    Those puzzles may seem very hard
    To recombine or take apart;
    But Mr. Puzzle as you may guess
    Never fails to then impress.
    Packing puzzles, cubes and locks,
    Opening a baffling box,
    Whether metal, steel or wood,
    Nothing stops him, he’s too good.
    Only once did things look grim
    And an expert soon helped him;
    But they solved it fast together:
    Puzzle made of giraffe leather.
    Every puzzle fan agrees
    You’ve got lots of expertise,
    Doing something you enjoy,
    Playing with a simple toy,
    Bringing people so much joy!
    Watching you is a delight,
    Hope your future‘s very bright,
    With a million subs my mate,
    Keep on puzzling, you are great!

    I love the fact that the symmetry of the solution can be best viewed from the edges of the pieces. The solutuon is an art by itself. Great video

    • @BenKarcher
      @BenKarcher Před 3 lety

      The solution doesn't have any symmetries. That's part of what makes it so difficult.
      Spoiler warning!:
      Infact the solution consists of rotating a grid by arctan(1/2) and then positioning that inside the frame such that 20 squares are fully inside the frame and filling those in. because the side lengths aren't a perfect multiple of 1/2 the resulting shapes are not symetrical. There are actually a few different shapes you can get like this depending on how you position the grid but only 1 of those ends up being solvable with the 4 pieces that are given. To give an example of what I mean you could move the entire solution a tiny bit to the left. This would cut off 2 squares from the T but give enough room on the right to add 2 new squares (one in the curve of the S and one under the S. While this gives another area 20 shape of connected squares it isn't one that can be solved with the 4 pieces. This is what makes the puzzle so diabolical because even discovering the correct rotation of the pieces isn't sufficient to get to a solution

    In my younger and more vulnerable years my father gave me some advice that I’ve been turning over in my mind ever since.
    "Whenever you feel like criticizing any one," he told me, "just remember that all the people in this world haven’t had the advantages that you’ve had."
    He didn’t say any more but we’ve always been unusually communicative in a reserved way, and I understood that he meant a great deal more than that. In consequence I’m inclined to reserve all judgments, a habit that has opened up many curious natures to me and also made me the victim of not a few veteran bores. The abnormal mind is quick to detect and attach itself to this quality when it appears in a normal person, and so it came about that in college I was unjustly accused of being a politician, because I was privy to the secret griefs of wild, unknown men. Most of the confidences were unsought-frequently I have feigned sleep, preoccupation, or a hostile levity when I realized by some unmistakable sign that an intimate revelation was quivering on the horizon; for the intimate revelations of young men, or at least the terms in which they express them, are usually plagiaristic and marred by obvious suppressions. Reserving judgments is a matter of infinite hope. I am still a little afraid of missing something if I forget that, as my father snobbishly suggested, and I snobbishly repeat, a sense of the fundamental decencies is parcelled out unequally at birth.
    And, after boasting this way of my tolerance, I come to the admission that it has a limit. Conduct may be founded on the hard rock or the wet marshes, but after a certain point I don’t care what it’s founded on. When I came back from the East last autumn I felt that I wanted the world to be in uniform and at a sort of moral attention forever; I wanted no more riotous excursions with privileged glimpses into the human heart.

    This puzzle is so deceptive - it looks like it should be easy, heck before you started I was SURE I knew the answer. Therein lies the beauty of it; instead of spending hours moving magnets in invisible mazes, you have to think in a completely different perspective to achieve success. It's almost like trying to earn a living on CZcams.

    When an individual finds themselves at a place or point of indecision, often times, solving another problem is the key to seeing a solution you've been overlooking in other areas. This is the beauty of a puzzle, it gives you the capacity to identify dynamic solutions to real world problems by challenging yourself to think differently.

    This is from my heart, I don’t wish to be selected( there are more deserving people than me). I want to take this time to reflect and thank Mr.Puzzle.
    Sometimes the most difficult of all puzzles are not the ones in our hands but rather the circumstances of our lives. Mr.
    Puzzle has mastered both types. As he is a great person who has created millions of hours of hours of views solving the most challenging puzzles( you know it’s serious when he gets his pen and graph paper out 😁) which we have enjoyed world wide. He solved the most complex giraffe puzzle ever 😀. All the while being a great engineer and family man, even during the last difficult year. He will certainly choose a very deserving person for this very nice puzzle.
    Congratulations to the winner and thank you for all your videos, it’s been a pleasure to watch and rewatch many of them. I hope to meet you some day.
    Warmest regards
    Eric😀
