Summer temps up to 120, average 110. Even towing water tanks out into the desert in 100 degree weather at 3 to 5 MPH over rocky dirt hilly roads my truck has NEVER overheated. • @bryanangelov
      @bryanangelov Před 9 měsíci

@@javilink7 There are few trucks that are not as thirsty as my Tundra, and I am talking real MPG. The GM"s 3.0 diesel and Ford's 2.7 gas engine are very efficient. The rest are good on paper, but in the real world they are not as fuel efficient as they claim. At the end of the day, if you need a truck, you will pay a lot of money for it, gas/diesel it does not matter. If you have an American truck from the big 3, you will pay for repairs too. Whichever way you go, you will spend a lot of money.
My truck payment is $890 per month. I bought it brand new for 56k OTD. I spent $550 for gas per month on average. We drive the truck about 18,000 miles per year. Gas is expensive in WA, $4.69 at Costco. It is not cheap, but repairs are not cheap either. I have not had a single issue yet. In addition, all new trucks cost at least 10k or more compared to my truck and the trim level.
Considering the price premium and the higher interest rates, just the truck payments of the new 2023/2024 truck would be $400 to $600 more per month compared to my payments. So, at the end of the day, it is all about how much it will cost you, and although my truck's 14MPG is concerning, the savings I am getting from not having costly repairs and that my truck is 10k to 15k cheaper, it ends up that I am saving money rather than spending more when you compare oranges to oranges.

These 5.7 are absolute pigs on gas. Second worst MPG of all trucks. Worst MPG is Titan w the 5.6. They are good trucks but it cost too much to run and parts are expensive. Rather a domestic truck. Parts and service are much cheaper as is gas consumption. Engines w cylinder deactivation can be tuned off or deleted. Id rather get 17-18mpg than 10-12.

The fact that Toyota was buying back or doing full frame replacements on trucks due to rust is so impressive to me. Can you think of any other manufacturers that would even consider doing this. They obviously learned from this costly issue and have greatly improved metal quality and coating techniques to fix this issue. I have found over the years that it’s not that Toyota builds better than the others. It’s the fact they fix known issues better than everyone else. Each model has its growing pains the first couple years. So I would always suggest buying a Toyota that’s long in the tooth.

Also the 5.6's during those years had an issue with cylinder #7, owners complaining of loud ticking noise. They got put on a list for engine swaps. Nissan dealers swapped lots of 5.6's and were encouraged to not report it, so it doesn’t hurt Nissan Titan sales. So a perspective buyer of a used Titan will not see it on a Car Fax report. Had a 2014 2500hd chevy and by 120k miles I had completely rebuilt the front end, done exhaust manifolds, water pump, hoses and radiator. shocks, plugs, wires, interior plastic rattling from everywhere, radio replaced, window switches replaced, center console latch, TRANSMISSION went out(5500.00 out of warranty), Theres more I cant think of right now but to the tune of about 14k in repairs before 120k miles. Before that i owned an 07 gmc half ton and the motor blew at around 130k and also had the front end rebuilt in it shortly before. I had many 90s chevys with high miles that were so dependable. GM just went to crap after 06. They are still having the lifter issue 15 years later and have yet to come up with a fix except hope its out of warranty so you have to pay for it. Thats criminal IMO and why i wont support them unless theres a change that restores my faith. Until then its Toyota all the way.

The interiors hold up extremely well and at 150k on my 07, it was still as tight as the day it rolled off the line. I replaced all the shocks around 100k. Of course, I live in the desert which is a huge advantage. Compared to the domestics, they are a notch above IMO. The brand new Tundra? It has way too many bells and whistles. About the gas mileage.
I have a 2017 TSS Offroad for a year and I absolutely love it. To be 4WD...I'm getting 15.7 mpg in my day to day driving. I can't complain about that with a 6700 lb truck. Once, I filled it up and drove 65 mph for 120 miles on the 4 lane and got 18.1 mpg.
For those that say they get 11-13 mpg, you can't complain about that if you're jacking it up and putting on gigantic tires, or you're constantly towing something.

Retired last 7 tears so the 2015 Tacoma I bought new with 96k miles currently is incredible. The 4.0 six pulls my boat and camper (5,000 and 6,800 lbs) with no issues. Have never found a truck I want more than the one I have. The first couple of years after I got it I would have been willing to trade for another Tacoma with a V8 like they had in the 4Runner in ‘03 to ‘08, and still would, but Toyota has made it known there not going in that direction. The politicians or at least the obey we have now, would have us in trucks with power plants we don’t need or want. Baby your current truck because you probably won’t like your next one. Good video.

Had a 21 tundra. Good truck but I wouldn’t say bulletproof just imo. I hated the 4 wheel drive feature bc when you go to turn the vehicle while moving, it feels as if you’re going to snap the drive axles and all my other trucks never did this while in 4wd. Toyota then told me that’s normal as we also have a 21 1794 and that one does the exact same thing. Also, the wipers suck on both of the trucks. Toyota replaced the wipers and all they would do is squeal. Cleaned the windshields vigorously and they still are terrible. Had a rattle in the truck bed and Toyota couldn’t find it. They finally told me that the bed bolts were loose on my third time back to another dealer. Still like the trucks but like I say, there are some issues imo that need fixed… nice video sir as just fyi Toyota did keep the rear roll down window on the new 22 tundra crew max like yours. That is a great feature…wish it was offered as well on the double cab lol…👍👍👍

@@BOSS-xy8op Amsoil is the best I to use sig series. I do a 10k oil change interval though the oil is rated at 25k. I use their grease for my driveline and their fuel additives as well. Pretty much all things Amsoil other than coolant.

My F150 at 200K miles still runs great no rust or mechanical issues. It also get about 20 MPG and will out tow a Toyota!

You got a good one! My 2011 F150 lasted 140k and was absolutely plagued with issues. Rust from water leaking in brake light, multiple valve issues, transmission coding issues, spark plug issues, door harness issues, heater blend issues, wheel bearing issues; hell the rubber seals on the door started coming off. Every single time I turned around I was spending $1500 bucks. I kept the thing for 12 years and overall I like it, but I traded it in for 11k and bought a 21' Tundra. Night and day difference just with the transmission, it's so smooth compared to the F150, it doesn't' get confused when I slow down and speed up quickly. I drove a few hours on the highway last week and got 18.9 MPG, but around town I'm sitting at 15-16 MPG which isn't great but hey if I can save on ownership costs, i'll make due with the fuel mileage. Towing isn't an issue for me, I tow a side x side and either truck pulls it like a dream. Glad to hear you got a good one!

Ford was unable to sell a single F150 last month in the entire nation because people ha e finally figured out they are turds.

2013 Tundra SR5 bought NEW and over 186,000 miles later with ZERO issues. I don't understand why people go on about the cost of fuel. It's a truck that can tow 10,000 lbs. Can't do that with a Corolla. Just keep the truck after payoff and run it till the wheels fall off. Gas is cheaper than gas with a monthly note. Aside from running out of gas or a flat tire you never see a Toyota broke down on the side of the road, just everybody else.

I hear you on the fuel cost, I live an hour out of the city and was spending a lot on diesel for my 3500HD. I bought a small eco car for those trips where I don't need a truck, it more than pays for itself and it keeps miles off of the truck.

On my second tundra first a 2003 now a 2016 and never a problem or repair, used to love my 2001 Chevy until at 116k the fuel pump went stranding us in the middle of traffic, at 160k the intake gasket went bad on the inside instead of out dumping coolant into the piston which compressed and bent a push rod,the 4 wheel drive worked when it felt like it leaving us stuck in the desert! I will say i wish Toyota did a better job with comfort, I find fords and Chevys much more of a comfortable ride but ill stick with Toyota for the low cost of repairs.

21 tundra owner here. I dont trust the domestic manufacturers anymore. Dont want to worry about my valves screwing up becuase of AFM,DFM. at any moment and they dont cover it under warranty. At 3 yr. 36,000 miles aint enough warranty for this new technology/over engineering! So ill buy a little extra gas And live with a little less features to have peace of mind.
