  • As we work on this K20a PRB head casting off an Integra DC5
    we decided to show you guys a pocket ported head
    prior to continuing towards a fully ported head as we planned to
    This is for the upcoming K20a TypeR rebuild project with a twist!
    we also talk about bowl work and carbide approach and then ofcourse
    towards the 80grit finish/work and taking it a detailed step further
    and going with a 120grit finish on the exhaust ports
    we did talk about our past works with Prodigy Race Engines from Minnesota
    as well as a couple of contenders that competed at the
    World Time Attack Challenge in Sydney Australia.
    I hope this gives you guys a few good views and perception when it comes to having your head ported from someone reputable
    as mentioned about my issue on having my facebook account hacked

    I know the b series type r heads came ported from the factory I'm not sure of they did that to the k series as well. The head on those Ks are crazy good, goes to show a great flowing and efficient head can do wonders, great video brother

    can you get your hands on a K24Z cylinder head and port intake and exhaust

    Nice vids! Im about to do the porting job on my RSP-2 head. Did you ever have one of these? Because it looks pretty well ported already and i'm about to run at 12.5cr with big lift cams and itb, so it should be capaple of 10k rpm. Is there more porting needed than this? And do i have to increase the diameter on the intake ports or is this useless unless you use oversized valves?
    Love from Germany ✌️

      U can do just a simple pocket port style clean up and yes the RSP is a nice head

    Thanks Ralph for every video you make ! Really prepared and really serious stuff!!
    If you were in Europe i'll be glad to let my P30 Head be ported by you ahaha
    Btw what's the approx gain on a fairly stock engine (only Intake/header/exhaust) in terms of nm and hp for a head porting? (b16a2 160hp)

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  Před rokem +1

      Thanks for that man I appriciate that!
      Gains actually depends especially on tuning it can be anywhere from 8-10hp to even 15-18hp

      I don’t have much of those but I know the scotch brite ones does real good finish,
      But the 120grit + ethyl alc/dishwashing soap works good atleast for me hehe

      @chaohang11 Před rokem +1

      @@SRDmotorsports are you using soap/water mix with alcohol? Or just soap and alchol mix?

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  Před rokem +1

      The dishwashing soap “Joy” in brand here is liquid and thee ethyl alcohol is liquid so it liquifies it further….
      But that’s it no need to add water, well u can try and test it out too and see what works for you

    did you make the tool you are using with the 80grit yourself or is there a way I can buy that online? i'm using a standard dremel and have to get to close to the valve seets and i'm afraid i might screw them up.

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  Před rokem +2

      It’s just a 6 in shafting I chopped I believe it’s a Ducati or harley steel pushrod (I think Harley)
      but the more proper Standard Abrasives shank (6in) is a lot better cuz the sanding / cartridge rolls are better shaped conically letting u make a way better finish
      I believe Standard Abrasives are still in business in the US and they got a 6in long shank

    Great video 👍what do you think of Dimple porting

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  Před rokem +2

      That’s a great question however debatable and I wish not to offend those who do it differently be it erroneously or not hehehe
      but I’m sure u can fill ur own answers on that
      And to stay on topic il share inputs :
      The reason for pocket porting if not fully ported is to let the transition be better than “as cast” and if that is improved you “recharge” the air and fuel mix into the chamber across the valve seat and past the valves… this in turn makes it more efficient by way of “less drag”
      a lot of times that’s forgotten due to being fixated on “flow” but drag exists
      unless we see a “rough” textured wing or a rough textured huracan and it’s better? hmmmm

      @e.3-0_m3 Před rokem +2

      @@SRDmotorsports yes I done a bit looking into it and seen mixed results on it that why I interested in your views on it as I would consider you to be best in business
      Pocket port as work you have done on this head is best all round setup this what I do on any my own heads just so for myself now I have always been doing 80 finish on intake and 120 on exhaust from what I have seen was the best to go to because exhaust smooth and intake bit rough for best air fuel mixture but I see you finished intake 120 too so is this what I should be finishing the intake too on my heads from now on

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  Před rokem +2

      Wow good attention to detail
      And nice we do the same I use 80grit finish on intake and 120g on exhaust
      on usual occasions like this I go 120 on intake mainly cuz even the stock Kseries injectors spray “better” than our old Bseries and Dseries
      And I know this one will run the newer ID injectors too so that’s as good or better…
      my earlier answer is also the reason I do the “bowls” on the intake to 120grit on others even if the rest of the port is 80grit (that’s a secret lol)

    • @e.3-0_m3
      @e.3-0_m3 Před rokem +2

      @@SRDmotorsports wow thanks for that secret now you say that it makes prefect sense so what your doing is were it is straight at start leave 80 grit for mixture and 120 grit on turn because it near valve and turning so has more drag compare to start and that way it have even flow from start to finish
      Thanks as said I love really technical things but only for myself and my own projects

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  Před rokem +2

      yes ideally we want the valve seat (where the valve job is done) to get the most charge passing thru it cuz it’s how it shines well
      In the end we just “filled” the chamber maybe more than usual and that’s power hehe

    How much bhp does this increase ?

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  Před rokem +1

      It really depends on how much the engine needs to breath it depends
      It could be 5-8hp to even 15-18hp or up to 30-40hp
