About Buried:
You wake up buried alive. You are running out of oxygen and you can't remember how you got here. There must be a way out, can you figure it out in time?

In Ireland, when someone "died", the tradition was to lay the body of the person in the home on a table or in an open coffin for a day or two whilst the family and friends watched over the body incase they woke up. People otherwise could have fallen into a short coma or blackout and sometimes were prematurely buried alive. This is why it is known as a "Wake". Historically coffins were reused in some poorer families and were found to have nail marks and signs of attempted escape when they were reopened years later.

This is also the origin of "saved by the bell".
People buried and waking up was such a fear back in the day, people tied a string attached to a bell to the dead and buried's fingers, so if they were "prematurely buried", they could ring the bell. Problem is, dead people bloat and gas releases, making the body "move" and that would ring the bell... resulting in digging up corpses more often than not.

Almost the same here in Brazil, we leave the dead's body "displayed" in its coffin for even 2 days at home, so people have the chance to take a last look at the person (I'm not a fan of this tradition, so I always avoid it), but there are cases where someone assumed dead "came back to live" and avoided being buried alive.
In the advent of widespread embalming, wakes have become nothing more than throwbacks. No one's waking up from that.

The fact that it’s happened in the past often enough to implement bells is terrifying.
Being chained to a cinder block attached to a large chain, the other end is wrapped tightly around your ankles and your hands are tied behind your back. Your captor throws the block over and you have to sit there and watch as the chain extends and eventually becoming taught. You look your captor in the eye as the chain unfurls and they show no emotion towards you, the chain finally becomes taught your legs whip up and you’re quickly flung overboard, you hold your breath as long as possible seeing the light fade above you knowing full well it’s the last you see it.

In the case where you’re trapped underground with limited oxygen, it’s actually better to not use any combustible light source, as fire consumes oxygen and will reduce the amount of time you have to make it out alive :)

The movie "buried" with Ryan Reynolds was gut wrenching. The whole movie took place inside a coffin buried deep underground in Afghanistan or iraq. I can't remember, but he's a government contractor and he was kidnapped and wakes up in the coffin in the very beginning. I've never watched a movie that left me so empty afterwards.

They used to have coffins that you could open from the inside because back when they didn't have sophisticated technology people would be mistakenly put in coffins all the time. Not sure what would happen if you were buried though.
They'd also attach a rope to a bell above ground in case the person was alive then the Caretaker would be able to hear the bell and hopefully rescue the buried person.

Especially if dead body were facing and holding you with their eyes open and you both tied together. Hard to imagine a worse situation, maybe add in a couple spiders.
The worst part about being burried alive is that its actually very possible to escape from. The problem is the escape is even scarier than just dying.

You take your shirt off and tie the shirt over your head by your sleeves, then you bust through the part above your head and let the dirt fall over your torso and head, then you quickly shove the dirt into the lower half of the box at your feet, eventually pulling yourself up through the dirt. You just gotta do it before the dirt settles.

Fun fact around the 1800s it was VERY popular to put a pull chain connected to a bell at the grave in case someone that was buried woke up and was actually alive.
Imagine you pull up to a grave at night and a bunch of bells are going off

no it wasnt? The bell thing is from the Dark ages a.k.a The bubonic plague, many docters would misinterpret someone to be a dead body and they would be often buried alive. The bell was meant to be something to pull so u wouldnt die from being buried alive.

Edgar Allen Poe has a short story about this, "The Premature Burial." The narrator is so obsessed with his fear he goes to ridiculous lengths to avoid it happening to him only to end up in that very situation....except he's actually in a tiny berth on an old-fashioned wooden boat and wakes people up when he screams in terror! He comes out the other end recognizing how he caused his anxiety to overtake his life and resolves to really *live*
there is also a hitchcock movie, the final escape, i won't spoil you... but a must to watch !
As someone who has severe Claustrophobia (First discovered when I had to get an MRI after a vehicular accident), This freaks me out. I cannot stand the fact, and if I were ever in that situation I know I would die. Mainly from panicking. (Rapid air consumption)
Those old MRI machines filled me with so much dread. As a heavier guy, being squished in a narrow ass dark space was nerve wracking. I much prefer the newer machines where your full body doesn't have to be inside.

Man, it seems more unique horror games are popping up recently, and it makes me pretty happy to see. But it's probably just me feeling that way- I personally don't keep track of newer horror games popping up.
Yeah it's nice seeing how many how popping up nowadays, but i honestly would love to see a horror take on werewolves because the implication of a giant supernatural human beast hybrid being able to get you even if you're inside a house is absolutely terrifying. I also would like to see more indie devs take a crack at reverse horror like carrion

Games like dbd I feel don't count because they try to make it play like other games just with a little bit of scariness to it. I want a complete horror game that plays like the amnesia games or alien isolation but it's an actual human you have to play cat and mouse against

Suddenly realizing there was a third hand made my hair stand on end, and when it moved I almost screamed.
My fucking SOUL dropped. That was a visceral scare. The kind that makes you tear up
The third hand was fine for me for some reason, I had to take a pause when the dead head showed up.
Literally one of my biggest fears. I get extremely claustrophobic. I even have a very hard time with planes. Not because I'm high in the air, it's the "tight" space. Not being able to "get away"
I’m the same way with roller coasters. Being secured to the seat with such a big, heavy harness freaks me out. And being trapped in a less physical way: there’s no way to stop a roller coaster once you’re on it. Like you’re there til the end of the ride, even if you’re having a panic attack.

Short but terrifying ! Love the concept and the claustrophobic environment, along witht the ghost encounters. The face watching you the whole time is nerve wracking.
There's a movie caveat. There's a dead woman with open eyes that's also in a very small room and you always wait for the jumpscare. It's so unnerving
I love when the face came out of the dark, because when you tent to stay in a pitch dark place for a while you start seeing faces that aren’t there

There's two movies that came out about being buried alive. One was with Adrian Brody and the other was with Ryan Reynolds i think. Both pretty good movies and worth a watch
I saw the Ryan Reynolds one, but I don't think I've ever heard of Adrian Brody being in one about the same thing.

Bro being buried alive is hell you cant move you are just Waiting for your air to run out and any light that's from a flame or light bulb will take your oxygen away faster and if that doesn't kill you starvation or dehydration will😢😢

I remember watching a movie with a similar plot of a guy being buried alive and since then its been one of my biggest fears, just the thought of being alone in the dark in a small space without anything you can do to get out is extremely scary

This is actually something that would randomly pop in my head from time to time; when I was younger. What if I went to sleep and woke up buried alive. Or I ended up in one of them situations where people thought I had passed and buried me. But I was fine and woke up later. Man the weird and horrific what if scenarios, that would plague my mind back then. Wild.

As someone who works in the funeral industry its impossible to get out, when you get barried they put the coffin insdie another box called a Vault to prevent he coffin from collapsing and leaving a dent in the surface. Even if you get out of the coffin youll have to deal with 3 inches of hard concrete minimum above the pressure form the dirt in the surface before getting out.

I'll offer a big hug to anyone who freaks out because of this game, but I cannot relate, I'll find and cram myself into the smallest possible spaces available at all times. The first thing I did when we moved once was wiggle into a cabinet in the bathroom
It isn't quite the claustrophobia the situation can induce, so much as the inablity to move and go get fresh air. The thought of suffocating to death is the freakiest part, next to sharing the box with a corpse whose released gases are probably poisoning what oxygen is left.

They made a game where you go out to eat where someone laced the meal with a rare toxin but when you get home and go take a poop the paralyzing effect kicks in while you're on the toilet. Where the assailant was inside your walls now able to blindly, eyeless spider crawls across your bathroom floor to slowly eat you and the toxin's effect makes it so can still feel everything?!

Saw this on steam and it reminded me of an old flash game I played with the same concept. Can’t remember all details but I remember it got pretty creative. I remember having to kick a panel, get an evil book, kick barefoot to bleed on it, and summon a demon for some part of it.
seeing a face underneath by sheets when i look is still my deepest fear, the way that that face was right at his feat, aswell as a face when you look to your left or right
