My god the attention to detail with the Clickers is so good. The way they move, behave, react it's all there perfectly captured.
I read somewhere that they used the same motion capture actors from the games to play the infected in the show.
@@briansadler5225 Yes they did use the same actors from the game. I believe they provided the voices as well or something. I saw the report via IGN.
HI I JUST FARTED 🤣🤣🤣
@@mickiethompson4285 I laughed as well. Ellie is just great.
Well they kinda have too its an important part of the game lol
I love how up-front they are being about staying true to the game while also being completely open about the changes. You can tell they were careful with the changes they made as to not ruin the experience for game fans.
As someone who never played the games I HATE it, but it makes sense.
@@judbaker5752 what
@@judbaker5752 boohoo
@@isabelle5089 other people can have differing opinions, sweetheart.
@@LordKamos777 I think the show works fine as is (without all the disclaimers of why they changed certain things).
“We found some actors that were fans of the game.”
You could tell the way they were moving, they nailed their movements 100%.
Sam and Olivier knew what to do!
The way they adapted spores into mycelium that can communicate through an underground network of tendrils was brilliant, because it's ACTUALLY REAL. Mycelium can actually do that.
The one problem is that if the system is that easily triggered, it should be constantly getting triggered by birds or animals or wind or something and hordes would be running around everywhere.
Yes, but mycelium is not cordyceps. They’ve both taken millions of years to acquire these separate adaptations.
This is the issue with anything like this - the creators just seize on an idea and then go mad with it.
@@violator7964 cordyceps do have mycelium though. regardless, science nerds are a very small part of the population. It’s okay to not have to appease them in everything.
I think it is what inspired Avatar's Eywa
@@violator7964 Wait till this guy hears that cordyceps don't actually turn humans into zombies irl
Second episode was crazy. Neil’s direction was perfect, the atmosphere, the set design, the clickers were freaking terrifying, the hive mind concept used in the capitol building was innovative and well executed. All around incredible work shown in this episode and can’t wait to see Bill and Frank, and hopefully Ellie’s banter with Bill 😂
You mean Ronald Ulysses Swanson.
@@Malumbrus *excited Andy's face*
The clickers look awesome and really ugly
I've heard some people say that it was a small step down from the first episode. Specifically, the show became more akin to the walking dead in episode 2. Maybe the writing is to blame.
David Gaffe who gave the first episode 9/10, just gave this episode 7/10
Anyway, I myself didn't watch any episode, and to me the show overall looks fine.
Ellie and Joel even crouches in the same way
If every episode leaves me out of breath like this one did, this will be the best show ever.
@BlackholeTtson452 is the Chosen worth to watch?
@@harukananase9568 yes

Yea this show succeeds and becomes a masterpiece
@@blackholettson4522 TSK really👍🏾🙄😒😌
The actors who are in for a brief period in the show have left a solid mark with their performances.
The first two episodes of The last of us are fantastic. The cinematography is brutal in this first two episodes , the scope of the show is really good . Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey gives great acting . Anna Torv who plays Tess shined in this first two episodes . It was a phenomenal performance 👏👏👏 .
Anna Torv is really good. I hope they make a third season on Mindhunter. :(
I loved her in Fringe
This is everything I’ve ever wanted from a show
HI I LITERALLY JUST FARTED 🤣🤣🤣
@@mickiethompson4285 could you have done it figuratively?

Yea unlike the other game adaptations this is one they did right without upsetting people I mean some people are mad but it's because they don't know nothing about movies how there supposed to be done

The idea of the Infected being connected and alerting each other through a fungal network is an interesting addition. I remember in the level "Bill's Town" there have been one or more instances where Joel, Ellie, and Bill would arrive in a seemingly empty and safe street only to get suddenly ambushed by a horde of Runners from out of nowhere. The introduction of a fungal network would reinforce the idea that there is no place safe from the Infected for Joel and Ellie.
Playing remake recently, it's never sudden. There's always something like a loud sound attracting the infected and clickers.
Anna Torv's performance was so damn good! I was very sad to see her character die. I hope they have her in flashbacks over the season because hiring such a talented actress for just 2 episodes feels very underutilized.
The clickers were on point! The dialogue with Tess saying our luck was bound to run out was on point too. Love it so far.
That dialogue with Tess was almost exactly the same as in the game too, like word by word
The set design for this show is mental. Something horrifically beautiful about rubble, collapsed buildings and overwgrowth is so aesthetically pleasing.
check out the video game nier automata, same thing
@@kar12894 already played it through. Beautiful OST still brings a tear to my eye.
it looks fake
@@juleswinnfield1246 get yourself a better screen to watch it on i guess cuz it looked perfectly fine to me and everyone ive seen
My god it felt exactly like the game , esp the atmosphere.
Anna Torv is an Incredible actress, i will always watch anything she does.
You got the clickers very right! People who never played the game were "Ellie", and gamers were "Joel and Tess". 😅 I might have stopped breathing.
They looked so real! 👍👍👍👏
I don’t think any of the main actors played the game. When they mentioned gamers I’m pretty certain they were talking about actors playing the clickers
@@ca20mn What I'm saying is that people who did not play the game were as afraid as Ellie, and people who already played the game were also scared, but like Joel and Tess.
@@ca20mn he didn’t refer to the actors, he meant joel and tess as characters

Kudos to Anna Torv, she was just amazing.

Love Anna Torv from Fringe. With Mindhunters and now Last of Us, Glad to see she is getting the recognition she deserves.
She’s great in all three!
She gon’
The best actress i saw in sfi series 😍
I loved the Tess death scene change gave me so much more anxiety than the game did, when your getting shot by a dozen soldiers at least it’s a guarantee for a quick death. As soon as I saw the lighter not going on I shat myself because as a fan of the walking dead I hate seeing our favorite characters going out like that so they did a great job leaving that on edge
Damn, Anna Torv is so good. I was a big fan of Fringe. Hope to see her again in another show.
After the first two episodes, I love how the story is expanded seamlessly so that those who completely the game have some new things to look out for. This is how perfectly this adaptation is going so far. Masterclass from the show runners!👏🏽👏🏽
Watching this show feels like playing the game for the first time again.
I'm playing the game at the same timw and keeping up with the show and it's trippy af
@@thehoopman88 I am doing that too!
This episode blew the first episode out of the water. Oh my god this show is so gorgeous. Maybe the prettiest HBO Max show in existence right now, the quality is off the charts.
Looks like it was true that the first episode was actually the slowest, due to them “setting the table” for the characters and world, so to speak, but now that that’s over, we kick into full gear.
They did an incredible job on this show, I’m beyond impressed as a fan of the series.
I personally enjoyed the first episode a little more but we're still just getting started. I still can't wait for these coming weeks and episodes.
@@beartrap3400 I loved the first too but I guess I just got really hyped with the reveal of the Clickers in the second episode. They’re just as creepy as they are in the games and I love it
@@beartrap3400 yeah because the first episode was the introduction, but now it’s only going to get better from here😂
You enjoy the visual vomit that is overuse of cgi?
@@LiterallyGod Yes. If you don’t like it then don’t watch.
Anna Torv is only for a short role but so impactful, can't wait for mindhunter s3, if it really gonna happen.
Netflix cancelled it unfortunately.
sometimes i wished i hadnt played the games because i wouldve shat myself seeing the clickers on the show. they nailed it 1000%
Episode 2 was amazing! Other adaptations fail when they change things but this show changes things in an amazing way!
Exactly thank you for saying that now please pray that this show succeeds
We're hopefully going to be seeing a lot more of Anna Torv in other roles through the years. So impressed with her. Superb actress
They might have changed the scene on how Tess dies and how the fungus is Vs the game, but that honestly doesn’t bug me one bit. They still captured the feel of everything.
This episode was short but sweet. Hats off to Neil. Very tense and loved how they were able to make the Clickers more unsettling than they already were 💯
Why you posting this on every channel?? 🤣
Wasn’t short at all
It was an hour long lol
the horror is so well done in this show it cannot be overstated, its beautiful how its translated to a new artform as well as being arguably better in certain ways, terrific job HBO!
Yeah the Addler’s house scenes in particular come to mind when thinking of horror. Extremely unsettling
@@brentloy131for sure man, something about the parasites growing out of the mouth seems so plausible and real to me that it messes me up lol
That Tess scene was perfection. Anna Torv is amazing.
That opening was absolutely amazing.
I played both games many times and I am OBSESSED with the show so far. They’re killing it. The clickers looked PERFECT.
if you truly loved both games you should not like this show.
@@juleswinnfield1246 it’s a very faithful adaptation
Neil Druckmann being part of this is the key to it being a success.
i love how the music has random cluttering sounds so u can’t tell if it’s just ambience or if there’s smth actually there
And I think Joel opened a door in the hotel and it made a creepy clicking noise too!
It was a nice touch for them to add that intro scene detailing how the fungus spread. Some people might take offence to it because it strips the narrative of any mystique but I think it grounded the story in a way that made it feel more tangible. I hope they add more pre-outbreak scenes because I always find it interesting to see society crumble before we eventually get to the post-apocalypse parts.
The attention to detail on this show is incredible!!! Best video game to TV/Movie adaptation EVER!!!!!
HI I LITERALLY JUST FARTED 🤣🤣🤣
Just wanna say, THANK YOU HBO for casting Anna Torv as Tess. I jumped off my chair when I first saw her even with that beaten and battered face. Agent Duhman icy stare is imprinted in my Brain for eternity. No matter how you disfigure her face, Anna Torv can still have an effect on us.
What I like about the change from spores is that now even wide open spaces can be super dangerous if there is active cordyceps present. The spores in the game were only an issue in cramped, closed environments. With the tendrils that's still the case. They could have huge fungal networks running in tunnels and indoors that you can't even touch without alerting a horde. But now that also translates to places that you'd think you were safe in the games. So dope.
The clickers were portrayed PERFECTLY, I’m so happy!
This show is a must watch, So much attention to detail shown
The cinematography in this episode was brilliant, knocked it out of the park once again!
That episode was magic and beautiful😎
I felt like grabbing my PlayStation controller for a second lol.
Anna Torv, ladies and gentlemen! What a performance.
I love that if they step on the fungus or whatever it alerts all the clickers near by. But…that’s kiss tho 🤢🤣
Best adaptation i've seen so far imo, the attention to detail is just amazing, masterpiece.
Torv's perfomance amazed me since her first scene in Ep. 1. I've only seen her before in Mindhunters (didn't watch Fringe), and even though she was great there, this is another whole level of range and subtlety all in the same short-lived package. What a great team behind this, it's wonderful to see both Druckmann's and Mazin's styles present distinctively (Mazin's "Chernobylesque" cold open + Druckmann's verbatim take on his game"), yet mesh so perfectly for a complete episode.
The best part is the back packs and small nods to the game
Joel reloading was amazing
The lighting the shadows, everything is perfect
the sound -- the movement -- the attention to detail on the clickers -- 1,000% nailed
I think the clickers in the game are more then scary enough. But they where even more scary here. They did an amazing job.
Whoever they hired as the fungi expert for this series did a great job, as well as the makeup artists, set designers and the people who made the opening credits.
The whole fungi aesthetic adds a unique look to the show that sets it apart from the typical zombie TV show or movie.
I am very impressed. This just goes to show that while budget definitely matters in making a good show, it’s the heart and passion behind it that makes it great
Not only did you get the people who played the game to go "That's it!" but you also got them to go "Omg!"
They absolutely 100% nailed the look, sound and movement of the Clickers! Whoever designed them for the video game must be feeling so proud that it exists in "real life" now.
They used basically the same designs... the motion capture actors and the voice actors from the games that's why 😃
they used same actors for clickers
10/10 scene scared me as much as finding the key card CANT wait for the third episode
‘Spores go everywhere.’
Yes. That’s kind of the point.
Absolutely amazing episode. The way they're subverting expectations and giving more depth to the story and characters is brilliant.
Subverting the expectation that it was going to be entertaining and not dark cgi nonsense, which it is
@@LiterallyGod are you ok?

Lol I started off a bit nervous about how the Clickers would look, move & behave on HBO's television adaptation but tonight I was not disappointed
I only we wish we could've had another episode or two with Tess. Anna Torv did an incredible job.
Extremely pleased they addressed the spore/ tendril switch, attention to word building
This episode was so brilliant, so beautiful. This show is something special man. This is all I wanted and more.
We love Neil and this episode, was perfect! The show is perfect! Thanks hbo and Neil!
Now this is how you make a game adaptation. Take notes, Netflix.
Im just totally amazed by every opening scene on every episode. It's how the scene installs fear into me, there's not a lot of movie which can do that.
Every episode has one or more of those scenes those are engraved in our hearts since the first time we played the game. What a masterpiece HBO and ND have created :')
awesome chapter, but that kiss was absolutely UNNECESARY.
Amazing. Hosting a creator care about the source material (because its worth it) AND improving it for a TV audience feels like a basic idea, but it's so refreshing
Anyone notice how the part where Joel is loading his revolver is so damn on point with the 2011 E3 trailer reveal of The Last of Us?
Man from the day Naughty Dog announced a totally new IP separate from Uncharted to this being in the show is such a trip!
Not gonna lie, those clickers made me hungry! Chicken of the woods, yum!
Gower and his team KILLED IT with the prosthetics!! This dude is an icon.
Did anyone else notice the bloater model in the background at 0:40 and 0:29?
I love that THE GAME is the protagonist of this whole project!
I don’t know how, but they make these hour and twenty minute episodes feel like 40 minutes! I crave more!!!
Episode 2 was only about 50 minutes.. so that's probably why it felt so short ;)

this show has made me realize that this is pretty much the only good videogame adaptation into film or tv. never knew we could get something this well thought out and well executed. so excited for the rest of the season!
Definitely brought new elements from the game and now the thought of the dangers that they face in the show makes it so much more terrifying and some even disturbing. 😳
They nailed The use off practical effects in this series
Exited for the full season
Great job team...I can't help rewatching it again for the 5th time today in a row now.

This is absolutely brilliant so far. Loving it
These changes makes soo much sense, yet still true to the game. This show is a masterpiece
This show is so well done and has so many details that the AR that Joel uses in the episode is the same from the game bravo!!!
The production/set design is unbelievable. Boston in ruins looked so well done!
I believe, many other studio would fail this series but HBO shows that they really put a lot of work on this project.
Netflix and amazon would have ruined it in 1 episode lol
@@thehoopman88 nah even hbo fked some things like making ellie asian and sarah black lol but netflix would prob make joel trans and ellie gay at 14 so yeah.

Watched the first 2 episodes, and it is perfect!
Can confirm, they got clickers 100% right
The clickers we’re done so much better than I could’ve ever hoped for. An amazing representation of the show, with such fine characteristics and detail. Amazing job!
Just brilliant! Played the game so many times and to see it come to life. Few extra additions but adds to how well it has been done. Bravo!
Fun fact: even though episode 2’s cold open says Jakarta, Indonesia, the license plate shown on the traffic scene was actually Bali, Indonesia. Jakarta is “B” whereas the scene if you pause it showed “DK” which is license plate for every vehicle registered in Bali. And in that scene you can also see a street sign that shows the direction to Kuta Square, a shopping boulevard in Bali.
The last scene with Tess was absolutely terrifying yet so amazing
its a literal torture that we have to wait another week before experiencing more of this masterpiece
After I compared the look of the clickers from the show and the game, I was shocked. They are nearly identical. I'm so glad that Craig wants to keep the show true to the game.
i love SO MUCH the change of fedra not chasing the characters, instead just being infected people. the change of how the clickers operates from the game is so good and so terrifying.
i also love tess's(?) death! i didn't really felt her death in the game, but the fact we see her dying and until her last moments conscious is so goooooddd ugh craig and neil are just BEASTS working together!!
Truly Amazing so far, guys!
Total respect!!! This is what it looks like when the creators RESPECT the source material and the fans!! 100%!!
AWESOME!!! So far you guys are killing it! Got platinum trophy on both games and I'm loving the show so far! No last of us podcast tonight though?
This attitude, this direction, and this artistry is what ANY video game adaptation needs.
Thanks put jakarta inside the spectacular show !
So happy that they explained the logic of changing the spores. Great decision.
