- The Knight Family Motorsport Honda K24 Turbo powered KE70 Corolla is one mean little car!
With just under 600HP at the hubs this little stick shift Toyota is crazy fast and sounds insane when it's on boost!
This video originally set out to be a 3 port vs 4 port boost control solenoid comparison but after an unexpected boost spike at a low RPM causing higher than normal cylinder pressures something was going to give way.
In this case we were lucky that the Coolant pressure sensor did its job and caught the fault before it did any serious damage and we were able to replace the head gasket with a fresh one without having to machine any surfaces.
We're Modifying the exhaust manifold to accommodate a GFB EX44 Wastegate which will get done and bolted back on in a future episode, Kye is a busy man and doesn't get all that many chances to use his own dyno so once he's free we'll be back there with the camera and this time try to keep the gasket in one piece!

Gotta agree. They never referred to Al's shed as "The Skid Factory", it was always Al's shed... even though it was a full on metal GARAGE with lifts and a/c. The Skid Factory was their brand, it's them

It's fun to see how much more relaxed Kai has gotten with the camera. In the beginning he was so obsessed with being coherent that he ended up over explaining everything. Now he's laid back and the technical advice just flows seamlessly into jokes and back again.
The Woodcrew at the new Skidfactory is shaping up nicely. Hope lots of blokes come around and do projects with Woody.
Al will be missed but never forgotten!

Sounds like he's got the same type of swampass temperatures we see her in Florida. 35°c + 158% humidity is no Bueno. Those light bills will suck but you'll get more done if you're not melting like a popsicle

I was a mechanic in the 60’s and I’m absolutely blown away by how Kye can interpret all that data. Very impressive. Engine development and management has certainly come ahead since my day.

I currently run 28psi in lil feral's twincharged 4ag. Current engine runs 10mm arp head studs and standard mls head gasket.
The new build if I ever get to afford the rest of the parts it needs will have 1/2" arp head studs plus a special o'ringed head gasket that I already have sitting in the parts box for the build.
Once I've built the new engine I am hoping to get Kye to tune it! From his wealth of knowledge and the way he talks I just know he'll be the one to appreciate my setup.

@@kaydog890 when I've built new engine? Possibly get a chance to save for pistons (only engine internals I haven't got yet) and machining after I've got the old bus I am trying to get liveable asap to keep a roof over myself and wife's head.

I remember modding these ke70s back in the day when a stout 5k with a set of webers was a fast street car… probably had all of 150-160hp.
600hp in a ke70 is insane haha.

Also, recommend looking at changing your framerate and camera shutter settings to fix the flickering fluro lights at Kye's dyno shed.
It'll really help to play around and find the camera setting that matches the 50hz frequency of the 230v AC (that powers the fluros). Quick google/youtube help guide and you''ll be right mate.

Kai, good thing you didn't get 60 psi of boost at once Pfi Speed made a two-piece short motor in the burnout box. One of the most devastating but spectacular self destructs I have seen in a while!

@someyoungguy6990 I don't have any equipment that cab get into the stock 2gr ecu but I do believe it is possible to tune it.

That's such an Al thing to do, chucking a K motor in a 300zx. Would've been cool to see all the purists' heads melt. Although, Al could get away with most things... Woody, check out "Fireball Tool". The dude is based in Spokane, Washington US and makes some real trick fab tools and great great videos. Has a couple of bench vises in store including a 5" forged thing for like 125 US. If something makes it to his online shop, it's good enough for us. Wilton is established and has a cool range but pricey. Fireball may have an intermediate model out now. Haven't checked out the latest vids. A fab table on rollers would be the perfect mobile bench. You could mount some sliding drawers to the underside. Only you can know what works best for you in that space. The more things you get done in there, the better you can narrow down the necessities. Congrats!

Quick teck tip turn your dowels 180 when installing back in the block should prevent this happening next time i.e the side that was in the head goes in the block
