    I think what most stock port turbo guys miss is that although they improve charge density with their turbo set ups, the improvement for air speed and flow is left out when they stay with the stock ports.

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  Před 2 lety +3

      yes and an engine is an engine no matter n/a or turbo
      and when ports like cams can affect the graph shape? it matters as much as the turbine capability no diff when checking a "compressor" map to pick n choose a turbine.
      sure there is "traction control"
      but how is it if 1-2-3rd gear traction control percentage is up that it seems like u are running a weak engine? result? slower times

    Love this and looks beautiful. I have maybe oddest question but if you have a opinion would be appreciated but if not thats cool. If one likes the K24/K20 series but always wished the exhaust porting was different for sound reasons, caring about power but not as much as sound, would something like this potentially make a good compromise? Studied engine sound for awhile and found engine like K20 have too much gutted directly aft individual the ports (good for emission and purpose of layout, fine for power but) generally for sound smoother or tighter transition from 2-1 with less extreme expansion then K20 has should sound cleaner. Thinking custom port possibly with slightly enlarged valves could be a answer but i;ve never worked on K series. Just for general street hotrodding purposes, figure point of entry may be a bit less too?
    Any thoughts?

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  Před rokem +2

      That makes sense actually and even in power Endyn with their new casting Kseries head years ago did notice when they ported “smaller” the bare casting it did surprise them on the flow aspect…maybe just maybe it would have sounded different too as you stated cuz it was a smaller exhaust port

    Just picking your brain, which would you choose for a daily driver/weekend circuit rig?
    Stock K24 with a well ported head and valve job, VTC gear, a very good header and intake setup that's tuned
    or
    Built 85x87.4 b-series with s2 pro2 cams, decent cast pistons, well-ported head and valve job, good header and intake and tune.

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  Před 2 lety +4

      hard hard question... id choose stock k24 ported head for its massive torque and all...
      the 85x87.2 wil have significant torque but incomparable due to displacement... then we make sure we run r888 tires or ar1 to have "some grip" while k24....
      so with those factored in? more expensive K24 and more spin is why sometimes i suggest 85x87.4
      more usable realistic on the road power
      more built/karga so morefun for the owner at nearly lesser cost
      sigh see how hard it is to choose?

    I noticed the speed with your carbide bit is very low which can help with the bit skipping and causing issues. I like your finished work but a Dyno before and after the porting would be awesome. The k series heads flow "around" 300 cfm stock so they aren't really strangled for most of the off the shelf camshafts for a na build. Sure a well ported head will make more power but why not prove a stock vs ported head Dyno.

      And also u are right on the Ks flowing real good but as stated on the video I was pinpointing some locals here that brag about it but run 4 bars boost? Ofcourse they keep it hush hush that they melt injector tips? 🤣 hence the example was the H3 ported Bseries 2liter that still holds the record here and makes as much as 1,137whp with less boost…
      I think on the p2j video I did show what customers in Austria did which is cool
      They slapped on a z6 head by us and gained 90whp same boost on the dyno
      But since it started to run out of injectors they redynoed third time with more boost and did hold the 1mile record back then on Austria ftw!

      @@SRDmotorsports I agree with you a local shop in orange county just does a really simple 5 minute pocket port job with their turbo b series builds. I'm going to be porting their heads that have already been dynoed to show there is so much room for improvement. Even if it's only 20whp on a turbo build anything to get the turbo to spool faster or to increase velocity throughout the entire rpm band would make a huge difference with drag or road race application. All these guys bragging about high boost stock port have no idea what they're missing.

    Here in the USA most people want the PRB head on the k24 block for the reasons you mentioned. I was wondering if this basic port job you did would allow the RBB head to exceed PRB performance on an all motor k24 setup?

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  Před 11 měsíci +2

      I think it could, I’ve not yet done enough r&d to tell but a couple of World time attack competitors in Au we did a couple of RBB for their track cars and they stuck to that configuration. For a couple of years before going turbo and switching to PRB
      I guess some would say the PrB will give more top end? And street with DIC
      Ok makes sense but then also the RBB could prolly do the same and get good top end with a DC3.2 or something cam and still be streetable

    • @paul06660
      @paul06660 Před 11 měsíci +1

      @@SRDmotorsports I read somewhere that Honda cast the PRB head with a finer grain sand to improve performance without doing hand porting like with the B series Type R heads. Being that the RBB ports are cast so rough im sure porting would bring performance close if not exceed the stock PRB head. Especially if you use the 2006-2008 k24a2 cylinder head that has the larger intake valves and more aggressive vtec cam lobe.

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  Před 11 měsíci +2

      From the looks of it RBB and PRB looks like they are both cast better than the B but so small diff it is miniscule but I can see K fans saying it to talk down on Bseries which is more common 😂🤣

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  Před 2 lety +1

      even excellent question :)
      the flat faced valves i favor as in general it raises about 0.3 in static compression
      resurfacing the head during headworks from us
      its free of choice from 0.005" removed or 0.040" (1mm) removed and 0.030" resurfaced is 0.75mm that generally bumps 0.7-0.8 in static comp
      so altogether thats 0.8 + 0.3 = 1.1
