It's not real alcohol

@@Blue-pw8uo you got me
I noticed that too. It’s because it is colored water orange ice tea but it is to send to look like real whiskey or rum or bourbon. The thing is the liquid moves too quickly in the bottle. I find that very distracting and so disappointing when a multi million dollar movie makes it obvious mistakes like that.

The "ice cubes" aren't made of ice either, it's so they don't melt during a scene
I read that it's because they make noise, but melting must also be a big issue.

Soo practically grape juice?
For a show called "Early Doors" in the UK it was set in a pub. So they actually set up real beer/ale pumps. Most of the jokes where they say the barman pulls a terrible pint were pretty much all real because he did pull awful pints!
Loved that show Craig cash is quality
On the set of Back to The Future they actually did give real alcohol as props. In the scene when Marty is in the car with his mother in the 50s there is actually an outtake where he drinks the alcohol and spits it out not realizing it was real alcohol

Probably not possible because ice tea has to much calories. (I mean not for normal people but for actors who are paid to look *insert adjective of choice*)
@@Trashloot tea by itself has zero calories it's just leaf water. Add Splenda or something if it just has to be sweetened
@@G5xgajsjY793 It has about 4 calories per 100 mil last i checked xD. Jokes aside: i read ice tea and assumed we were talking about your typical sweet ice tea. You can make ice with regular tea but i didn't think about that.
I worked on a low budget feature one time that had a big bar scene. The producer rented a real bar from 2 AM until 12 noon the next day which gave us a 10 hour shoot.
That same producer mistakenly had a call time for 20 extras about four hours too early. He made a deal with the owner of the bar to serve them drinks to compensate them partly for their time. By the time we were actually filming them most of them were so drunk or sleepy that they were not effective for the scene. Always always always if you want a drunk in a scene, hire a good actor, do not bring in some money and let them actually get drunk. These days insurance companies block any such stupid activity like that
I guess it wouldn't be a good idea to have all the actors drunk. They would never be able to remember the lines. 😂😂😂😂
The actor for Rick in Rick and Morty gets drunk to play his role. It often results in different dialogue to what is on the script. Sometimes he accidentally drinks too much and completely loses the plot.
Real alcohol is also used on set in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia sometimes

We shot a low budget feature and the Christian director was going to tip a bottle of run down the sink - me and the cameraman ran and grabbed it before he could and replaced the contents with a mixture of mango juice and coke which looked so identical that people on set where wincing when the actress drank - they thought she was drunk! Good acting helped as she kept it up between takes LOL! We bought a cheap bottle of water and tipped that away to put the rum into, which went home ;o)

I was an extra on a movie once in high school. It was a scene at a nightclub, where there were a lot of takes. We were all supposed to be drinking non-acloholic beer. But the bar forgot to switch the kegs - so we ended up getting somewhat buzzed on regular beer. As a poor student - free beer is good beer.

What I hate is coffee cups in films that are obviously empty. It's so easy to tell they're not drinking and when the put the cups down they sound hollow. Even if you don't want to use hot coffee, just use water! It's so annoying.
Even if you disregard the sound, it's so clear then the actor isn't holding a cup that's filled from the way they pretend to drink and the way they hold it.
Bro you're that dipshit friend that points out every little detail during a movie. IT'S A MOVIE. 🤡
@@brayallen7290 Not really. Just when you notice it once you'll always see it. And you can't avoid noticing it every time you see it. I love film, but when it's something that easy to fix then there's literally no reason not to. I mean let's be honest, how hard is it to pour water in a cup.
@@edwardbirks1558 bro you're honestly tripping. Watch any action movie ever? Half the gun scenes are clearly fake. Especially the newer CGI ones. I think you have a specific OCD for this lol
@@brayallen7290 Wait are you trying to tell me that die hard isn't a documentary?! Oh wow thanks mate. Look, I can see past guns and explosions and car jumps being CGI. I can also appreciate that king Kong is never gonna look completely realistic. But there's excuses for those things. It makes sense for those things to be CGI or appear somewhat fake. But there is no excuse for cups with no liquid. Just little things in films that there is no reason for them to not be corrected to help give a sense of realism in films and TV such as a court room drama or a slow building docudrama.

I can't get enough of these dad jokes, they are just too good
I have a question about when someone gets a cup of takeout coffee like a Starbucks. I'm sure this happens with other things too, but the question is WHY do they never put anything in the cup? It is really obvious that the actor is holding an empty cup while they are drinking...
My guess is if the prop accidentally gets knocked over, no one wants an actor getting scalded by hot coffee or tea. Not only that, but if a scene needs to be repeated or filmed again, constantly drinking coffee or tea can cause increased bladder activity, basically you urinate more.
@@madthing5738 yeah, I get that. So why not have something else in it to weigh it down? Like sand or something that will weigh the same and seal it off. My point is, once you notice that the cups are empty you will never not notice that they are empty (if they are)
@@dunnright00 or put a small water bottle in it, to give it that liquid feel
That’s what I’m saying! I’ve always notice this and it irks me so much. Especially because the coffee will have a lid so u can’t see what inside so they could literally just use water…but they don’t. And sometimes the actors are horrible at pretending to drink a full cup of scolding hot coffee. Smh

3 Dad jokes in 1, a new world record
Imagine if the actors would drink real alcohol on a scene which has to be repeated a few times, you wouldn't get anywhere, even very good actors would have problems playing their role under these conditions. If you consider how often scenes are being filmed until they are perfect the making of a film would take many years when you could just do 3-5 scenes with the same character a day. Even if the character should look drunk, it probably isn't the best approach to make someone actually drunk, because the way the actor does things when he's drunk will to a very high chance not match what the character should be like, also it's probably quite difficult to work with someone like this.
Like the malort commercial
High functioning alcoholic actors could do it.
You should research that many celebs are so messed up they don't even remember filming
Yeah. The movie "Another Round" with Mads Mikkelsen is about alcohol and the actors, by rumors, got drunk very often until the director had to stop and banned alcohol from the sets.
