Between Liz'z angelic voice and Robin Guthrie's gorgeous guitar work, this and many other Cocteau Twins songs are amazing. They are their own genre of music.
That's what I love to much
The Cocteau Twins' music can hit me so hard (emotionally) some days ... the beauty of Liz's voice and Robin's amazing guitar sounds bring me to tears.
i havent heard this song in years! Cocteau Twins have been one of my favorites since the 80's.
Yay!!! So happy to hear that it's ones of your favorites and that you haven't heard it in years till now 😁 hope you enjoyed the reaction
@@gabe.absoluteyou called it! Def a sound actually from the 80s. Love your reaction!
I have the 7" vinyl sleeve of this signed by Simon Raymonde! I also know Elizabeth Fraser's sister! beautiful romantic song. - C
That's awesome 😁
The parts of the song that are relatively decipherable suggest nothing more and nothing less than a bucolic sunrise tableau - ruby suns, ruddy cups, rows of pearly dewdrops, rooster, lark in [metaphorical] paleasse, tulips...I just wish I knew what she was gabbling in the chorus prior to the repetitive "pearly pearly pearly"...
Some strange and dubious theories about this song have been floated (especially on a certain website) - let's just say that I do NOT believe that it's about an cosmological disaster.
All that said - this song has major nostalgic appeal for Brits of a certain age because it was the Cocteau Twins first major commercial success.
Also, the video has gained some fame because it was filmed in and around a disused psychiatric hospital in Virginia Waters - one which was active in the days when they used to execute patients for being too "hysterical". (There's an article about the video shoot and the morbid details behind it, in the Melody Maker archives - reprinted a couple of years ago in one of the History Of Rock magazines).
Oh wow thank you for sharing 😊
Awesome comment.
I first learned about this song from the movie “perks of being a wallflower” Emma Watson’s character; I’ve the song ever since 🫶🏼
Never seen it. Didn't know that movie has his song
Yass! Such a great track. No one really knows what it's about (although Liz was quoted as saying she was often inspired by imagery described in various books), but the lyrics have been hilariously butchered on all the lyrics sites. "Ruby suns and ruddy cups, rows of pearly dewdrops' drops" was misheard as "We'll be sold when Roddy comes, comes for pearly dewdrops drops". One thing I know for sure is that this song is NOT about a pimp named Roddy. 🤣🤣
😂😂 I didn't know that. Thank you for sharing and watching

I appreciate your first reaction and take on this song.
Thank you so much for your kind words and taking the time to watch my reaction
Love it! Her voice, just the most unique. The voice of god was a great description for Liz.
Love it 😊
You should react to Love's Easy Tears by Cocteau Twins next.
Thank you
I love the Cocteau Twins. Fantastic song.
Yes I agree
Pink Orange and Red needs a reaction
Thank you for the recommendation
You are very welcome
Sorry Pink Orange Red.
I have a recommendation for a future reaction: Garmarna - Euchari (Garmarna are a Swedish folk-rock band which is not so obvious from the Euchari tune) - have a great day btw
Thank you 😊
I believe its a chocolate chip cookie recipe sung in Gaelic.
That's awesome
@@gabe.absolute Lol! Its a great song !
@@gabe.absolute The song is presumably about Liz walking down the street in the early morning and seeing the dew on a spider web, marveling at its beauty and what God has created.
You have an excellent ear for music Gabe. Your reactions are similar to mine, every time I hear that track. Keep it up!
😮 thank you so much for all your kind words and for taking the time to watch my reaction
@@gabe.absolute your reaction to Liz was similar to mine..the first time I heard her voice was this song and I was almost in tears by the end of the song...great reaction to this song.
The blends of instrumentals and vocals they make (who cares about the meaning of lyrics?!) are sublime! Great reaction, thank you.
Couldn't agree more! Also, thank you so much for your kind words.
