Absolutely, and he’s exactly right. No one cares if you have a couple of 5-0’s when you win the league and it can absolutely be put down as a freak result but this can’t because what’s been shown is that this UTD Team are not anywhere near the standard of teams like Liverpool or City when they play well. There’s actually nothing wrong with that, I just don’t know why Gary can’t admit it.

Ironic that Souness, backed up by the bias in the studio, said it wasn't a freak result, and yet at 2:34 there's a graphic showing just how rare that result is. I don't support either team, but Gary is right, it is a complete freak result. The problem is that the Liverpool pundits got triggered that phrase, and misunderstood the point Gary was trying to make: that it's incredibly rare to get a 7-0 either way in that fixture, and that Man Utd basically gave up after 4 goals. Pretty unprofessional punditry from the Liverpool side, who were too busy gloating and talking over Neville to grasp his point.

As a United fan, the only game that reminded me of was when we beat Arsenal 8-2 back in 2011. Liverpool scored from virtually every chance they created in the same way we did that day. Make no mistake, Liverpool produced some excellent attacking play yesterday, but it takes two to tango and United weren't up to it.
Difference was the United team that won 8-2 was actually very good team, this liverpool team is battling for Europe right now

Last break down the goals, 1st goal was well played, 2nd goal there was an element of luck with the rickshaws, the 3rd goal was well played, the 4th goal was lucky the way the ball dropped to Salah. After that point the players then dropped their heads, and the team became weak. The 2nd goal at the beginning of 2nd half derailed our attempts to get back in the game, and the 4th goal was a sucker punch, that then opened the floodgates. The better team won today, I do somewhat agree United was the better team in the first half, but the signs were there, that we are open at the back.
