Roach, Rudd & Ide Fishing The Whip Cobble Acre Lakes - Part One
Although whip fishing in general is a simple fishing method it can still prove extremely effective! There are a few little extra's you can do to get the most out of this method. We visited Cobble Acre lakes to show you how... and what you can do...
Fishing 4m to hand and feeding heavily to give the fish confidence and to get them competing we put together a nice net of silvers. - Sport
Thanks very much! Glad you like this, and all our other vids! Hearing positive feedback makes us keen to carry on keep progressing with more and better video's! :-)
Hi Brian, we use something called a flick tip connector, this is usually glued (with araldite or something) to the end of your whip. If you ask your local tackle shop they should be able to help! :-)
I had 40 fish out of a little farm pond fishing a cheap £6 whip that I bought for messing about with! I had a 6oz perch, a 10oz Rudd and a 1lb Crucian Carp along with a whole load of small Rudd :)
Nice one Sam James glad you've been catching a few fish!! :-)
Hi Moto, glad you liked the video, the whip we were using is the Daiwa SR3 whip system. Lovely to use and perfect for the job! The key to feeding is little and often, get the fish competing against each other! :-)
Hi Lyness, thanks for the comment, glad you liked the video! The peg we were fishing was around 6ft deep, when feeding heavy like that the fish come from all depths to feed. The indicator is made from a cut down peacock waggler, a cocktail stick glued in the bottom, then glued into a float adapter. I hope this helps a little, we've had a few requests about the float, so perhaps we'll make a video on how to make them, or make a few for people. Cheers :-)
No worries Lyness, we always try to reply as quickly as we can! :-) Thats a good question... It all depends on the water really, fish react differently in different lakes, I would be tempted to give it a go tho! One thing to remember is you could in theory fish this same method (feeding heavy etc) at 6ft deep, it hasnt got to be fished so shallow. I think the fish would still come from all area's to investigate the free food dropping through the water. Its all about getting them competing. :-)
great video, i love it! love them all! LIKE
Hello! Glad you liked the video! We will draw the winner at the end of the month, probably at the end of the next video we film! :-)
Good luck buddy! Hope you have a good one and that you catch a few fish! :-)
Yeah the beauty of it, is the speed! If you know you can't win your match from your peg fishing for carp then this method is well worth a shout! Especially if you get the slightly bigger fish going, the sort of 6-10oz fish as they soon put a weight together! :-)
Hi Andy, we haven't got anything sorted yet! Let me have a word with Steve and I'll get back to you. Cheers Chris
Great video. Teaching my girlfriend how to fish a whip at the weekend, hope it goes well!
Hi Ellis, I have spoken to Steve he should have no problems making them, he will just get the bits and then let you know, it shouldn't be too much :-) Of course if you change your mind or don't require them we will always use them so its no worries. :-)
Thanks, glad you liked it! :-)
Excellent vid Steve. I just love whip fishing, one of my lakes hold a load of decent roach and bream skimmers and Rudd it's not unusual to catch roach to a 1lb+ and Rudd so far 2.8lb+ also hold perch to 5lb so I'm saving for the tri-cast whip very strong also get elasticated top three section for larger species. Not cheep but it is if your in the whip game. Anyways your channel is best on CZcams big thanks for great vids.
Cheers Barry Boyd thanks for the kind comments :-)
I'd be interested in buying some too!
great video and I have learned to feed more from watching this what model whip do you use / reccommend?
Hi Simon, this video was filmed at cobbleacre lakes in Hevingham, Norfolk. If you google it you will find there website. Hope this helps :-)
Cool ok, thanks... we will try and get something sorted, as a few people have shown an interest in them! We will see what we can do. :-)
ok yes i'd like them and then try and do them myself.. many thanks
If you do try it out let us know how it goes, always good to hear from other anglers! Thanks for taking the time to comment on the video, much appreciated.
What connector do you use for the tip and how do you fix it on
Thank you.Brian
