    One of the most significant advantages for the front-facing camera is to see how close you are to objects. This simple addition with the switch makes it so you can switch front or rear anytime to see what is going on around your vehicle.

    Great video. I assume at least the camera install would be similar in a 5th gen 4runner? Would be nice to see this on a runner especially a Pro.

  • @iamjackalope

    If your truck has adaptive cruse control you will need to install the camera below the Toyota emblem as that is where the radar is at.

  • @Chuckles527
    @Chuckles527 Před 5 lety +1

    do you still put camera in same place if you have the front radar system?

    • @SnailTrail4x4
      @SnailTrail4x4  Před 5 lety

      My understanding is that the sensors in the 2018+ tundra are in the bumper, so with exception of the TRD PRO grill this installation location should work on all 2014+ tundras, and possibly even 2007 if they have a factory backup camera.

    You have had this for about six months now and one of the major complaints from the reviews was that the front camera broke after a couple months. Have you had any problems with it? Also, I have a 2013 SR5 CM model without the touch screen dash. I would like to get an aftermarket system someday and was wondering if this will work with an aftermarket system and will I need the wiring harness? Thanks

    • @SnailTrail4x4
      @SnailTrail4x4  Před 4 lety +1

      I don't know about aftermarket, but I don't see why it wouldn't work if it uses OEM harnesses since it just overrides the display input. I've had zero issues with it, and have put the camera through hell, dust, rain, snow, ice, mud, scorching desert heat, multiple times for each type of hell. Works flawlessly. My favorite mod to date, and the cheapest.

    • @TundraTex
      @TundraTex Před 4 lety +1

      The FRAC Harness will work with aftermarket head units as long as a plug and play kit is used.

      SnailTrail4x4 I have a '19 crewmax and the T in the front isn't open like what you show. I believe the radar is behind the emblem on the new models. Bummer, cause the install looks like a great mod.

    • @TundraTex
      @TundraTex Před 4 lety

      This will work on vehicles with the TSS sensor, but a different camera needs to be used to mount in the grill rather than the Toyota emblem. Search for Natika front camera on Amazon for an example.
