    Love taking my young daughter (8) out fishing with with a whip just catching small roach, rudd, gudgeon and the odd small carp. Last time we was out caught well over 200 in less than 2 hours, the average was probably only about 2 to 3 oz but the little one had a great time and caught her personal best fish a 1lb 4oz crucian (my best crucian is 1lb 2oz) she also had the biggest gudgeon ive ever seen it must have been 2oz.

    Burton Farm Fishery is a cracking fishery pal. Fished there on the Wednesday you had the match on the main lake, I fished the hemp on whip and pole with some real quality Roach and skimmers. Plus the pesky carp moved in and after foul hooking 4 I managed to hook and land a cracking mirror on a single grain of hemp lol. nice video pal. Will share on Facebook.

      @@downtheedgeangling8639 not bad really for a silver match. If you on your own on a leisure session you will get a fish a chuck. Not on a match with added pressure on the venue.

    Jason. Does that whip fishing work in winter too?

    Can you add some elastic to the top section in case a big carp comes through etc cheers

      Yes mate, many whip systems have elasticated tips to help you land bigger fish

      What size elastic would you think will be good all round fishing for it thanks

      @@jamesarcher8512 i personally use a 4-6 but anything under also works, remember you dont want to light of an elastic because your fishing to hand and swinging fish in

    Wouldnt you be better fishing a waggler when fishing to hand,, rather than top and bottom, ??? --less resistance on the strike and able to sink the line if its breezy.

    • @downtheedgeangling8639
      @downtheedgeangling8639  Před 3 lety

      Whip fishing is a lot better in this situation due to caching the fish so close in and especially for speed as its alot quicker to set the rig

    • @derekskinner
      @derekskinner Před 3 lety +1

      I dont mean using rod and line--I mean fishing a whip waggler set up. rather than top and bottom.

      @@derekskinner Not really to sure as ive never tried it with a waggler, i think for better presentation using a pencil float and fishing top and bottom instead of a waggler style float aids presentation.

      @@downtheedgeangling8639 Probably the reason you have never tried whip fishing with a waggler is because the commercially produced so called "whip waglers" just dont work properly,, I have made my own for over 30 years and had, and still have great success with them, especially with winter Roach fishing, but I use them for several different situations--including what you are doing there., if you have the time -have a look at this video showing how I make them,, there are also vidoes on there of me using them.
      czcams.com/video/M0FVQFQbgwM/video.html
      It would interesting if you were to try them and compare it with the way you do it.,
      Please dont think my comments are a critsisum, it interests me to know why a lot more folks dont use wagglers for whip fishing,
      I made the videos , to try and help folks catch more fish, and to put a different slant on angling, using very simple things,, I` am not after fame or praise,

      @@derekskinner I fish the canal all the time with a 0.6g Drennan Glow Antenna on a 4m whip when a bad skim prevents using a top and bottom float. These small wagglers are great.
