- Here we port and develop a PRB casting K20A head and discuss things about valve to throat ratio and even the port divider and many more
here is a link to the k24 RBB head porting we did
We also discuss certain areas we avoid when porting with the carbide and during clean up, about throat ratio related to valve size and many more
like port divider preferences and theory and what works for us and all.
please do check out our facebook page for many more

This is great, thanks for sharing. I subscribed!
Oh thanks man! Hope the rest of the videos and even future stuff helps further
Ftw!
Solid nanaman na content! wiiiiw
thaaaaaaanks man
Nice job here. It seems a lot of work. You also explained about the torque and certain other things connected with this job... valve size... Great man. You got my like here.
p.s. Hope Gilberto is already "out of prison". :)
thanks man!
Nice job explaining it thanks alot I can port my k20a2 head with 4piston rr3 camshaft cheers 🍻
oh thats a nice set-up!! good luck :) you'll be hurting alot of B-series soon 🤣
Steady hands u got there sir 🔥
does take some getting used to :) but i think the bigger advantage is i enjoy it hence patience is always free
@@SRDmotorsports i hear ya.. i think the place where you do the porting is a big factor too, i didn't enjoy port matching my intake manifold because the place was busy and people were drinking 🤣
@@mikodelacruz oh yes indeed indeed
as noticed on the shop tour the porting bench is by the edge of the work area in a corner after the "shelves" hehe
Dude I have so much opportunity right now. My head gasket blew so im doing the whole nine plus the chain and water pump. While the head is off I’m just clean the valves and port out the head
see now youre sounding lik all of us... always a perfect time to spend on the engine 🤣 kidding but i agree check on it and let you clean it up ftw!
These ports look really really good👍🏾😂 I’m gonna do the same thing with mine, it’s so clean
oh sweet! take it easy man but most importantly enjoy ftw!
on my old videos ive stated the lube i spray while i do the sanding roll passes is
40-50% Ethyl alcohol mix with
40-50% Dishwashing soap or liquid soap
wd40 is decent but it smears around the carbon build ups and is lubed with oil so it gets messy...
carb cleaner works too BUT it dries too fast like 1-2 pass its dry so it can get expensive and bad to inhale
HTH man
WD40 for the win! Clean asf ❤ chief.
On side note. Na-LSS ko na yung intro music mo chief 🤣
yeah whoever made wd40 did awesome last i heard it was like milspec din for the Navy? or Army like they needed a lube that would prevent rust on chains and other machines and the 40th formula worked hence "Wet/Dry 40" maybe i should research and make a trivia vid lol
on the intro music its by Lost in the Moment? hanapin ko nga tunay , track name is
are you ready? its caled "cherry blossom" hahaha copyright free from an App haha
👌👍😊
thaaaaanks for checking :) d ako mka comment sa kids game 🤣 nka "like" lang haha
Hi, im one of your folowers and im a bit confused which k24 should i get. Im aware of k24a2 but its hard to find it here in philippines, however theres a lot of k24a around but i want to know which one of those are between 196-200hp do you have any idea on which k24 would i choose? I will highly appreciate if you could educate me about the serial no. Or any particular things i should look for
Hey sorry late reply, uhm tbh… the differentiating numbers like k24a2 or something for the k24 I believe is more of a minor thing unlike the k20a vs k20z which the vtec itself is different
It’s more like the b20 analogy if u notice locally everyone preaches phk this or that need Jdm etc when in reality even a p3f piston local b20 with healthier rings and valve seals will make MORE than any jdm “nambawan” b20 phk 😂 so hopefully you don’t get all too caught up in it
Tbh not many even know the oem k24 cam is bigger than even the k20a typeR cam
Whoops! I said it lol
Looks good amigo. After this kind of work do we need to lap the valves?
oh good question amigo... usually like this or after this we send it to Edmel (machineshop) for our three angle work or valvejob
but in instances that is mild or basic como a sua head? nos a costuma fazer a lap o valvulas a cabeca :) so you can do the same
Do you know how much i can resurface k24a3/2 head? If I will use high compression ferrea flat valves? Thank you in advance for your answer.
Oh hey thanks for this…
For the Bseries it’s 0.040” max I believe
And on the Kseries it’s somewhere in the 0.015-0.020” region I think
But I have seen Bseries resurfaced more than 0.050” 😀 and Kseries up to 0.040” I believe but Ofcourse the chain tensioner has to be checked and new to be safe
Though I won’t go over 0.010” on the K
I would update another comment on a few days once I get some solid info
I hope I do :)
@@SRDmotorsports thank you for your answer.. so not more than 0.2mm? Ok, thank you very much!!!!
@@enjoytheride_cz yeah I would like to make sure the tensioner is still good
Tip: you can try installing the head to the block without gasket? Just to see if the tensioner can get tight enough
Our mls headgasket is 0.026” 😎 free test before spending cash on the machineshop
Would make a video of intake manifold dimpling
That would be interesting
Why did you not make the shape more sharp in the middle of chamber? :)
Well by doing that, it also means u increase cross sectional area and depends on heads and applications we lose torque
Some say get it sharp for more flow and top end? Well more top end = more cam that’s simpler and u still have good midrange
So it depends on application and it’s easy to do it but not so easy to reverse it hehe so I leave this like this because this is my spare so until I know where it should be used on? Then il adjust by then hehe
No gasket matching on this one I see. Curious why not? Thought you gasket matched on the K24 head on other video. K20 always said to have best flow from factory of course but figured it would have gasket matched porting.
We did on the manifold used
Oh okay. Thanks for reply.
No probs sir
Do you have any port videos on a H22 head I would like to know the percent of the throat to valve is it 33mm 91%=30 like the k series? Thanks u
Sadly no 🙁 the H22 engines I did were around 3yrs ago a circuit engine, a turbo street car and an NA street car
But the H22 has 35mm intake
I go for 90% and that’s 31.5mm
Crazy tip my friend 😎
You can get a junk b16 intake valve of 33mm bring it to a machineshop? Have them turn it to the mm size u want and
That is your throat checker 😎
@@SRDmotorsports so by putting a bigger valve you could increase the air flow from more power ?
@@angeluribe2232 In theory yes “IF” the engine has the comp and cam to make it work as valve sizes related to lift and duration too
@@SRDmotorsports is because I'm trying to squeeze all the power I can out of this H22 I dropped in typos Pistons titanium retainers and everything is pretty much OEM I made 190 whp 150tq my compression I'm not sure not sure what ratio it is it's like around 11:1 to like 12:1 because the piston is supposed to be 11:1 but the block and the head are decked to the maximum all I know is that my cylinder are 240 PSI with the compression tester I want to Port the head and put a cam for more power and run E85 what cam should I put? And what boltons cuz it's stock right now? Thank u
4P nang pinas solid..
Wow!!! thats too much compliment 🤣 thanks the video actually is relatable to sohc and bseries for "iwas sungaw"
same lang sa gawa nang 4P di lahat binabawasan sa pag port may part lang tlga need malinis and di lahat nilalakihan. CNC na yon and same sa video mo may part na di ginagalaw basta basta tlga.
@@marthietrinidad3496 oooh that makes sense d ko pa napapansin vid nila pero it makes sense malamang they know whats up 😏
Hi how can I contact you’ll? I want to ask a questions about porting k20 head for turbo thanks
Our shop page has a link in the description of this video you can check it out and message us at the shop page
Can I send you a head to port how much do you charge
link is on the description of each video for the shop page and we got a pinned pricelist there
What's the critical max you follow with the valve to throat ratio?
personally? 90% only no point really i mean its hard to often get 89% but i would if i could
mainly cuz bigger cams will work better for the goal but not sacrifice response and torque
its like a b20vtec vs b20vtec
one has 91% throat pro2 cams
and
one has 89% throat pro3 cams
we know which i would choose 😏
Sorry got too excited and asked the question first before finishing the video
@@findtherightbeat nah man all good I think i didnt reiterated it enough eh
@@SRDmotorsports Thanks! What do you think of the idea of using the short side itself as the choke instead of the throat? Using the turn to get the airspeed up
@@findtherightbeat actually the short turn has the most airspeed of all areas because its the short turn... alot of times when ported improperly the long side or bowl gets bigger than desired = the speed differential between that and short turn experiences sheering effect which naturally becomes a hindrance to flow
How much for the head?
where are you from sir? shipping might be costly for this bare head and or the k24 one
this k20a is 28,000 pesos and the k24 rbb is 25,000 pesos (Philippines currency)
