People misunderstanding his point, he’s not saying that Haaland is bad or that City are bad, he’s just saying that he could be doing EVEN better if he was playing in a team that is focused on playing on the counter. I actually don’t disagree with him, Haaland would probably score more goals at a team that is more counter-attacking, maybe not in the Prem. He actually makes a good point imo. We’re not seeing him at his full potential because of the play style that Guardiola prefers, which isn’t the fault of Pep or Haaland
Nearly all elite teams face opponents that sit deep most weeks
City is the only team that will create the most chances for him in the Epl. Haaland is actually not the best when it comes to all round play but he is a goal machine and so City is honestly the best place to be ...imagine him at spurs which is a counter attacking team, wouldn't be a better player
@@NsemPii23 he would definitely score more goals at spurs
Then why is Kane not out scoring him
Imagine Haaland in Real Madrid.
I'm a United fan and i could feel the frustration Haaland had today, the amount of times Silva and Grealish passed sideways when he was making good runs and pointing would do me in!!
Go back and look at his home debut. Foden greedily tried to score instead of playing Haaland in. The amount of runs he makes and does not receive the ball is quite comical.
@@mediacenterman8583 that's another thing, Haaland said it several times that Foden hardly ever passes to him
Reminds me of bale at madrid, making runs and no one looking up to find him
what does you being an utd fan have to do with your comment?
Not only today, he has been frustrated several times
“You bought a Ferrari but drove it like a Fiat.” - Zlatan on Pep
literally the situation at man city
Losing Sterling was actually a big problem for them because he always ran in behind when he played out wide. Now both wingers, Mahrez and Grealish, want ball to feet and play at a slower tempo. They also don't have overlapping fullbacks anymore to correct that. Haaland has shown that with the service, he is a top goalscorer.
Is it just me or haaland never scored a out of the box goal since joining city, as a striker he’s not take chances maybe I’m wrong
And also giving Gabriel Jesus was also a mistake, Manchester City seemed more unpredictable because the danger came from several players. This year everything is centralized on Erling Haaland.
@@militaryjunkie6207 Due to the way City plays he has to sit on the opponent box most of the time when the ball's passed to him.
City management got bored with putting the same round peg in a round hole, let Sterling go and brought in Haaland and they're paying for it. That square peg they have now is never going to fit correctly.
@@militaryjunkie6207 he did against villa
The point is Haaland was meant to add something to city without taking something away. The fact they have the same amount of goals means they haven’t progressed, they’ve just stagnated
You're assuming they weren't already at a ceiling.
You could argue its a backwards step. Last season they scored those goals from all positions. If Haaland has an off day then the goals aren't coming as freely from the rest of the team
@@joshuataylor3550 interesting take to be fair
Haaland might aswell have had a red card the whole game. I see him make runs alot all season where the wide and central players end up cutting back and sending the ball back to ederson to start over
@@BZ2YYZ from all positions??
Where are those players??
Sterling and Jesus both sold
Wait till city add new wide players and come back to this next season
Yes he's scored a bucket load of goals but we can all see he picked the wrong club. How often do they eexploit his pace and hit him with through balls? He's big, tall and fast but they might as well have stayed with Jesus because they are wasting Haaland's full game because City takes 3-5 business days to enter the opponent's box. jamie is 100% right here.
3 - 5 business days 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Which shipping company did you dirty?
One of the most dumb things I have ever read, it’s obvious Jesus was being wasted in city and simply wasn’t working, 6 seasons and 58 goals, look at Haaland half a season and 25 goals. Should be pretty obvious from stats alone that for city Haaland is much better. Plus Haaland can prove himself in the “best” league and scoring 25 goals in half a season, how is he not winning in life. It’s like saying Kane choose the wrong club despite scoring 200+ goals for Tottenham.
@@pubg-blsy3352 Kane did pick the wrong team though
Couldn’t agree more. Only need to go watch a few of his Bundesliga goals and see the difference compared to City
Anti city fannnnnnn lmaoooooo
I came here back to laugh at Jamie after Haaland just won the Golden boot yesterday 😂😂😂
Jamie is spot on. We are still playing like we don’t have a new piece to the system when in fact we have the biggest piece but we’re not giving him the best game plan.
My word, this nonsense hasn’t aged very well 😂
Strangely, to an extent I agree with Jamie. You can’t take anything away from Haaland, the number of goals he’s scored already is insane. But when he makes a run, no player in the City team apart from KDB looks for him. Working from scraps. They need to get the ball into him more with his size and strength.
I think if Pep loses the league and champions league this year, I would not be surprised that he will try one last dance with Lionel Messi. Messi did not sign a new contract with PSG. I think Messi would make those passes all day every game. I don't see another top club where Messi would play other than City. And all they have to pay is his wages and no transfer fee
@@xaganthesupreme3378 Messi is actually extending with PSG
Messi seems to have it good at PSG, so don’t see him moving to City (don’t know anything about his contract position). I can see Haaland moving on from frustration.
hes a net negative to the team
Lukaku had no excuses but halland is even protected when he gets 5 touches whole 90 mins ,lol Englisj Media should stop this habit ,spurs had to score 4 goals minimum in that match
Back in 2012/13 Alex Ferguson told United players that if they can’t feed RVP, they’re not gonna play. Pep needs to tell his players exactly like that, Haaland made many runs tonight but no one could pick him out
but that's not what Pep does tho...He has been doing this possession holding game/tiki taka sort of football style for decades now and have succeeded wherever he went. He is not going to change footballing tactics because of him...United have always been the type of team that plays more counter attacking team. That is why Players like Zlatan failed to make it to the team under Pep as well. Even if they try to change the way they play somehow different Pep will never change his philosophy for Haaland.
@@limi. now he will have to change or stop buying strikers he always has a problem with no nines it's about time he only play with false nines if he doesn't want to change his style.
Agree.
RVP has more repertoire than Haland. Links up better, dribbles better, passes better.. Haland belongs to the old form of traditional strikers that's going extinct. Haland needs to improve... A team built on the philosophy of just crosses and counterattack don't dominate in the long-term. I believe Pep got Haland because he thought Haland could offer him more in his system. City can't change their identity for Haland. If I were Pep, I'd be looking to get Osimhen and sell Haaland to the highest bidder.
Dead right. I'm a Liverpool fan. In the Charity Shield, Harland was making all the right runs and City weren't passing to him. I kept thinking, 'if he'd been in a Liverpool shirt, he'd have had a hattrick by half time.'
Whoever decided to sign Harland is an idiot. He's the right player at the wrong club. If he'd signed for Liverpool, Utd or Arsenal, he'd have scored twice as many as he has.
As a Dortmund fan, I think the debate is quite interesting as it is exactly the same as during the last few months of Haaland in the Bundesliga. The main strategy of most BuLi teams against Bayern and Dortmund in particular is to just defend and wait for counter attacks, leaving little room for Haaland to use his pace and finishing. When they additionally caught on to how good Haaland is, there were always two or three players around him so he didn't actually score that much during his last half-season in Germany. There were actually commentators who said the exact same thing as Jamie Carragher: it's not Haaland's fault but he makes teams play worse. He is simply so good that ManCity is now up against a defence of sitting ducks guarding their eggs which frustrates the team (not to mention Haaland himself) and the frustration leads to a downward spiral. Dortmund is only now starting to recover from it.
This is a really interesting comment, thanks!
Very fascinating comment. Be interested to see what happens for the remainder of the season.
I can see why dortmund got rid of him now 😀
Nice comment though!
Yeah but there are multiple times when the opposition isn’t deep, Haaland makes a run behind the defenders and Man City just pass sideways cos they somehow don’t see him making the run
Great observation, fan knows his stuff!
Brilliant take on the situation. 100% agree. There's been a few games now this season where Halaand is just not getting any service after making x runs because City decide to play the ball back. If you're 1 down and games coming to a close and you have Halaand, what are you doing going back to your defence or goalkeeper.
So frustrating being a football fan, watch that every game with Chelsea just no attacking threat
as a city fan, carra and graeme are both bang on. micah needs to be more honest.

Carra is making a lot of sense tho, Pep limits his players abilities trying to control every single players every move, he scored alot of goals alright but he’s not able to show he’s talent properly with Pep as his coach, that’s why him and Aguero have not always seen eye to eye
I know that Grealish is improving, but I loved watching him when he was at Villa running directly at goal from deep and taking on players. Proper squandered his ability at City
@@al_5655 imo I think it's more that when grealish was at villa teams wouldn't defend as deep against them, whereas at city the opposition's defense is usually much more compact and deep so it's often going to be harder to run at goal because there is less space and opportunity
That's why him and "any strikers" have not always seen eye to eye.
@@al_5655 squandered his ability but improved???
Carra and souness are both on point , no blame just an assessment of the facts . Ian Rush going to Italy , back at Liverpool he was back on fire . Playstyle .
"He may have actually picked the wrong club." Carragher 2023
I think he makes a valid point. Haaland has been amazing but he has to compromise his pace since City don't play counter-attacking football
@Ashley Mabunda He showcased his counter attacking pace with Dortmund more in the bundesliga but has a better goal to game ratio at City in the Premier League. How can saying Haaland may have chosen the wrong club be a valid point then, in all honesty? Let's face reality - goals are what count for a striker.
@@Ashley_MG BS,he doesnt need pace with the way city play and hes a giant.why run around when he doesnt need to?
Absolute pinpoint accuracy right there from Carragher. Because I think Harland has made Man City more depend on him which centralizes their style of play where as before it was run from midfield and wingers getting into spaces which created such a force.
Jamie makes a good point. Despite the goals if you ask Haaland honestly, he'd probably say he's not enjoying his football
Carra is getting on something here . He was a force to be reckoned with at Dortmund . He ran at a blistering pace and with all that physicality it was a nightmare for Bundesliga defenses . At city he just lingers around the box waring for tap ins , mostly . Haaland at a counter attacking club would be a sight to behold . Anyways some howlers
from pep recently with cancelo leaving and today not starting with de bruyne .
Bro if you play at a top club, you’re gonna have to deal with low blocks. If he was at United or Arsenal he’d go through the same issues. Luckily at City however, he can rack up his goal tally against Wolves and Nottingham with De Bruyne to make his stats look good.
City cant play a counter attacking game when they always have the ball
The problem with City in my opinion is that they've slowed their game down. They've become more predictable. The rotation between the 5 front positions is not there anymore. City players all want the ball at their feet, taking four or five touches before releasing it. This makes them possibly more easy to defend against. They still have some of the most incredible and creative players in the league, but since the team is now playing solely around Haaland, tight marking (as seen by Romero yesterday) essentially nullifies their entire operation.
They are farrr too limited I remember how the front 3 could all interchange, aguero could drop deep or go wide sterling could tuck in the middle or sterling and sane could swap wings it was a nightmare for teams now look mahrez can’t play anywhere but the right, grealish can’t play anywhere but the left non of them attack their man or can play false 9 and haaland has to stay thru the middle it’s wayyy too static and predictable.
Why does Micah start eating his face when he wants to talk?
The problem is with counter attacks because city play a very high line all the time with a sweeper keeper like they play attacking football all the time so defensively they’re not always the best
As a city fan, I couldn't agree more. Haaland is not used fully to the powers he is capable of. A fast-paced winger is deeply missed. And many times i myself have thought, 'give the ball early to him so he can do his thing'
Micah completely missed the point lol. Everyone can see haaland is being held back
He has to play devils advocate tho. Makes for good TV
@@josevanreyes Naa, he just really doesn't like any criticism of City.

This reminds me of when Guardiola bought Ibrahimovic at Barcelona and it just didn't work out for him there. Not anybody's fault, but sometimes players just don't get the best out of themselves in certain systems. Mad to think what Haaland could score at a team that wasn't all about slow possession football, even though he already has scored so many.
Well to be fair Pep and Zlatan also were both naive to think they weren't going to have massive personality clashes.
That was different they wanted to add some physic to that barca team as average height was 5.9
Current man United could have been a better place for him cos they play fast pace.
Zlatan was massively overrated
Ironically, a prime Zlatan would be incredible at Man City, Zlatan was an incredible all round footballer, unfortunately for him, Guardiola figured out Messi could play as a False 9, and False 9 Messi could score 91 goals in a calendar year, so he waved bye-bye to Mr Ibrahimovic. Haaland biggest problem, is his lack of all round footballing ability.
City have completely changed their playstyle to accomodate Haaland and yeah he bangs in goals for fun against the lesser sides but against the bigger, more organised sides he and the team struggle to break teams down. The focus is solely on Haaland, and the rest of the team has had to fit around that.
True, he offers nothing of the ball and just makes runs so if you stop the supply or man mark him he’s out of the game
In the Man United game we didn't even man mark Haaland, we marked KdB which meant close to zero service for Haaland. We cut off his supply so essentially he was just there
5 g/a against third place and scored against 4th and 5th and scored 2 against 6th
No. De Bruyne, Foden, Gundogan, Grealish, Silva is out of form or just passed it. No number 9 can prevent that.
Hes their only outlet, so all you have to do is assign 2 to man mark him.
The same pundits who claimed that Martinez was too small for a CB in the PL, yet when a 6'5" striker cant score its everyone else''s fault.
That's the problem with City. There's always tryin' to walk it in.
Yep they just pass it never cross it so that's why Alvarez n haaland are not getting goal during big games

What was Wenger thinking sending Walcott on that early?
What was pep thinking bringing de bruyne on so early.🤣
But I'm sure Grealish "still needs time to adapt".
Grealish was the only Man City player I saw today lol

Over rated.
He was Man City’s best player by a mile today
Which time, he played a lot of games and still can not provide pass on time, always wrong decision 😔😔
Jamie makes a point here. At Dortmund Haaland and Sancho were lethal on the counter together. How many break away goals did he score running from his own half. Yes he's brilliant at scoring goals but he ghosts too much in a possession based system
I fully understand what Jamie is saying and I can relate to it. He would be more useful in a team that is fast paced counter attacking football. But when a team knows your strengths and they formate their team to purposely disrupt Haaland defensively. It doesn’t really matter which team you play for. They will get the numbers back.

And with weight I mean in the above video he couldn't even close all the buttons on his shirt xD
I agree with Jamie. This possession based football jusy doesn't suit Haaland. He is that good that he will still get 30/40 goals even though we are not seeing him at his absolute best. If Haaland was at A Man United for instance, they was they play now under Ten Hag, Haaland would be the Focal point and be involved nearly every attack. United would get the ball into him withing 10 seconds every transition.

Let's be honest, Pep has rarely had success with a traditional striker. Both City and Liverpool are familiar with a small false nine like striker, now they both have to adapt to a traditional forward who isn't known for link up play unlike what they had previous
Erm... Aguero? Lewandowski? David Villa?
@Oliver Boisen knew this was coming. Lewa is really the only out and out striker Pep's been successful with, both Aguero and Villa played more similar to a false 9, especially under Pep - maybe Villa blurs the lines a little more

The problem being Man City's possession game isn't producing as many chances as before and even with the high possession City look vulnerable at the back so the possession isn't helping them as much defensively either.
I personally think City need to play more direct in behind balls to Haaland when recovering the ball off the other team rather than always doing slow build up, because the low block teams get into is normally after City hold possession for awhile.

I hope this is a lesson to all those fans claiming Halaand was gonna get 40-50 goals this season, forgetting this is the Premier League 🙄
How many trophies did Haaland pick up 🤣🤣🤣
It's interesting because they both seemingly play in each others clubs style. Haaland might be more suited to the style of Spurs with the Counter attack using the pace and strength to get in behind and capitalise on 1v1's 2v2's and 3v3's in a completely different way. On the other hand Spurs sit deep and counter attack wanting their 9 to stay far up top and either break away or hold up for the wingers to do that and utilise the pace they have in behind the back line while Kane might suit City's style of slow build up with a finely worked finish more. Kane doesn't press and isn't particularly quick but his passing range, shot power, vision and strength make him great at hold up play and bringing midfielders, fullbacks and wingers into the attack. I think Souness is right about the perfect goal. City get into positions that many other clubs would shoot from maybe 40 times a game but they figure they can go one further and do just that little bit more to make the goal. This would suit Kane more than Haaland.

Yes I do felt the same. Carra has a point though he could not convey it fully. If such analysis by football pundits reaches Pep's ears, he will become more stubborn and try to be more contrarian, which could lead to more worries and the collapse of City's dominance. If they don't win the CL or reach the CL final this year, it will put more pressure on Pep. We've already seen what Klopp and Liverpool are dealing with now, and the same could happen to City.
"it's impossible to see the full package because teams play deep against man city" exactly why Carra said he 'might' not be at the right club
They play deep because City has no intensity. Liverpool was an attacking and high-pressing team and they used to score on the counter for fun. Same for the Dortmund sides that Haaland played. City are instructed to not waste possessions so they don't even look at him whenever they recover the ball.
You can only counter attack teams that attack you. If you play for a top side, 90% of your games are against teams that sit back.

Their fullbacks have also been inconsistent defensively. There's also the disadvantage of losing depth in Jesus, Zinchenko and Sterling who's often one of their top 3 scorers every season. Haaland also makes them easier to defend against since he spends most of the game in the box.
Dias and Laporte aren't injured though I think pep just benched them since WC
I don’t see why akanji keeps getting the nod when Laporte is fit
@@sofus47 they're actually both unfit at the moment
Stones has been just as average
Seems to escape criticism. Keeps getting pushed to right back
The defence has been fine recently, aren't scoring enough goals in a lot of games
People forget city have scored lots in bulks and some games, are struggling to score 1
Ake is rubbish
no one mentions how game after game city dont produce chances. Like actual goal scoring chances. Even the games they won most of the time the opponents get to more chances than they do..
Has always been my issue with the Bundesliga. Players like Sancho, Werner, Andre Silva, Jovic, Kramaric, Havertz and others have looked so good in Bundesliga because of the style of football and the space in behind. The PL doesn't give that as often, especially to top teams who are usually up against a defence of sitting ducks guarding their eggs. Haaland is obviously still a top-class finisher, but he could be much more.
I don’t think it’s the space behind that isn’t available but it’s the way city plays they tend to pass the ball around and almost walk it into the post and haaland doesn’t fit that kind of system
@@zeckchi0148 A bit of both. The Bundesliga is no doubt a much quicker league than the Premier League in terms of transition play (Premier League fans think too highly of themselves in this regard). When we talk about end-to-end football, the Bundesliga embodies it.
At the same time, City have never played transition football, so Haaland in the Premier League, at Man City, compounds the issue of no space to work with.
The only upside is that Haaland is relatively young, and does have a coach that can help him improve his technical game, so maybe we see a better Haaland in a season or two under Pep.
The space is always there is you play the ball EARLY.
@@QuicknStraight In some scenarios, sure. But when City have 70% of the ball in most of their matches, the chances for that kind of oppotunity to play an early ball is quite low.
Son, gundagon, sane, de Bruyne and ect. Ur statement is wrong. He has not fit into the prem but has 20+ league goals already? I new when he signed to city it was not the right team for him. Personally I thought Liverpool would’ve of been perfect because of the way they play forward and aren’t afraid of all longball epsicslly with taa. It’s peps style that’s the problem same when he got zlatan and Henry had to put them out wide to get a false 9 in there but unfortunately haalaand can’t play winger so he’s stuck with him at number 9. Guarantee if they would’ve just stuck with Jesus they would be top.
It’s just that City players don’t look up to see Haaland run but KDB . He would be on 35 goals instead of 25 , if they were more direct team instead of passing back
That isn't how they play. They either need to totally reinvent his they play, carry on with his it's going and hope it gets better or drop Haarland for a few games and see if they look better without him.
This is 100% on the manager. They look so robotic once they reach the opponent's third. You can see them ignore their natural instinct to do as commanded because attack is largely a creative endeavour and Pep's awful football stifles that.
@@MarkWalmsley yeah they should just reinvent the way they play. It won't be hard either, I mean Leicester won the league playing direct, win the ball, play it in Vardy blasts free and smashes it in. City have better players than any of them (except Kante) and an absolute monster up from with Haaland. Just put him through it's frustrating to watch
@@MarkWalmsley Being a tad more direct doesn't hurt their style of play. The reason City are not really that impressive this season is because the opponent has already read them after 30 minutes and knows they won't adapt, even if they are losing.
Pep needs Messi asap lol! GOAT is free transfer end of this season
"It doesn't matter if it's better" - no, Micah, that's the ONLY thing that actually matters 😂.
I saw him making runs and no pass, I saw him waiting for a cross but instead the wingers played to the midfield! Its not his fault as much as some think! Every striker would get frustrated!
Think city needs to work out a way to get the best out of him every week. Having 25 goals already is incredible, but if they are coming in 2s or 3s in some games, but doing nothing in others, point's wise, it doesn't really make them any stronger, he's got bags of pace but they don't try enough early through balls, and he's great in the air but they don't really cross it....when they do he scores! When they build up slowly they carry him....aguero, for example, worked in both systems!
Bingo right on the money . Many people will just say 25 goals and not care about anything else it’s the same argument with ronaldo at united
Need proper wingers. Leao replacing grealish will make them much stronger
I would like to see the gunners take it, City will probably claw it back though.
Really good point about scoring loads at a time but not equalling more points. No KDB was massive today - Haaland literally had no service.
@@jammiiee city will win the league
Amazing how BOTH Man City and The Arsenal we're both held scoreless this weekend. You never know what's going to happen any given weekend.....
As a United fan watching City this season they seem to want to make the extra pass every time. They make space to cross the ball but for some reason they make another pass that’s not needed. Have to agree with Souness City are trying to walk in and score the perfect goal rather getting it to Haaland,he definitely isn’t the problem in my opinion.
Initial stats in city shows halaand is superb..with 2 or 3 games should not write off a player.every other games not all stickers can score. It's better not to scrutinise a team after 1 or 2 games.
The point is Haaland has speed and is great at fast counter attacks but man city's play is the short passes tiki taka Barcelona play, also the most consistent provider is de bruyne, so teams cut off the supply in the middle and haaland rarely touches the ball. That's also why mahrez is back because he can play with or without de bruyne but lately he hasn't been consistent
ah the zlatan problem guradiola had at barca. zlatan had legs when he was young and at barca, tiki taka suites slow letha strikers like harry kane, they should switch teams. win win
Spot on! Takes me back to the game at Old Trafford when EtH put Fred on KDB and effectively made City and Haaland toothless.
I completely agree with Jamie cos even I have said this
Man City have been a team who didn't need an all in all CF. They've won titles for years because they're a team who dominates possession and passes and all the players have been used to scoring from different areas of the pitch, not just seeking one man all the time and now that they've changed their style to trying to feed Haaland all the time, it has affected their play
I'm kinda happy tho
I support Arsenal so...😂😂
I feel like Pep is just changing the team too much. If they start their best players in their correct positions instead of him putting Bernardo Silva at CM and Alvarez as a 10 etc they would dominate.
Haaland will never get the same counter attacking goals that he got at dortmund ever again. From now on he’s going to be at a top team that dominates the ball, so those days are gone, except for when we see it in flashes. This happens to all great players btw. When you’re coming onto the scene playing for a worse team, you utilise some of your strengths, and then you have to evolve when teams start to target you and you play for teams with less space in the final third. Happened to Messi, ronaldo, etc and it will happen to him. Even look at mbappe who doesn’t score as many runaway goals as he used to, because people are aware of the threat more.
0:30 you can't fail to laugh at that statement. So bold😂😂
Jamie is right, I knew it was a bad fit when they signed him. That’s why Pep got Alvarez who is more similar to his ideal 9
I think Alvarez is more the future because Haaland will be off in a few years to Madrid/Barca. I think the lack of direct wingers is also worrying for City. They need to go for a winger who can run in behind like they had with Sane and Sterling.
Help us who signed Haaland ?
@@ANGELOFDARKificationMadrid ain’t signing him
no you didnt
That’s the difference between Dortmund and City because they have so much talent everyone is trying to get in on the goals. Whereas at Dortmund the team played to get the ball to Haaland so he could make those runs and score different tactics are being played.
0:30 that tiny little laugh after he says it🤣
Reminds of torres not doing well for spain. When spain kept on playing sideways passes
You have to strike a balance which I think city may well end up doing. As an Everton supporter, I remember we had a similar situation in 86 when we bought Gary Lineker, in the end he was virtually the only one banging in the goals and it became very one dimensional.
I think he will be useful more in the champions league where teams must attack to win a game if they go a goal down. In the league is only about sitting deep and trying to get a point against city
Totally agree with souness here, excellent point on moving the ball quicker.
I feel the same way as Carra, don’t get to see that blistering pace he has
from all the man city games ive watched it seems like the only one who seems to be aggressive with through balls and creative play making is debryune without debryune no one else is able enough to make those key passes which was extremely evident with the match today haaland is a player who is dominant when it comes to receiving the ball from crosses or through balls but without debryune there was a huge lack of those
De bruyne and gundogan. The rest of them just like to dribble and then pass it backwards
Souness at minute 3.50 is spot on. Its strange because Pep did the same thing at Barca with Zlatan...they didn't play to his strengths and he was deemed a failure and eventually bombed out after falling out with Pep.
Richards: "Its not about being better" 🤔
That's exactly what it's supposed to be about.
I know Im expected to say this as a Man Utd fan, but he would have been the perfect striker for Utd. With the counter attacks Utd produce and the pace they go at, if he had Rashford, Fernandes, Casemiro, Sancho and Antony all supplying him, he would have absolute bags of goals.
I can understand why he chose City, due to his fathers career and the fact City were winning everything, but Utd are more to his style of play. Basically he went to City for the money and prestige. At Utd, he could have been the main part of the rebuild, and be the star player for years to come.
You're saying this as if Haaland doesn't already have bags of goals for City. I would argue that the number of goals he has for City this season would have been pretty similar for any other team. It's not about the number of goals for Haaland; the problem is about a lack of consistent opportunities, especially against counterattacking teams.
Also you have to remember how dismal a season Man U had in 21/22. If Haaland went there it would have been slammed and criticised as the biggest joke of the century. Also they still had CR7; Haaland was never ever going to go there.
You got rashford mate. I'd take a prime rashi over haaland every day of the week
@@Christian3174 but both is better 👍
@@danielspigeons6570 I know he has a lot of goals already, what im saying is he would have even more at Utd due to their playing style.
I know Utd had a shocking season, and it was obvious he was never going to go there at that time, but things have changed, and I see him as the perfect striker for Utd. The way they play would suit him perfectly.
When City get punished for FFP, he'll be put of there, just like the rest of them.
This is reactionary, he joined the best team in the country, I don't know where else he was supposed to go.
Bayern. Literally perfect for him. Muller provides service as good as KDB, and the teams sit further forward that in the Prem.
Was Haaland even playing today
@@joshdawson5850 he went to the Premier league to develop and become a better player, he’s already ruined the Bundesliga.
Please widen your vocabulary and substitute the word ‘reactionary’. It is so over used and vapid.
@@joshdawson5850 he used to play for dortmund, theres no way he would join bayern considering the hate he would get from dortmund fans
This was Chelsea with Lukaku (before the interview) we'll see how city overcome it
A well thought through hypothesis by Jamie. The others didn't understand. Seems like he is on to something here.
I think the beauty of what pep created with city was this somewhere at any one time there could be 4 or 5 players in the pitch who could and do play as a striker and as attacking midfielders. This meant goals came from everywhere at any time but also it was fluid creative football. However now their whole gameplan is to get the ball to Haarland which has removed their brilliance.
Also there is a lot of unhappiness behind the scenes. Foden and pep have apparently fallen out. Cancelo has a major calling out and this causes ripples. Rodri was terrible tonight and that's likely to do with the Cancelo thing, city players looked like they had given in to the fact they had lost 10 minutes before the 90 was up. Plus they get for decisions in such a desperate way, it must feel like things are falling apart.
Ironically their best player of late is Grealish lmaooo
I think perhaps he is the one with the most to prove hence his performances. I think that's why Pep keeps starting him
Very well said about City's style of play. As for Foden, he should be starting every game, a guy of his talent, it's such a waste
City will win the league Pep geinus will prevail
It's simple for me. Haalands number suggest he has adapted to the team, but the team hasn't adapted to his ability. Haaland is a beast he'll make constant run in behinds, to the back post, to the front post without taking a breath even when teams sit deep but City are not threatening the defence with balls inside the box.
He is tap in merchant dude
Micah with the L here. Spoke from the heart, not the head.
Jamie is right, they aren't utilizing his skillset correctly. Asking him to poach goals within the system is fine, he's clearly capable, but you're only getting a snippet of what he could really accomplish. They gotta start feeding him the ball when he makes the intelligent runs off the CBs.
The subtle laugh 🤣🤣🤣
Huge contrast between Kane and Harland. Kane has a much more inclusive style in that he distributes the ball accurately and therefore contributes far more than just scoring goals. haaland needs service from the other team members but they don’t seem to provide it or read his runs. In that sense his game seems at odds with the style City seem to play. Agree entirely with Souness.
“He might have picked the wrong club, to bring out the best in him”
I normally dont agree with Carra but this i agree with
I like to think he picked City because of his dad & his agent backed it because of finance, either way they'll come good & I respect that, he's just adapting. He's still the best striker in world football easily. What Carra is insinuating is a 'pipe dream'.. I'd have loved him at Arsenal like he would at Liverpool but theres only a couple clubs owners in this league who could afford him unfortunately
I'd say it's less a case of Harland adapting to City and more a case of City needing to adapt to him.... Carra has a point in my humble opinion.
Making valid point isn't a pipedream I suggest you look up what pipedream means because I'm not sure you know what context to use it in..
@@craigcassidy6078 pipe-dream means a near impossibility, Carra stating he'd be better off in a different set up might be valid but considering his value and wages there's only a few clubs that would pay that so to me that's a near impossibility i.e pipe-dream... Before he signed for City every top club was after him but the wages and value meant it would be near impossible

The average IQ on the channel can freeze water.
liverpool already got nunez and man u, well just ask roy keane
@Random Simpsons Quotes watch a City game, look at how many runs he makes in behind that are ignored for a simple 4 yard pass.
Nobody is saying Haaland isn't a great player, they're saying they aren't using him to his full potential.
You're jocking right
@@randomsimpsonsquotes6033 or your stupid haaland has scored the goals but city had the same amount last season it’s just haaland js getting the goals but overall there style is worse and it’s clearly visible if he went to united or real or a team who can hit you on counters fast and provide a lot of through balls he would help that te more city prefer slow build up and making extra passes to pick out the right pass for goal
As always, Jamie makes a good point
Always?
No this is a rarity
I think its like the effect of a player whos got so much resting on him in the headlines yes he can perform but that pressure gets carried by the whole team and some of the team look like they would rather play round him
Carra makes a good point on the goals scored... you would think he would have come in and added aload of goals. He is just scoring the most for the team which were already able to score through other players collectively
Micah holding in his laugh........ 🤣
Imagine buying a striker like Haaland and not passing to him. 😅
it must be so frustrating for haaland
Same with Ibrahimovic at Barcelona.
Some pundits talk absolute rubbish
2:00 "get your hands of me" "your mama bought me this shirt, this is my favorite shirt"
I get what Jamie is trying to say. But I think the issue is with the likes of JG and co. Other than Marhez, who else is bagging for City in a regs. City let go of Stirling and Jesus last summer. Between them they would usually get 20-30 goals a season. You need that on top of what Haarland is bringing. But City just aren’t getting that.
totally the wrong club and I said it at the time, city play completely the wrong way for him. he makes so many movements and the ball never comes through to him. imagine him at man utd for example with Rashford and those direct quick balls and pacey attacks ... he'd be electrifying
What about bayern 😂😂
Very true. But i think pep is trying to make haaland play into his system first before utilizing his abilities. Dont forget he only came to city this season. A team which pep has built for years. Pep has used pace before with sterling and sane and we saw he knows haalands strengths in the west ham game. I think pep is trying to make him get used to possesion play then later he will start using his abilities. Give him time.
That's true them not playing to the best of his ability
