It feels like the puzzle is incomplete if all the space isn't covered. Not the same kind of satisfaction.
So, thanks to your channel now massively into puzzles (currently agonizing over a level 10 wooden cube puzzle) when I went to Mind Games in the Gold Coast to buy some they said they get a bunch of business because of you! Pretty cool. Your channel is what I watch at work when there are no customers around.

I just stumbled upon this channel. Very interesting aesthetic... never thought one could make solving puzzles look so cool

I think this design (when solved), with the use of negative space, represents the shine spots of the diamond.
The Intro with smoke and that hue of green was awesome.
With these kind of Jigsaw puzzles (with a shape to fill on a tray), it might be easier to do it ouside the tray (If the shape is obvious of course), then place it in. Sure it loses the asmr component of the vid., but in this case would have been alright to avoyd the glare and mirrored camera that wasn't confortable for you.

Excellent. The jigsaw puzzles are my favorite.
Just one little observation, alll the remaining gaps were quadrilaterals (4 sided shapes) just like diamonds.

As a guy who went to film school, for this type of video I'd recommend adjusting your lighting to hit your subject from the sides (consider 2 or 3 point lighting). You'll get less glare and the camera will pick up more of the texture on the surfaces of the puzzles. Depending on your setup you can set up a flag (a black sheet works) to block glare from lights, too. I always love your work Chris. Keep it up!
