Having spent years in Italy learning from some of the best whip anglers in the world, Simon gives us some of his top tips for catching big bags of silvers on the whip...
My kind of fishing simple tackle, simple baits and super effective and it's amazing how so many top anglers state that they love fishing the whip, but I see very few anglers fishing this way! Bill
My 6mtr carbon fibre whip only weighs 100 grams when you drop the end section off but I couldn't hold it at the butt like you do Simon plus I think you're using a bit too much line but that's only my opinion being a staunch whip man. Perfect tool for the South Yorkshire Canal as it's 12' straight down where I fish it.
@@robertcourt8593 I totally agree with that--I have fished a whip for over 30 years and I have the line about 2 -3 inches short of the whip, and as you say much easier and quicker to unhook and re-bait. especially when Punch fishing.

The extra length means the line isn't so tight when you're unhooking fish and baiting up etc. Horses for courses really.
Can u use it for carps with elastic?

Does feeding hard mean feeding loads or feeding ground bait that’s rock hard?
Hard as in more compressed so it breaks down slower 👍🏻
Is Simon wearing waders or just getting wet?
Enjoyed this but must add that I think there is never a good reason for using a barbed hook these days.
Fine if you have £40 to spend on bait.
