Some very cool details there. Loving the design direction, the material experimentation, and the whole wires-are-passé notion. Here's hoping it inspires the mainstream manufacturers, at the very least. :)
No headphone jack? Ouch!
No micro USB? No, just no! At least they could've put Thunderbolt (although I'm sure Apple would sue them to oblivion if they did). Proprietary connector and data transfer software. Please no.
Admittedly, the water and shock proofing is something that the smartphone market desperately needs, though. Kudos for that.

At first sight, some weeks ago, I wanted this phone. No longer. No headphone jack, sometimes my Bluetooth headset need to be charged, and I use my corded ear buds. No micro USB, I can only use a proprietary connector, which if I get a short in the cord, I can't run to target/walmart and pick one up. And only connect to pc using proprietary software, possible only to install on Windows or Mac. I use Linux/ChromeOS. I'm assuming it won't be available for a Chromebook or Ubuntu. Proprietary skin used on Android also. Using a Launcher, icons, rooting or a custom rom is out. People use Android for freedom to choose how we use our devices. Being restricted, may as well use Apple or Windows. I really wanted to like this phone. Oh well...

BandNerdcp Yup. Phone OEMs already ignore audio quality enough as it is. This is just a huge slap in the face for people who want to have a decent listening experience on their phone.
BandNerdcp If all of our music wasn't in a digital format, that would be true. But it is. ALL digital. Unless your phone has a record player built in. Digital music loses nothing over wireless.

No headphone jack is just irrational. Bluetooth tech will never replace wired end of story: its less reliable, harder to use, your listening device needs battery, incompatible and most importantly, there are very few Bluetooth earbuds out there and that's what 95% of people use, your not gonna lug your giant audio technica's on to the subway are you? This phone better come with it's own headphone or its gonna be a deal breaker for 90% of costumers. Also, proprietary software for PC? What is this, 2006?
Michael Cottow uhm..bluetooth or other wireless means that might come will eventually kill the need for cables. It'll just rise in speed and energy efficiency so much that cables will be a hassle. Because cables get damaged far more easily than the actual listening device, especially if you, as you said, take it to the subway.
But besides the point, we're not at that point yet..and this phone is kinda silly, seems to be made for rich people that have extremely important data to keep in their devices apparently. Still i don't think anyone needs that much security. There are plenty of decent security solutions in Android and Apple app markets, I think.
The PowerBeats 2 are extremely popular… not saying they are good, but a lot of people _do_ have Bluetooth headphones.

The turing phone comes with its own bluetooth enabled earphones in the box which will sort of make up for the lack of earphone port. By the attention to detail they have showed so far, I think it will be seamless with the software and could be the future.

***** This company has been around far before destiny even started development, so if anything, Bungie copied them. But I can see how it could just be a coincidence, I mean the shape of it with the 3 little bulges is a pretty common shape. The Avast logo is the same but with 4 bulges instead of 3.

I dig it, futuristic looking phone, reminds me a lot of the game Destiny. Sad no headphone jack or micro usb port but still an interesting phone.
they are supposed to come with bt earbuds, plus there's lots of companies making bt buds now. just gotta research the good ones, they also sell a case that'll add a 3.5mm jack and huge transfer rates among other things. just FYI. they plan on running android at first, and updating to the turing os next year.. this is what tri is saying as of late.

I'm not sure about withstanding shocks. I would imagine since the material doesn't dent on a hard fall, the vibrations will be greater. But yea, defiantly a interesting device. I wonder if the company name pays homage to Alan Turing. It would be cool if it did :)
