This concept of something so massive hunting exclusively yourself is one of the only things that has haunted me in my dreams since I've been a child.
It's nightmare fuel
I had the same nightmares as a kid thanks to jurassic park lol. They got so bad I ended up lucid dreaming just to make it stop.
So you have never been married?
Yeah like when u just imagine it stomping through the city it’s fine but when if its going for you specifically, that’s scary.

@minaashido518 the kaiju could probably hear him on the otherside of the world
As a Kaiju it's senses would be about 50 times better than a dog and the if senses are 20 times better than ours. Meaning that it would of 1. seen him even through all the fog and 2. would here him f Rom across the continent if he was loud enough as proven by the anime Pacific Rim: The Black when Copperhead hears the Jaeger alarm to off from at least across 2 states and it would have been with ease. Plus since this thing is massive it must have some sort of sixth sense like many other Kaiju do that means it can detect possible danger or prey without having to look which is why quite a few species of kaiju are super successful hunters. Sorry for an in depth explanation.
IP?
God imagine how insane it'd be if you could enter these large buildings, and the creature could legit demolish the building to try and get to you. A framework that'd allow for huge numbers of enterable and fully destructible buildings would be such a fantastic base for so many different kinds of games
Those two Battlefield: Bad Company games for 360 had some half decent building destruction gameplay.
The big one did destroy the one building, probably could do more

how hasn’t there been a triple a game based on something like this before? it has so much potential, pure survival game in a giant city with a massive kaiju on the loose.
A far cry clone set on skull island sounds like a idea for a triple A survival game with a twist
The funny thing is, there actually is something like what you're describing, and it's called "City Shrouded in Shadow." It features protagonists trying to escape kaiju attacking a city with a whole bunch of licensed characters (both good and evil) from franchises like: Godzilla, Ultraman, Evangelion, etc... And apparently, the game is a spin-off of the "Zettai Zetsumei Toshi" series (One of them was localized as "Disaster Report") which is like CSiS but with natural disasters instead of monsters.
@@easonyeung2779 idk if I'd call that AAA. Its also PS2/PS3 tier graphics, which doesn't help it appeal to larger audiences.

@@DireNemesis I know, but they weren't a big thing, recent or have a survival aspect like this kinda thing at least
There's a kaiju survival game called City Shrouded in Shadow that's only available in Japan; it has a lot more QTEs and less full on horror than this though
it's because working with multiple scales is a massive pain in the ass.
Fr, I feel like it would be a bit more intense though if there was instadeath... also imagine if they had a Red Faction style destruction mechanic for buildings interacted wtih by the kaiju

We need more giant monster games that use concepts like this. Imagine surviving a brawl between two or something like a horror game where you have to survive Cloverfield would be sick.
Lego lord of the rings, when the stone giants fight
There is a a game called city shrouded in shadow, where you play as a pedestrian watching godzilla, ultraman, evangeline etc fighting other monsters, but sadly it is kinda mediocre
There's a Roblox game that is like that but less horror elements. It's fairly epic though it's low quality.

This is exactly the kind of horror game I was hoping they would make. As a long time Godzilla fan, I wondered what it would be like to be roaming around a city when a Kaiju is still present in the area. Thank you for posting this IGP!
In reality you would make your way out of the city asap, you wouldnt roam around looking for loot to get yourself out of there lol
@@Opachki69420 What if he sleep through the whole city destruction and wake up after everyone has been evacuate
I think there was a game called Godzilla strike zone where such things happened
"City Shrouded in Shadow" for the PS3 was arguably the closest to an authentic kaiju experience, but it didn't get a release outside of Japan. Would love to see that game receive a Western localisation.
There was a mobile game back in 2014 called Godzilla : Strike Zone where we roam about the city with Godzilla walking about but sadly it's gone now
The reason you keep finding filters all over the place is the same reason that you find two gold pieces in a wolf's stomach. Somebody else was carrying it, and didn't make it.
I literally felt IGP die inside at the ending. That softly whispered "Nooo..." cinched it.
What I love about this game is how they use the Kaiju. Unlike just having the Kaiju to be a monster that wants to kill you and destroying things, it creates an atmosphere for the player in the environment. Just as how IGP is freaking out with paranoia since he's alone and he doesn't know when it'll strike , the monster creates that atmosphere for him which shows the purpose of the Kaiju in that environment. Lovely game.
Yeah, it doesn't just charge you mindlessly and roar all the time. It prowls around and actually looks for you, and only roars occasionally. It's REALLY cool.

Multiplayer would ruin the whole premise and atmosphere of the concept in the game
A war of the worlds game is being developed and its looking really good, same premise, but instead of a big monster its a big alien machine. Look it up on youtube!

Survival game adaptation from Stephen King's the mist. You have thicc mist that had kaiju's roaming around and smaller creatures hunting you. It would be like subnautica but In modern city.
So weird, i had thought for a while about how cool/scary it would be to be a survivor with a kaiju stomping through your city and here it is!

15:17 - Pause and you'll see a person disappearing right next to the destroyed car
Hou, nice catch.
Looks like the girl in red the newspaper IGP found behind cover, about one leading the creatures around. Kinda insinuates there's more behind this game story-wise. Going on that note, is this indie game still in a beta/alpha-phase? Because I'd love to know if it grows more.

When many people think of kaiju, they think of goofy looking monsters that are stupid and attack only groups of people. What I love about this game (and Cloverfeild), is that monster is only after *you* , and that it looks realistic and, is still pretty dumb.
This kinda reminds me of that one, legendary game: City Shrouded in Shadow. You gotta make your way through a city while Kaiju and giant robots duke it out while also being chased by the Yakuza
Yeah, had Evas and Godzilla and Ultraman in it
Shame it doesn't run super well :(

it's such an amazing concept and to think that the bigger one was able to destroy that house randomly means that you can't be safe even in places you think you ARE safe. also what if they're a whole ass race and those two just hatched or was born earlier than the others?
According to the synopsis, this is an apocalyptic event with giants appearing all across the globe.
i love the concept of having to hide from big monsters in cities or towns, where you for example have to sit tightly next to windows or hide underneath desks because there is a chance you may get spotted by something, unfortunatly there aren't enough horror survival games out there that really make your suroundings feel threathening after a while instead of encouraging the player to hide from whatever monster they enouncter
Try Alien Isolation.
@@andipajeroking i actually have that sitting in epic games, I'll try it, seen some interesting things about it before

Ghost started hunting every 30 seconds and I still got all the evidence AND all side objectives. Your opinion is wrong I’m better than you
I feel like this could be a good stepping stone, a concept like maybe Generation Zero or other loot based survival games, maybe like Kaiju Proof bunkers to hunker down in while occasional heading out into the thick of it to collect supplies .
I feel like a s.t.a.l.k.e.r aesthetic would go nicely, collecting artifacts fallen off or created from the Kaijus to sell to the remnants of Goverment left to create Kaiju Killing weaponry .
Im on it
"I'm starting to think he's not here"
Kaiju: "Bonjour"
I've always imagined something like this since Cloverfield came out, all it's missing is squad based multiplayer taking out smaller beast kaiju both on the streets and inside complexes in an attempt to loot and escape. Really hope other games pick up on this concept
@A May Kyi Donitrikz It was in the realm, but those monsters were more docile and killing them slowed the Evolution down but not enough to stop it. Really good concept but the maps were a bit...limited in scale, like an arena fighter/shooter but more confined. I was thinking something on a PUBG scale in terms of buildings, Turok's melee/finisher mechanics but with beast AI as contenders on the Alien Isolation scale of brains and with one giant monster roaming and doing its own thing in the middle of one giant war torn city who could be a capture and chip event as a way to keep an eye on its movement. With today's tech it's definitely possible if someone with the knowhow managed to work it right
Earth defense force really should have a mode like this where its not just waves of enemies but single/just a few really STRONG kaiju that only go down from a nuclear launch or something
@@Opachki69420 Nukes've had their time. Now having one player mark the Kaiju for something like a bunker buster, where the payload digs through its thick hide then detonates while their teammates either distract it or keep it suppressed through overwhelming firepower to its face, that would be a game changer
@A May Kyi Donitrikz Evolve servers got turned back on recently actually. People have been playing again. Fun game but fighting with Destiny at the time was spelling its own death.

They hid in a corner of an alley, pondering which way next to go when one of the girls finally had the courage to move on and was suddenly grabbed by MASSIVE tentacles. The other girl was totally frozen on spot, breathing hard in her hiding corner and was only able to hear the scream of sheer panic and total fear of the other girl when she suddenly heard this immense creature tearing her limbs apart while letting out a core-shuttering roar.

I love it, I just wish the developers knew how car alarm works.
When the Kaiju/army destroyed most of them, their alarms probably went off them, and kept going until their drained their batteries. Considering that it looks like a few hours from the attack, no car alarm should be firing. Even if there were cars with enough battery, they would be still firing their alarm, and not fire when you get close.
Also, why are the tremors caused by the kaiju not setting off the alarms?
It’s a great game mechanic though
This is a concept You don't see too often. A nice choice IGP
Edit: I hope they add more city based terrains as well as other variations of Kaiju that require different mechanics to avoid. Like a slithering Kaiju that feels tremors, a flying Kaiju over a water logged oil rog or something: where you have to find ways to escape.

Holy crud, I’ve watched all the Godzilla movies but I’ve never thought about the ASPECT of trying to survive it
Okay I love this concept. Actually I generally love games where you are alone, in a destroyed city, where you are hunting or being hunted by something or someone. This needs to be more popular
I remember right after Cloverfield was released, there was an Indie game called "Grayshot" that would have had a concept very similar to this. Unfortunately, other than a little bit of lore building, it never got off the ground. Like many others I wonder why nobody's tried something like this. As a fan of Kaiju films, I'll be watching this with great interest. Thank you IGP for showing us this.
mfw he didn't notice the GROWING ARROW that usually signifies enemy sight or hit location
I think this taps into some hidden horror that is hard to hit, but is absolutely nightmarish if you do. The recently abandoned city with some threat lurking around. It's hard to imagine even with the recent pandemic, but think of your own major metropolis area where you're the only one in it, like some kind of "I am Legend" kind of thing. That starts to grate on you, kind of like the Backrooms. It's a really cool and well done game. It's just personally hard for me to watch you get way too lucky with certain decisions you make. I'm a more overtly cautious player. So if it's going one way, I'm headed away from it and I ain't sticking around to watch it.
This game is basically living the life of an ant and the kaiju is an anteater
I had essentially this nightmare multiple times into my teen years. It makes me think of the perspective of mice and insects when we come around.
I always wanted a Godzilla game where you play as the humans, where your mission is to fight and ward Godzilla off.
This is such a great concept for a game! If it ever has a 'survival' mode though, dude. That would be so cool, trying to survive by gathering resources and helping people to reach a safe area? Possibly even having a multiplayer where you have to stick together (e.g like Left 4 Dead) but you can only have weapons that are like crowbars or swords to make survival against the Kaiju that much more threatening. No guns but you can make small explosives or something? I'm rambling now but I love the Kaiju universe so much and this isn't something I've seen a lot of haha Great video as always IGP!
With all due respect, a few rifle rounds is just going to tickle something that big.
@@ieajackson5518 an swords too, idk why adding swords and crowbars in a game like this is a good idea unless it has pvp

Honestly, this is one heck of a game, and I love it. The whole concept is amazing. Just wanted to say, but your videos are perfect in every way. Keep up the good work man! 🙂
Hope this game becomes bigger over time cause I love the concept
I don't really play video games anymore, but it's games like this that makes me want to get back in. You do a really good job of promoting this stuff, to the point where they look attractive to someone who won't even spend money on new shoes - let alone a gaming PC.
I've been trying to find a horror game where you hide from a large monster, hope more games with this concept will pop up soon!!
I feel like a scary thing about being alone with a giant monster in a city would be "Is it friendly or is it an enemy." Something else scary would be being alone with two kaiju where one wants to help you or doesn't mind you and one wants you dead. The twist would be that they look exactly the same. What I mean when I say they look the same is that your visibility is low so they look similar.
Why am I getting Cloverfield vibes from this game? Like instantly that roar reminded me of the 2008 Cloverfield monster that emerged in NYC.
i had a few nightmares like this throughout my life, and for some reason its either only hunting me or it reeks havoc around me while i try to escaped it, only for it to turn around and come my way again.😣
Literally my childhood 😭 and it be Godzilla of all monsters

“Haven’t heard a stomp, haven’t heard a roar-“
*immediately stomps and roars*
Oh, you haven’t, have you?
Dude... The atmosphere in that game is insane...
This is really really well done, if they keep this up they're going to practically own this genre of horror/sci fi. Think of how little this type of game is actually done
4:57 that screech lmao. When you screetched i curled my toes when that big monster came from the mist
I find how the cars go off from being tapped by the player kinda funny
Bruh how does IGP turn such a dire situation into this, everyone in a city is either dead or missing and you're being chased by a kaiju "this some epic music tho"
Thank you so much for providing me years of entertainment Indie you are a gem of a person
I'm very happy to hear that haha glad I could provide some form of entertainment for you. Also I appreciate the tip!
Sorry for replying so late, I never got notified of the Super Thanks by CZcams :(
IGP: “I’m starting to think he's not here”
Kaiju: "oh shit my bad bro"
The comedic timing of the Kaiju showing up after you said it wasn't there was great until it actually showed up. This was a very intense looking game
I'm so glad that there was someone to lend you a hand at the end
God I keep watching IGP and am loving the added ambiance audio effects he adds when he’s playing games, like the added slight echo he added to this video for being around big buildings!
4:50 "I'm starting to think he's not here. I haven't heard him. I haven't heard a stomp. I haven't heard a roar."
* *roar* *
"AAAAAAAAAH!"
Perfectly good timing😂
"I don't think he's here anymore. I haven't heard a stomp, I haven't heard a roar."
[Kaiju literally appears and walks by you]
This game is the closest thing to a cloverfield game
This made me think of Rampage now it could be pretty fun to have some big revamped version of it where it’s 3d and maybe you actually start out as a small monster who builds its way up to Kaiju size by completing “missions” and causing destruction/eating and you get upgrades you can add on to your kaiju so it can be even sort of customized.
I just want to point out that being pursued by a monster that large is TERRIFYING!
I've had nightmares like this, and now it's a game!
I'm honestly shocked no one's thought of this before. Closet thing we had was Evolve but that's a PVP type of thing.
