Thank you for explaining the bag! Every time I saw one on TV or a movie the grocery bags look noticeably different. I was so curious about why. I had no idea they were vinyl.
It does explain why movies and shows always feature people having groceries in _paper_ bags, despite that not truly being common or much possible in this twenty-first century. I think the last time that I even had the option in a traditional store was either in a Kroger or a Piggly Wiggly in the mid-90s. Of course, there are non grocery shops that still do paper, that look more like gift bags, but it is not practical for groceries any longer. Foreign concepts like Aldi do or did try paper bags, but those didn't appear to be particularly popular and may not be available any longer.

Aldi does still use paper- i bought some last week.
Publix offers it and Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s use paper exclusively.
But they are definitely exceptions to the rule.
And those suckers are so loud. It’s cool to know what the TV/movie trick for that is.

I think they use the same vynil material for the paper, I don't know about cars though.

I love this. I do food styling. In a similar fashion “real” food often doesn’t look good enough for the camera.
I remember hearing how those really nice photos of soup are basically a bowl of jello with arranged ingrediends and tiny layer of liquid on top. Crazy stuff.

Are there silent dishes/cutlery? This is something that always stands out to me in indie films, any dialogue in the kitchen is disturbed by the characters eating or doing dishes really loud.
